Diana's Two Year Anniversary!

How about raising a cup of tea or coffee to toast the lovely Diana's two year anniversary on Overcoming With God!  We've gone through some changes since then such as adding three more awesome reviewers and changing our name from Overcoming Through Time (Carrie's original blog name and her byline) to Overcoming Through Time - With God's Help, and now Overcoming With God!

We met in West Columbia, South Carolina, the weekend of my nephew's high school graduation.  I have to give Paul Flowers credit for getting us together because my GPS was putting me round and round in circles while the worst rain shower I've seen in SC (other than a hurricane) came down!

In person, like on the blog--Diana is the "hostess with the mostest!"

We are giving away a lovely teacup set to one of our followers.  Tell us how long you've been a Follower and what brought you here to OWG, originally, to enter!

Here are some felicitations/endorsements(!) for Diana:

*****
Absolutely THRILLED to give you a sentence, but "short"???? Do you realize what you are asking?? ;)

Here you go, and I will be there with bells on. :)

SUPER CONGRATS to hands-down one of my FAVORITE reviewers on the planet -- your excellence as a reviewer of truly inspiring and insightful reviews is only surpassed by your warmth and kindness as a person.

Hugs,
Julie

We are also giving away a coffee mug to one of our Colonial Quills/Colonial American Christian Writers friends or a CQ Follower.

Diana has done many a guest review over at CQ in the past couple of years!

Put CQ on your comment and indicate how long you have been a Follower on Colonial Quills.

And we have a devotional by Liz Curtis Higgs for one of our readers.  Diana and I knew we were meant to be connected when we discovered we both read the same devotional every night (a Joyce Meyer one.) We both love Liz and Joyce!

ALSO, in celebration, Carrie is giving TWENTY (ten for each year of Diana's tenure on the blog!) copies of her novella "Return to Shirley Plantation" to FOLLOWERS.  Put OWG on your comment.

Pull up a chair--we've got tea and coffee aplenty and lots of cake, too!  Welcome!!!

  11. DIANA!!! I have had this date on my calendar for a long time now because I would NEVER want to miss the anniversary of one of my favorite FAVORITE friends, people, and blogger/reviewers in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!

From the first time we connected several years ago, I KNEW we would be good friends, Diana, because you have the warmth, kindness and gentleness as a reviewer that authors SO appreciate, whether the review is a 5-star or less, and I thank you for that. Reviewing is not an easy job, especially when a reviewer does not care for a book, but you handle this task with honesty, grace, and true writing talent -- an unbeatable combination!

Without question, the Christian market is blessed to have you supporting Christian fiction, my friend, and I am blessed to know you!!

  15. Congrats and Happy 2 year Anniversary Diana! Oh gosh...I don't really know how long I've been a follower but I know it has been awhile. What brought me here? It is more like who brought me here. I do earnestly believe that God lead me to this site. Here is a place where we can be open with our hurts, faults, burdens, without being ridiculed and made fun of. We know that if we have need of prayer that this is the place to be. Do you all realize that my healing from my past began here? I have a ways to go yet but thank God for all of you! Diana, you and Carrie have been there for me when I've needed a prayer, kind word, or just a laugh or two! Thank you so much. I pray Diana that you have many more years with OWG. ♥ You!

When CARRIE asked me to be a contributor to OWG we held hands and prayed for what you just shared with us -- that our blog be not just about books, but a place of healing and ministry to all those who come here. And God answered our humble prayer. We felt His presence strongly that day as we sat in my livingroom and He has been faithful.

  18. Ms. Flowers,

I am not sure if you caught my reply the other day,... as I posted it a bit late, {as last week was not the best week for me, I had a bad virus and had to duck out!},...the words that you and Mr. Pura said on my behalf touched me, and I wanted to leave you both a note back in kind. What initially drew me into OWG + the CQ, is the heart that is behind the blogs, the dedication to the craft of writing and history, and the sharing of a passion for well-written and conceived books! :) I am always drawn into your reviews because you make the stories come alive and I enjoy your perspective of having read them!

The bookaways are always keen, but I have always appreciated the interaction between writers and readers the most, as any giveaway win to me is rather seredipitious in nature! What holds my attention are the women behind the blogs, and the happy conversations that infuse themselves to the comment threads! It's a lovely place to drop by, hang out, and converse with people who are kind and engaging such as yourself!

I always celebrate someone whose passion is infectious and can ignite a joy in someone else, and you surely give this out freely to everyone who puts OWG a stop on their blogosphere hop! :) I will enjoy getting to know you better as time shifts forward, and I regret if on occassion I have to duck out and miss some of the wickedest posts that come along!

//OWG + CQ: within the past five months, as I am not remembering exactly which month I started to get RSS feeds but it was the very same moment I found both the CQ & OWG! :) If you get a positive sense about a blog, in my opinion there isn't any time to waste: I set up the RSS feeds, become a regular reader and post as much as I can! :)

    2. Ms. Flowers,

Hmmm,... I am not sure about the 'bad' meaning 'good' as those of whom are younger than me are the ones who started that, as I am in my early 30s! LOL I use wicked to express certain things, inasmuch as they do up in New England!? Where you'll find the phrase 'wicked good'!? I picked up the expression whilst reading British stories and watching a heap of BBC! I've turned it into my own superlative of choice: wicked sweet, smashingly wicked, wickedest, etc! It simply means the equilvant of the Aussies or Brits who say "smashing!", or on the level that something that is robustly keen and worth celebrating!

I'm thankful that my presence brings a smile! Those who give out joy will always receive it back, and those of you on this blog must surely get a lot of joy boomeranging back to you! :)

  19. Thank you, JORIE! I thought you were younger than in your early 30's for some odd reason, although your posts ARE very mature and well written, to be sure. :/ Love that...alot of joy boomeranging back! And please feel free to call me Diana.

I don't quiet remember when I started following, but I try very hard not to miss any postings. I have and am enjoying all of them. It is so wonderful to read the reviews of the books as well as learning more history from the blogs. The Lord is blessing what you are writing and for that we give Him the glory. :)

Diana is indeed one of the most gracious and endearing friends I've met and she is a champion reviewer and a wonderful example of encouragement to me as a fellow reviewer and blogger. Thank you my sweet friend for blessing all of us with your ease of writing that draws us to your reviews over and over. It is a blessing to know you.

  36. I found OWG through the yahoo group ACFW when I started looking for online book clubs to be a part of a couple of months ago. When I saw the name I thought about my cancer struggle I have gone through the last year. I'm over treatments but it seems harder to deal with now than before so the name, Overcoming with God, intrigued me since I was having such issues with my diagnosis and my faith. I have followed OWG since and have been led to some wonderful books that inspire me through the struggles of others. I still have a long road to go but I'm getting there.

I haven't followed CQ but I looked at it and will sign up. I love historical fiction the most and I love reading the information writers post on different topics. I have learned so many cool things through these blogs...now that I am old enough to appreciate history! :)

  39. Happy Two Years Anniversary, Diana!! I've always loved to read and for quite a number of years, I really became interested in Amish and Christian fiction. Then I developed a spine disease and in my last cervical spine surgery, there was a medical error and I became disabled. Since I have more time for reading, I've become interested in learning about the authors. That's how I became acquainted. Thank you for entering me in your giveaway.

  41. Congratulations Diana! Glad you are a part of OWG. Oh my, this is asking a lot of this worn out brain of mine. As I've said before, my Forgetter works better these days than my Rememberer. Seems I've been here for quite awhile, but don't remember when I was first. And, not sure which place I was visiting on Facebook when I saw this wonderful site. I love OWG and CQ. Sorry wasn't here earlier today but too much going on. Messed my car up bad when I had made a curve onto the street near my home when I slammed my front tire into a curb. You would have thought I had hit another car. Then when I moved the wheel over the back tire hit. Completely ruined both tires and and ruined the Rims too, And, the hub caps. I had to try to get it to a place to get it out of the street and was some wild ride and was just barely going. My son wasn't in town so had to leave it in a parking lot and my son came to the rescue the next morning. He brought 2 tires he had and went and got some used rims from somewhere. But it ruined something under the front end too, because the regular tire wouldn't fit. Had to use my Do-nut spare, Then he creeped along very slowly got it to my driveway. Call the claim office, but they won't do anything on week-ends, so had to tend to all of that today. Had been sick and was returning home when this all happened. Have to get a Rental car tomorrow(they didn't have one today). Please pray for me, as I'm not used to driving any car other car than mine, so will be nervous. So glad I wasn't hurt tho, and wasn't another car I hit. Still not feeling very good, but hopefully soon. Hate I missed all of this. i love all of you girls. MAXIE
