Compelling Historical Romance

In When The Heart Heals, author Ann Shorey takes us on a suspense filled journey into the intriguing life of a lovely young woman's quest for a career, independence, a sense of belonging—and love.

Rosemary Saxon had begun her nursing career in St. Louis during the Civil War, and having moved to the quaint town of Noble Springs, Missouri, wishes to continue in that profession in spite of folks' prejudice against female nurses. Against his better judgement, Dr. Elijah Stewart hires her to assist him in his practice, and instantly begins to butt heads with the willful, but pretty young nurse. Her knowledge of herbs and diagnosing and treating his patients with them is a constance source of contention between the two. In spite of everything, Rosemary's first blush of love blossoms into something much deeper for the handsome doctor.

Before long, Rosemary begins to receive threatening notes and someone vandalizes her herb garden and her greenhouse. Who would do such a thing and why? When Elijah finally proposes to Rosemary and she says "yes", and his supposed fiance flounces into town displaying his engagement ring on her finger...does Rosemary have the courage to remain in Noble Springs? Or is returning to St. Louis the safest solution to all of her problems?

Ann Shorey has penned an engrossing love story with unforgettable characters...humanly flawed but so very endearing. With an intriguing storyline, interspersed with suspense and a spiritual thread of forgiveness, this is one I highly recommend! A nicely written story that is guaranteed to warm your heart, be sure to put When The Heart Heals at the top of your reading list today!

This book is available through Amazon, CBD, DeeperShopping, and your local bookstore.

  1. Thank you for that beautiful review of 'When the Heart Heals', DIANA! And after enjoying Ann's first book of this series so much, I am going to follow your advice and put this on at the top of my reading list as soon as I purchase it! I can't believe I haven't done so already... I can only plead temporary insanity! ;)

    1. Thanks, NOELA! Or maybe just temporary "I already have tons of books I need to get read!" LOL Although that probably isn't a "temporary" situation...it isn't with me and hope it never will be! haha

  7. Another great review, and another book for the climbing TBR pile. Hey, Teresa (& the rest of you too...) any idea at what point we run out of space on our Kindle apps? I'm nearing 2,000 now, & I kept wondering if I will receive a message saying, "Sorry, you have too many--go read some more of them!" But I keep adding and would love to win this one. ;-)

    1. I enjoyed Edge of Light, too, A J. I have always thought she had some of the prettiest covers, too!

Got your name in the draw!

    2. Diana--I always thought that beautiful covers were nice, but never really thought of them as being an important thig for book sales...until, I saw a book recently with a very boring cover! She comented to "not let the book cover trick you", but I thought--how sad, that she didn't think more about that cover BEFORE it was published!

    3. Vicki, I have read some boring books with beautiful covers, but I won't buy a book with an ugly one. Covers definitely sell books and I, like you, am surprised at some of them!

  10. They do have beautiful covers! I don't think I have read any of Ann's books. So many books so little time...
I have about 300 on my Kindle and thought that was bad. I guess I'm nowhere near having to worry about space you Diana!

    2. Bonnie, The marketing department at Revell chose this title. I think it's perfect, too. In addition to the herbal remedies, Rosemary's heart has to heal in many ways, also.
      Thank you for your comments.
