Changes are in God's Hands -- and Reflect His Plans

Cameo Courtships from Barbour Publishing June 2019
You might be wondering what this cover form Cameo Courtships, by Susanne Dietze, Debra E. Marvin, Jennifer Uhlarik, and Kathleen Y'Barbo has to do with my topic of change. You see, this collection was originally pitched in a proposal that included me and several other authors. Barbour Publishing had been putting out amazing, and great value, collections with seven to nine novellas in each one. I've been in some of those collections, myself, and was blessed by it. You can imagine how expensive it must be to print those large (over 400 good-sized pages) with the beautiful deckle edges they had on them. Then things were changed up and the new collections were determined to have only four authors in them. So the leads for each proposal had to make adjustments. In this case, lovely Susie Dietze had to figure out how to go forward. This was not the only proposal that I was part of where the lead had to make corrections. I volunteered out of another, which will be published later this year. And I had one of my own (Lessons on Love) which will be published in October with three other authors including the fabulous Rita-finalist Susanne Dietze, who was the lead on the Cameo Courtship collection.

Change in life is inevitable, isn't it? Right now one of my author friends and I are working with four different possible proposals, multiple authors. We've already had two authors opt out of one of the collection ideas and another author join us. One thing that hasn't changed is that all of the authors serve God and all write for His glory. And that's what matters. Change will happen, but it's all in God's hands. We don't always like the changes that life brings, but when we trust God's provision, we'll be headed in the right direction.

Giveaway: I'm giving away a copy of this beautiful new release -- Cameo Courtship. Answer this question to enter: Are you surprised by changes or are you more likely to keep rolling on?

  1. I am usually surprised by the changes in life. There is usually some trepidation at first, but things usually work out for the best in the end. God really does know what he’s doing!

  2. Of course I’m surprised but I’ve learned to roll with things this past two years. Our lives went from predictable jobs and caregiving to disability, death and a return to college for both my husband and myself. God is good but it is tough.

  3. I usually can roll with changes but if they involve anything hurtful then I have a harder time. The more hurtful the harder it is for me. 😢

  4. While I would love to say that I am never surprised, you just never know what God has in store for you. So you might expect one outcome and God will totally change it. I'm excited about the new novella collections that are coming out. Looking forward to reading all the new stories!

  5. I was when I was younger. But you get to my age, you’ve seen just about everything. When new ones come up, I just say what now. I just try to leave everything up to God.

  9. That totally depends. Sometimes you just have no choice but to roll with the changes like when my brother died in an accident and life changes immediately. Other times, I want to resist change such as when my good friend and co-worker tells me she's resigning.

  13. I have experienced so many changes in my life that I just keep going. Sometimes there might be a little hiccup while I have to accept it, but then it’s onward and forward hoping that big changes won’t happen again soon. Thanks for the giveaway. :)

  14. I am one of those who keeps rolling on. I discovered it's best that way and causes a lot less stress. Not that the changes aren't stressful but when I put my focus BACK on the Lord and OFF myself, those changes, whether big or small, don't have the ability to 'take me down'. TY for the giveaway opportunity!!! I really would love to have this in paperback. I have K copy for review purposes but I am big fan of these collections. :-)

  24. Change is a part of life, I'm learning, and while it takes a while to get used to new things, many times they are for the better.

  25. BOTH! LOL! It really depends on the circumstances. There have been, and I'm sure will be again, times when I just can't handle changes especially when they come at the drop of a hat. And change for changes sake has ALWAYS bothered me, you know the old "if it ain't broke" except I say "why change it" ;) . But I know there are times for change and a need for change in many areas, then I welcome it.

  26. There are certain things in life that changes and you can do nothing about them. I lost my father in 2004 which was devastating to me. I had to adjust. I can generally go with the punches but if its something horrid it might take me awhile.

  27. I don't always handle change well, but it's inevitable in life! That particular change (Cameo) killed me and Tamela...there were a lot of tears on our end. I love working with you, Carrie, and am so excited for our future projects, however the Lord leads! You are an amazing writer and friend! <3
