Love and Secrets on the Battlefield

We know war is brutal and often void of hope and life. But Marian Baay’s Civil War romance, ‘The Officer’s Daughter’, brings a burst of light to the dark ugliness of the Civil War. In this highly engaging novella, we read of a sweet and unexpected romance found on the battlefield – the last place one would ever imagine to find love!

Colonel Brady, having long lost his wife, brought up one of his six sons and his only daughter mostly without a woman’s influence. Is it any wonder the daughter was very much a tomboy? When her father and brothers departed to fight in the war, she was left behind and alone. So she did what any tomboy would do in that situation; she sold the farm animals, donned a disguise, and joined the army as well!

Captain Andrew Burns discovers the truth of the incognito soldier in his regiment but is smitten by her charms and dark, glittering eyes, and concedes to keep her secret. However, when a safe assignment goes awry for this soldier and Corporal Shane Dean, it’s not only her secret that’s in danger, it’s her very life.

Marian Baay has written an arresting story that wrapped me in the lives of these characters. Truly captivating, it is simply not a story you can lay down until it’s finished. Located in Nashville in the year 1864, ‘The Officer’s Daughter’ gives us a glimpse into some of the trials and battles of this heartbreaking war. It also provides a beautiful tale that gifts hope and life. I can’t wait to read more stories from my newest favorite author!

Carrie wrote the first volume in last year's Civil War series that was set in 1863. I have written the second volume in this year's Civil War series that is set in 1864. I have also written another Civil War romance last year called Heaven Is Not Far. You can find both books on Amazon.
