Kimberley Woodhouse is the author of Mountain Wishes and Denali Guardians in the DenaliDreams novella collection, and of Welcome
Home, A Life That Matters, No Safe Haven, and Race Against Time.
Kimberley,
welcome to Overcoming With God. We
appreciate your willingness to share your testimony of overcoming with our
readers.
Would
you tell us about the most difficult thing in your life you have had to
overcome, with God’s help?
That would have to be the diagnosis of my daughter’s
rare neurological condition, and then again, when she was diagnosed with
another rare condition and had to undergo brain surgery. Those were the
toughest days of my life.
When Kayla was a baby, we noticed there were some
things “not right.” We immediately started searching for answers only to find
out two years later that there would be no “cure,” no easy fix. The Lord worked
on me in a huge way. Through this process, I realized not only that I didn’t control anything, but I didn’t want to be in control anymore. God is
the Great Physician. He made Kayla, He understood her—even when all the doctors
were baffled. And I found myself no longer searching for answers because I knew
the One Who had the answers.
What
is your favorite bible verse and why?
James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you face
trials of many kinds, knowing that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking anything.”
It’s hard to face trials and tough times, but
through each and every one—I’ve learned precious lessons. I’ve leaned on the
Lord wholly and completely. And I’ve been able to praise Him through it.
Our faith will be tested, but we must persevere. I’m
looking forward to heaven and being mature and complete. Aren’t you?
Disability
friendliness: Is this latest release available in audio format or do you have
any other works available on audio? Do
your e-books have audio capability? Do you have any in large print?
I know No Safe
Haven is available in large print/hardcover.
What
has been the most important thing you hope your readers will get from your
books and why?
That the joy of the Lord is real. It’s always there.
No matter what. It’s our job to grab onto it and hold on!
As you researched your books, did you learn anything that particularly touched your heart?
Oh, each project has taught me so much. Mountain Wishes taught me a lot about cancer survivors and my dear friend who passed away.In this latest work, do you have any topics useful for bibliotherapy, or therapeutic influence through reading about a disorder or situation?
Cancer, cancer survivors, stalking, and many others
issues including fear. I know books can be used in healing in so many ways.

Thank you so much for being with us this week on OWG, KIMBERLY, and for sharing your moving testimony of your little girl's illness. I can't even imagine going through such a thing -- I use to freak out when my kids had a high fever. Also sending prayers your way for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteSorry, KIMBERLEY, for misspelling your name above. :( Very pretty!
DeleteI'm sitting in Kim's living room helping her respond to all the wonderful comments while she recovers from emergency surgery. She is grateful for the opportunity to share part of the story. However, I am not above tattling and telling you she freaks over high fevers, too.
DeleteLoved the interview! The things we go through in life can seem so difficult. But we know god is in control. I would love t read your books. Thanks for the chance. Blessings

Thank you, DARLENE, for coming by! How would we make it through without His strength? I am looking forward to hearing more about Kim's books this week as I haven't had the pleasure of reading one yet!
DeleteThank you for "liking" Kim's page!!
In case you missed it, Kim had emergency surgery, so I'm helping her respond. The wonderful thing about the Woodhouse family and their testimony is that they are as genuine in person as this interview suggests. And the books are fantastic, so keep your fingers crossed.
DeleteHi Kim, Thanks so much for sharing a little about your daughter and your faith journey. I can certainly understand the questions involved when one of our children are sick. Truly, the Lord is the only One to hold onto and He does give us the strength we need to persevere.
ReplyDeleteDenali Dreams looks interesting. I don't believe I've read one of your books yet.
Blessings ~ Anne

ReplyDeleteKIMBERLEY thank you so much for sharing your amazing testimony with us on OWG. God is truly all we need when things aren't going the way we want. We have to remember He knew our name before the foundation of the world. He knows everything we are going to encounter in our lives and He has gone before us and paved the way. So sorry you are not feeling well, I'm praying for a speedy recovery for you. :)
ReplyDeleteKim says thanks for the prayers. She's feeling pretty lousy today and is hoping the pain lessens tomorrow. She asked me to help respond.
DeleteYou are absolutely correct, God is all we need. And he takes things which seem insurmountable and turns them into a testiment of his sufficiency.
Thanks for a great interview. From the sounds of this interview, I think I would really enjoy ANY or ALL of these books. Wouldn't it be fun to win one?!?

PATTY, I agree! That is too cool! I can't even get my daughter to read books, let alone write one with me. :)
DeleteAnd, PATTY, you can't even imagine how much fun it is to watch the two of them go back and forth trying to figure out what's going to happen next. "No, you can't have him do that. I'm about to kill him in the next chapter."
DeleteThanks for your inspiring story. I can't imagine going through something like that. These all look really good, especially the fiction! KW shopgirl152nykiki(at)yahoo(dot)com

ReplyDeleteMy dear , dear OWG friends, I'd love to have you pray for my great-grandbaby, Evie, as she will have surgery on this Thursday. She has a pretty bad double clef lip and a clef palette also. Her surgery will be done at the Shriners Hosp. in Houston. I pray GOD will control the doctors hands and watch over her, All prayers appreciated. She is almost 3 mo. old.
Thanks! Maxie
Oh poor baby! I will pray for her, and I know the other ladies will pray too, when they read this.
DeleteCARRIE, DIANA, NOELA, TERESA, please pray for Maxie's great grandbaby, Evie! Thanks!
We are praying for baby, EVIE! Those grandbabies are so near and dear to our hearts, MAXIE, so I can imagine how you must be feeling. May God grant you peace and comfort as well.
DeleteMAXIE I will be praying for your sweet Great-Grandbaby. It breaks our hearts when our loved ones go through painful things but when it is a baby it hurts us a lot more. I know God will be watching over her and will keep her safe.
DeleteThank you Heavenly Father for blessing little EVIE and watching over her during this procedure on Thursday. In Jesus' Name AMEN
We love you MAXIE, please let us know how well EVIE does! :)
KIM, KAYLA and I will be praying, too. Please let us know how the surgery went.

Hugs and blessings, Kara KW!
Hey KARA, good to see you, girl! I think you will enjoy Kim's books.
DeleteThanks, KARA. I can't wait to hear what you think of the books. My advice to anyone who will listen is to remember to breath.
DeleteAnd to all of you, KIM is waving hello from her comfy chair where we have forced her to sit quietly and not lift, type, or do anything that will get her in trouble with the doctors.
I enjoyed the interview thank you & I must say your books do look wonderful.

Thanks, Mary. By any chance are you my friend Mary from Oregon? If so, I'm singing, "It's a Small World" for the rest of the month!!
DeleteKim is still not feeling good enough to respond herself, so I'm helping out again tonight. The books are great. I hope you get copies and enjoy them.
I liked the interview, especially the part about not wanting to be in control, and God knowing what you child needs because He created your child!
