In When The Heart Heals, author
Ann Shorey takes us on a suspense filled journey into the intriguing life
of a lovely young woman's quest for a career, independence, a sense of
belonging—and love.
Rosemary Saxon had begun
her nursing career in St. Louis during the Civil War, and having moved to
the quaint town of Noble Springs, Missouri, wishes to continue in that
profession in spite of folks' prejudice against female nurses. Against his
better judgement, Dr. Elijah Stewart hires her to assist him in his practice,
and instantly begins to butt heads with the willful, but pretty young nurse.
Her knowledge of herbs and diagnosing and treating his patients with them is a constance
source of contention between the two. In spite of everything, Rosemary's first
blush of love blossoms into something much deeper for the handsome doctor.
Before long, Rosemary
begins to receive threatening notes and someone vandalizes her herb garden and
her greenhouse. Who would do such a thing and why? When Elijah finally proposes
to Rosemary and she says "yes", and his supposed fiance flounces into
town displaying his engagement ring on her finger...does Rosemary have the
courage to remain in Noble Springs? Or is returning to St. Louis
the safest solution to all of her problems?
Ann Shorey has penned an
engrossing love story with unforgettable characters...humanly flawed but so
very endearing. With an intriguing storyline, interspersed with suspense and a
spiritual thread of forgiveness, this is one I highly recommend! A nicely
written story that is guaranteed to warm your heart, be sure to put When The Heart Heals at the top of your reading list today!

Thank you for that beautiful review of 'When the Heart Heals', DIANA! And after enjoying Ann's first book of this series so much, I am going to follow your advice and put this on at the top of my reading list as soon as I purchase it! I can't believe I haven't done so already... I can only plead temporary insanity! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, NOELA! Or maybe just temporary "I already have tons of books I need to get read!" LOL Although that probably isn't a "temporary" situation...it isn't with me and hope it never will be! haha
DeleteDIANA you have done it again....made me want ANOTHER book!! lol I am quickly running out of room on my Kindle Fire, but hey it's for a good cause! Who would want to run out of room because of too many songs or pictures or documents?!....Yes! Books are a far better option!! :D
ReplyDeleteA girl can't EVER have enough shoes...or books! ;) Thanks, T!
Deletewould love to win. angelachesnut246@gmail.com

Dropping your name in the hat, SHIRLEY!
DeleteThank you for the super review, Diana! I look forward to learning who wins the drawing!
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome, Ann! My pleasure!
DeleteAnother great review, and another book for the climbing TBR pile. Hey, Teresa (& the rest of you too...) any idea at what point we run out of space on our Kindle apps? I'm nearing 2,000 now, & I kept wondering if I will receive a message saying, "Sorry, you have too many--go read some more of them!" But I keep adding and would love to win this one. ;-)
ReplyDeletevmarney(at)hotmail(dot)com
LOL, VICKI! It was 2,000 on my regular Kindle, Vicki, but I have no clue as to how many on the Kindle Fire. I believe it's much more, tho.
DeleteI don't actually have a Kindle, but a PC app on my computer & an iPad app on my iPad--also wondering if I put books "into the cloud" if they still cout agaist your totals. I guess eventually, I will fid out. LOL
DeleteI have no idea, VICKI, but maybe I better quit telling you about freebies! LOL!
DeleteI enjoyed Ann Shorey's books. Edge of light was the first one I had read and have followed her work since that time. I look forward to reading many more from this fine author. Please include me in the giveaway opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Edge of Light, too, A J. I have always thought she had some of the prettiest covers, too!
DeleteGot your name in the draw!
Diana--I always thought that beautiful covers were nice, but never really thought of them as being an important thig for book sales...until, I saw a book recently with a very boring cover! She comented to "not let the book cover trick you", but I thought--how sad, that she didn't think more about that cover BEFORE it was published!
DeleteVicki, I have read some boring books with beautiful covers, but I won't buy a book with an ugly one. Covers definitely sell books and I, like you, am surprised at some of them!

Got it! THX!
DeleteThey do have beautiful covers! I don't think I have read any of Ann's books. So many books so little time...
ReplyDeleteI have about 300 on my Kindle and thought that was bad. I guess I'm nowhere near having to worry about space you Diana!
pattymh2000(at)yahoo(dot)com
I actually only have about 110 on my Kindle...but also have lots of paperbacks! VICKI above is the one with 2,000 on her Kindle! Yowzah! I was just telling her the limit that a regular Kindle will hold. LOL
DeleteThank you for your most helpful review.

You're welcome, MARY! And thank you for coming by OWG!!!
DeleteI have read this wonderful book and absolutely loved the characters! Now I need to go back and read the first one. (If I win, that is what I'm picking!) :) Great review! And funny, I was wondering the limit on Kindles, myself. I have no clue how many are on mine, but I need to start reading.

ReplyDeleteHello my OWG friends. Hoping you are all well. Ann's book sounds so interesting. Don"t remember seeing the first one. I must throw my name in the pot. (Or it hat?) Anyway would love to win. MAXIE mc2622(at)me(dot)com
I have my own little cyberhat here, MAXIE, and I just dropped your name in it. :)
DeleteI love the storyline in When the Heart Heals, especially the fact that Rosemary uses herbs to diagnose & treat patients (& her very name is a herb!). I don't have any of Ann's books & would love to read this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win one of your books, Ann!
bonnieroof60(at)yahoo(dot)com
Clever title, I agree, BONNIE! The dear handsome dr. was not crazy about the whole herbal thing! ;)
DeleteBonnie, The marketing department at Revell chose this title. I think it's perfect, too. In addition to the herbal remedies, Rosemary's heart has to heal in many ways, also.
DeleteThank you for your comments.
Blessings!
wow, this looks very interesting.....love exciting books to read! Thanks, Rhonda

Britney, you are so welcome! I hope you can get a copy in your hands asap! You'll so enjoy it!
DeleteGood enough review that just based on it, Ann's book should be a movie. It would be great--Hallmark or otherwise! Pattiiverson@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteFrom your mouth to God's ear, my sweet friend Patti!
DeletePATTI, what a kind compliment. To both Ann and I! I agree this would make a wonderful movie!
ReplyDeleteWould really love to win a print copy of the book.

If you win, SQUIRES, you shall have the desire of your heart! Lol And a lovely paperback it is!
DeleteDIANA!!! You have done it again...topple, topple goes my TBR :) I would love to read Ann's books. They sound wonderful! Thanks, sweet friend for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like something a book loving turkey would say, "topple, topple..." lol It also sounds like something I would say. :/ You're so welcome!! <3
DeleteDiana, I found my way to your blog, as you can see. :) I think I was too tired to think it through earlier. Thanks for the great post.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I'm just so glad you found the post! Hope you got some good rest!
DeleteMaria Thomas. I'd just love when the heart heals. Civil war historical fiction is very interesting. Add a woman in a male controlled world - that's definitely a great read. Plainfancy4@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteWelcome to OWG, Maria! It was definitely a male controlled world back then. It was considered quite scandalous to be a nurse!
