Heart "Racing" Romance

In A Love Like Ours, author Becky Wade pens a stirring, captivating novel of hope and heartbreak, that powerfully sweeps the reader's emotions from the horrors of war-torn Iraq to the peaceful paddocks and lush, verdant pastures of Whispering  Creek Horses.

After 20 years, Lyndie James has returned to Texas anxious to see her childhood best friend, Jake Porter. Jake's older brother runs Whispering Creek, a ranch that trains racehorses, and Lyndie applies there for a job exercising thoroughbreds. Jake had served with the Marines in Iraq, and when an IED hit his Humvee and took the lives of three of his friends, he turned cold, bitter, and continued to suffer from anxiety and reoccurring nightmares. The beautiful, sunshiny Lyndie is a woman on a mission...to train and score the role as jockey to the magical stallion, Silver Leaf...and to save Jake from himself and the scars that run much deeper than the one on his handsome face.

Becky Wade, where have you been all my life?! To be quite frank I am not a big fan of horse racing, but when mixed with square dancing and tall, good looking Texans in Stetsons, exquisite toe curling romance, and a dangerous accident on the track, I found my heart racing right alongside the thoroughbreds! What an amazing read! I started out slowly and sped to the finish line late into the night to see how or if everything was going to turn out for Jake and Lyndie. Becky Wade is a powerful writer and this new fan anxiously awaits her next book! With well fleshed out characters and the message of salvation included throughout, A Love Like Ours is definitely one novel you don't want to miss!

"Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love." ~Mother Teresa~ (quote from A Love Like Ours)

  2. Don't enter me in the draw because I'm reading A Love Like Ours right now. Have about 100 pages to go and I'm in that must-read-slower-so-it-will-last-longer-no-read-faster-have-to-see-what-happens-next phase. LOL I love the way Lyndie coaxes reactions out of Jake. So painstakingly slow and not obvious at first...such fun to read. Here's hoping for a happy ending. :-)

    1. Thank you, BONNIE. It wasn't my intention to play on words...they just flew out when I was typing. God must have given them to me b/c I had a terrible migraine when writing this one. A beautiful cover -- along with a beautiful storyline. I believe you'll love it!

  5. Hi Diana! Is this your first Becky Wade book? If so, you've been missing out. Her book My Stubborn sort of brought me around to the contemporary romance genre, I normally stick to historicals but love Becky's modern books.

    1. I love historicals, PATTY, but since I've starting reviewing full-time so to speak, I realized I needed to branch out and broaden my horizons. lol I do have My Stubborn Heart on my Kindle, but never got around to reading it. I loved this one and am looking forward to more books by this author! I have read a lot of contemporary suspense by Colleen Coble, Nancy Mehl, etc.

  10. Diana, if you haven't read Becky's other books, I highly recommend them. Though her books about the Porter family all stand alone, it's nice to have the continuity of the other stories. Besides, they are just excellent romances! I'm looking forward to reading Jake's story in A Love Like Ours and finding out what the other Porters are doing now. Thanks for a very good review and the chance to win the book.

  11. Been seeing this one around for a bit and it's definitely on my to-read list!! Looks and sounds like a great book. Becky tackles the aftermath of the suffering some of our veterans go through in this one, from what I understand. I'm sure she handles it with grace! I'd love to read this one for myself. Thank you Diana for your wonderful review. I especially enjoyed the quote from Mother Teresa. A smile does go a long way!

  18. DIANA!!! Though I don't get on FB all that much anymore, I stumbled on this review and grinned ear-to-ear throughout because your reaction to Becky Wade's writing is SO similar to what mine was. Where had this author been all my life???? Ahem ... in the crib, no doubt, since the little brat is young and gorgeous, both inside and out!

I actually hadn't read Becky until I got an email from a dear friend of mine, Casey Herringshaw, who told me I needed to read Becky Wade because she was, and I quote, "the contemporary Julie Lessman." Wellllllll, you can imagine how I jumped on that, and OH. MY. GOODNESS!!! I don't know if we're anything alike in our writing, but I DO know she is an author whose book I would preorder without reading anything about it because she is hands-down, one of THE BEST authors in the CBA today, contemp or historical, and I devour everything she writes.

Fortunately for me, I am now on Becky's influencer list, so I just received A Love Like Ours yesterday and cannot WAIT to dive in after I finish my Carol Award books to judge. :)

Thanks for the GREAT review, Diana -- you OWG girls reallllly know how to write them!!

    Hugs,
    Julie

Thank you for your oh, so kind words to me and especially Becky! I'm so glad I "found" her! You are now BOTH up there on my top author list, which is steadily growing. :/

      Hugs back,
      Diana
