Mountain Wishes by Kimberley
Woodhouse
Karon Granger is a 32-year-old cancer survivor. God gave her a second
chance to live and now she’s planning to really live her life. It is her wish
to climb the highest mountain in North America—the Denali in Alaska. Her other
wish is to fall in love, get married and have children.
After a year of preparation, she is leaving for Alaska to climb the
Denali, together with her brother. While she is in Alaska she meets a handsome
mountaineering ranger named Zack. She is attracted to him and he also shows
interest in her. But Karon is afraid that he will turn her down when he finds
out that she had cancer.
While climbing the mountain they get into a dangerous situation and Zack
and his crew must go out to their rescue. Will they get to them in time? Is
Karon strong enough to stay on her feet while waiting for the rescue team?
I love adventurous stories and I love mountains, so this story was right
up my alley. I really liked Kimberley’s writing style. The only regret I have
is that the story was so short.
Daring Heights by Ronie Kendig
Jolie Decouteau is a rich heiress and someone wants her dead. She’s going on a trip to climb the Denali with some friends to be away from
the assassin, but will she be safe? The Denali took her brother’s and his
girlfriend Mariah’s life.
David Whiteeagle—one of the rangers at Denali—was Mariah’s brother.
David blames the Decouteau family for his sister’s death. When Jolie and David
see each other again old hurts rise. David is determined to avoid Jolie as long
as she’s around Denali. But when Jolie gets sick and disappears on Denali David
has no other choice than to go after her. Soon they discover that the assassin
must have followed Jolie, but who is he? When spending time together they speak
about their feelings. Can David ever forgive Jolie for being a Decouteau? And
is there a chance to find love for them?
Taking Flight by Ronie Kendig
Deline grew up in Talkeetna. Her father has a restaurant where she’s
helping when she’s not flying tourists around the Denali in her Otter.
Logan started working with the Denali rangers two years ago. He has
liked Deline from the start, but Deline is a tough girl who doesn’t need
anybody…so she thinks, so Logan never had the nerve to ask her out. When
accidents start to happen and Deline’s life is in danger, Logan and David are
trying to help her and a special friendship grows between Deline and Logan. Who
is after Deline? Why is her life in danger?
Denali Guardians by Kimberley Woodhouse
Josh is one of the newest rangers. He has set his sights on Deanna—a
fellow ranger. Deanna has lived in Talkeetna for some years now. She is
friendly and has a smile for everyone, but she has a secret she can’t share
with any of her fellow rangers—she has been hiding in Talkeetna from an
assassin who murdered her sister and parents. After years of hiding in
Talkeetna she receives a letter from the assassin that he has found her. Deanna
calls the FBI for help and they ask Deanna’s fellow rangers to guard her. Josh
is also one of the guardians. They get to know each other better and are
falling in love. Can Josh and the other rangers keep Deanna safe? Will they
catch the assassin before he can hurt or kill Deanna’s guardians/rangers?
Four love stories in one volume—what a feast! I’ve been a fan of Ronie
Kendig’s writing since her debut novel. This is the first work by Kimberley
Woodhouse I have read and I love it!
*Thanks to the publisher for providing me a review copy through

QUESTION: Have you ever been to Alaska or would you like to go?
What a great summarization of this Four-in-one-collection MARIAN! It really does sound like a great feast of stories... and one I think I'm going to have to get!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Alaska, but I've always joked about running away to Alaska in the past when thngs became too tough.. But seriously, if I did have the chance, I would definitely visit as it's such a beautiful place!!
Thank you NOELA! This really was a feast to read.
DeleteAlaska sounds great, but also very cold...
Hi again, NOELA. Kim still isn't feeling good enough to respond herself, so she asked me to send her appreciation for your kind comments. Kim and Ronie are good friends and had a wonderful time collaborating on this collection.
DeleteI LOVE to read stories that take place in Alaska, and loved your review as well, MARIAN! This collection sounds really interesting, however, why does ANYONE want to climb high mountains? Not this chicken girly girl!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Alaska, but my brother in law and his wife went there for vacation and they absolutely loved it. He said the sun was still up til midnight and it was hard for them to get sleep, but the natives there have that handled very well!
I LOVE mountains, DIANA, but I'm not sure if I'd ever dare to climb one. Maybe a small, not too steep one. ;)
DeleteDIANA, I'm with you. This chicken girly girl isn't going on any treks up a mountain either.
DeleteI am helping KIM respond to all these wonderful comments because she's not allowed to be lifting or working until she heals more from her emergency surgery. She is reading all the comments and hoping to be back in action soon.
I haven't been to Alaska but it is on my list of places to visit. Everyone we know who has gone has loved it.This collection sounds great and each story wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jo
I hope you'll get the chance to visit Alaska, JO!
DeleteJO, I am helping KIM respond as she is still too sore from her emergency surgery to do so herself. Their family loved Alaska and would go back in a heartbeat if God opened the way.
DeleteI have never been to Alaska but someday I would love to go. It looks like such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteKatie J.
johnsonk133[at]yahoo[dot]com
Good luck in the drawing, Katie!
DeleteHi Katie,
DeleteI am a friend of KIM's helping her respond tonight. She had emergency surgery and is still not up to holding a laptop.
KIM and her family loved Alaska and recommend at least visiting if you aren't lucky enough to get to live there.
I have never been to Alaska. I really don't think I would like it I don't like cold. The place is beautiful but I think I will stay in the states. We was offered a job there once but we turned it down.it is in the - degrees here in Indiana. I'm think ing of some where warm.
ReplyDeleteGreat review Marian. I would love to read the book. Thanks for a chance of winning one.
Blessings
joeym11@frontier.com
I don't mind a bit of cold, but I think Alaska might be too cold for me too.
DeleteDIANA, I'm helping KIM respond since she is still too sore, but she says you should try Alaska in the summer because it's still beautiful and not as cold as you might think. The views are breathtaking.
DeleteBecca I agree I have seen pics of it. But I think a visit would be good in the summer, but not to live.
DeleteAlaska looks like a beautiful place to visit. I haven't been there but would love to go there some time during their Summer months.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win this book
seraphinangel7@aol.com
I think the Summer months are the best time to visit Alaska.
DeleteJUANITA, I'm helping KIM respond since she is still recovering from her surgery. She highly recommends Alaska in the Summer and hopes you do get a chance to visit someday.
DeleteGood luck with the drawing.
Marian, I loved your review. I haven't been to Alaska but I heard it is beautiful there. Would I ever go? Probably not only because my ears won't allow me to fly!
ReplyDeleteThis collection sounds so good. I can definitely identify with Karen Granger from Mountain Wishes. I too am a cancer survivor and when my now hubby showed interest in dating me and was serious about marrying me I was afraid to tell him that I had had breast cancer for fear he would walk away. God had other plans. John did not walk away and our 9 year wedding anniversary is this Thursday, January 24th!
Blessings!
Judy
judyjohn2004(at)yahoo(dot)com
What a great story, JUDY! So glad your hubby didn't walk away, but married you. You will probably like to read Karon's story.
DeleteAbout the ears...I can identify with that. Mine start hurting like crazy when the plane is descending. Not fun, but still I hope to fly to Canada one day.
JUDY what a wonderful story.. Isn't it great when GOD works out things for our good?! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
DeleteHappy Anniversary, JUDY!!
DeleteJudy--Congrats ion your anniversary--BOTH anniversaries! I too am a BC Survivor and thought this sounded like a book I would enjoy. In my case, I was already married and my loving hubby took great care of my while going thru treatments. It is so great to have a man who loves you "in sickness & health"...
DeleteVicki
JUDY, reading your comments brought tears to KIM's eyes. She loved her friend, Karon, who lost her battle to cancer. The work was written to honor her life and express the hope and courage Karon kept to the end.
DeleteKIM is still too sore from her surgery to be holding a computer, so she asked me to say thanks for the wonderful comment and to reply.
BECCA, what a sweetie you are to fill in for KIM! Please tell her all of us girls at OWG are thinking of her, and praying for a speedy recovery!
DeleteJUDY, per random.org you are a winner for Denali Dreams by Kim and Ronie! Congrats!!!
DeleteMARIAN Great review, I have this one on my kindle and can't wait to start it now that I have read your review. Your reviews always do that to me, just enough info to grab my attention and make me want more! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling me, TERESA! Hope you enjoy the read!
DeleteTERESA, I am helping KIM since she's still feeling rather puny after her surgery. She's been reading the comments, though.
DeleteShe hopes you enjoy the stories and would love to hear what you thought of them when you finish.
Oh this sounds like a wonderful book. I would love to read this.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Alaska. I would like to go some time. I love reading about Alaska. It always seems so majestic and other worldly.
Thanks for the chance to win.
agent_beckster(at)yahoo(dot)com
Hi REBECCA
DeleteMARIAN really made me want to hurry and get to this one, it does sound good!
Alaska is a beautiful place according to my niece that lived there. Thanks for coming by!!
I'd love to see the mountains! I'm crazy about mountains - they are so beautiful! In this book you will climb mountains and enjoy the majestic view!
DeleteREBECCA, I am a friend of KIM's and helping her while she recovers from surgery. (Love your name, by the way. LOL!)
DeleteKIM and her family loved Alaska. They didn't live where the view was always majestic, but Denali is certainly a sight to behold.
Good luck on the drawing.
I would so like to go someday and see the Final Frontier! These stories sound really good, with lots of adventure and danger. Very grateful for this great chance to win a Ronnie Kendig book and looking forward to getting to know Kimberely Woodhouse.
ReplyDeletejennydtipton[at]gmail]dot]com
JENNIFER I think I'll leave the adventures to you and my other friends on here. I wouldn't mind visiting Alaska but only during the summer, I LOVE the late nights of summer, don't think I would like the long days and nights of winter there.
DeleteThanks for coming by and commenting!
I'd love to go on adventure there. And late nights of summer sound great to me!
DeleteJENNIFER, Ronie and Kim are very good friends and have been writing partners for a long time. If you enjoy Ronie, I think you will love Kim & Kayla's work, too.
DeleteKim is still very sore after her surgery, so we are not letting her hold a laptop and respond herself. She is reading everything, though.
I hope that you heel quickly Kim and that your book does well!
DeleteMarian, another wonderful review! I've had my eye on this book for a while and your comments have me MORE interested! I'm currently reading my first book by Ronie Kendig and I'm definitely adding Kimberley's books to my TBR list as well :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Alaska, but my grandmother who is now in heaven, took several cruises there and her photos were always stunning views of the land :) Would love to visit one day!
Thanks for the giveaway and thanks for your wonderful comments, Marian, love seeing what your experience is like with these books :) Hugs and blessings girl! *waving to my OWG sisters*
Hi KARA...waving right back at you!! ;) Doesn't Marian do a good job with her reviews? I have a niece that visited Alaska with a friend for the summer years ago when she got out of High School. She was in the Town that Sarah Palin is from, Wasilla. Don't think Sarah was well known back then! LOL
DeleteKARA, as always your comment brings a smile to my face. :)
DeleteI hope you're enjoying your first Ronie Kendig book. I have read and enjoyed all of her books, and was glad to get to know Kim's works as well in this novella collection.
And TERESA, thanks again for your encouragement. :)
KARA, KIM says photos don't do it justice, so you should plan a trip and see the sights for yourself.
DeleteLOL Becca and Kim, so very true! Alaska is on my list for MUST visit places to see :) Thanks for helping Kim respond to the comments Becca, you are such a blessing! Can't wait to read this book and sending prayers Kim's way :)
DeleteI have never been to Alaska but would love to go. We talked about a cruise a few years ago but it wasn't high on my husband's list. Denali Nat. Park would be an exciting adventure. It was a great review Marian and the book sounds like it would be a wonderful read. Thanks to everyone at OWG for hosting these giveaways on your site. Blessings! Darlene
ReplyDeletespangldlady[at]gmail[dot]com
DARLENE, a cruise to Alaska sounds fantastic! There are so many beautiful places on the earth and you have already seen so many of it! Are you and your husband still traveling?
DeleteDARLENE, as KIM's friend, I have been respond at her request, but I'm taking this one for myself. My daughter and her husband went on a cruise to Alaska for their honeymoon. My daughter, who is not effusive with praise, was enthralled with the land and it's beauty.
DeleteSo my husband and I want to go...someday! :)
I always thought I wanted to go there as a teen...I would love to visit...
ReplyDeletefaithfulacres7@gmail.com
Blessings
Linda Finn
Maybe you will go there one day, LINDA. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see the beautiful mountains there?
DeleteLINDA, KIM hopes you do get a chance to visit someday because it's such a glorious testament to God's creative power.
DeleteI haven't been there. My friends went last year and the photo's they took were amazing! It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that were some amazing photos, Megan! Would you like to go there someday?
DeleteThis looks great! I went to Alaska a couple years ago on a cruise! We visited three cities and they were gorgeous, but we had a rough time while we were out in the ocean. Even some of the staff got seasick! shopgirl152nykiki(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteA cruise sounds wonderful on a calm sea. It's not nice when it's rough out there. Ugh! Good to hear that the cities were gorgeous.
DeleteI have seen the beautiful Teton mountains in Jackson, WY. Don't see how any could be more than that. :) Also the mountains in Colo. I have a niece living in Alaska. She moved there many, many years ago, so she and her husband could act as missionaries(on their own with GOD's help) She absolutely loves and doesn't want to live anywhere else. Her kids are grown with children and they all still there. Me, I think not. The trip is too long and no straight plane to where she lives. The long days would work I guess, but couldn't stand the being dark in the day time. ThinkI'll pass and just look at the beauty thru pictures. I would like to win this book. Take ccare girlfriends.
ReplyDeleteMAXIE mac262(at)me(dot)com
You're right, Maxie. The long days sound great, but dark days in winter time not so great.
DeleteI have seen pictures of the Teton Mountains and they are wonderful indeed!
I would love to win this book! Just the book I need to read when recovering from my foot surgery scheduled in March. I HAVE been to Alaska once - on my 20th wedding anniversary with my now late husband. We wanted to go back on our 25th anniversary, but hadn't saved enough money, so we decided to go back when I retired from teaching at 30 years. Well, my husband died 3 years ago, so that dream is not possible anymore. But, I thank God for my memories of our wonderful visit 8 years ago. We didn't get a chance to see Denali, which was one one of the reasons why we wanted to return. Thanks for offering a book to others!!
ReplyDeleteSusan in NC
susanlulu@yahoo.com
Sorry to hear that you couldn't return with your husband to Alaska anymore. And happy to hear you have great memories.
DeleteGood luck in the drawing, and all the best with the foot surgery in March!
This sounds great--4 different stories to read! Although I travel a lot w/ my hubby for his work (we are currently in Paris), we have never been to Alaska. I keep hoping for a cruise, because I have seen some gorgeous pics from there--maybe someday. Or I can just read the book and 'visit' Alaska thru the book! As I mentioned on a comment above, I am also a BC survivor, so I would enjoy reading a book about someone who had gone thru a similar journey & I would love to win a free book!
ReplyDeletevmarney(@)hotmail(dot)com
Wow, you are in Paris! Maybe you'll see Alaska someday. The pics I see from Alaska are just gorgeous!
DeleteGood luck in the drawing.
MARIAN, VICKI is the friend I was recently reunited with after having not seen one another since our kids were little! I'm so thankful the Lord spared her life, and she is literally all over the world! Was in Hawaii, now in Paris! LUCKEEE!! But VICKI you still haven't visited any place as beautiful as Heaven! Can you imagine?
DeleteDIANA, now I remember! I'd love to travel the world too. ;)
DeleteI have never been to Alaska, but I know quite a few people who lived their at one time. I would love to go someday, and actually take an Alaskan cruise! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this giveaway! I LOVE Romancing America and would love to win Kimberly's :)

DeleteMarian, I've read several reviews of this book. This is the best one I've read, everyone praised the book, you just did an extra good job in your review. I've never been to Alaska. I would like to visit someday as I understand it's breathtaking. Blessings, Susan Fryman susanngarrylee@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAww...thank you for the kind words, Susan! Bless you and good luck. :)
Deletenever been there but would love to go thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteABreading4fun [at] gmail [dot] com
I would, too, APPLEBLOSSOM! There's alot of beautiful places I would love to visit and may never get the chance down here, but Heaven is so much more beautiful than anything we could ever imagine. And that's one place I definitely plan to visit someday and never leave! :)
DeleteYes, I've been to Alaska a few times. On my last trip, we were headed for Denali, but the weather was horrible and we had truck troubles, so I didn't get there. I hope to go back for another try sometime soon. I love Alaska in the two months of summer! Not so much in the long, long winter! Thank you for the opportunity to win Denali Dreams.
ReplyDeletemay_dayzee(at)yahoo(dot)com
How exciting KAY that you've been able to visit Alaska a few times already!! I hope you get to go to Denali next time, but in the meantime you'll just have to visit through the book Denali Dreams... like me!
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
BECCA, thank you so much for stopping by and responding for KIM! Tell her we are praying for a quick recovery. Blessings!
ReplyDeletegood morning !!! I have never been to Alaska, but would love one of the cruises there.. DeleteMy husband, yours truly, and our friends from Canada, went to Alaska, in an RV 13 years ago. We drove 10,000 + miles and had one adventure after another. We stayed 2 nights at a campground in Denali and took an 8 hour bus ride through the park.
ReplyDeleteWe would love to go back and I would love to win this book!

ReplyDeleteWell, I haven't been there, but the book certainly made me enthousiastic. Who knows...maybe I'll visit someday.
Deletei have wanted to go to alaska since i was 12 years old, since i'm 61 i know that it will never happen but love the stories of alaska

DeleteAn Alaskan cruise is on my bucket list. Probably for our 30th wedding anniversary. I hope to see the Aurora Borealis while on the cruise and plan on taking advantage of all the excursions offered. I guess I'd better start saving my $$$.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great, LYNNFORD. Is that 30th anniversary coming soon?

ReplyDeleteischu9@aol.com
That is a beautiful thought. I hope you get the chance to go!
DeleteIt is a beautiful state. I've been lucky enough to go twice (once in the winter and again in summer) and it is beautiful. But it's the people that really make it great!
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for participating and all the encouragement and support I've received from you all this week as I've been recovering from surgery. What a blessing you've been to me!
ReplyDeleteAs to Alaska - well, we lived there for several years - in the bush and in the city. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the state of Alaska.
In fact, Tracie Peterson and I just wrote a book set in Alaska in 1935 during the Matanuska Colonization. We had so much fun.
I hope you all get a beautiful picture of my favorite state through our stories.
Enjoy the journey!!!
God Bless you all.
My friend just told me that I forgot to let you all know something important re: the book with Tracie - It releases from Bethany House a year from now :)
DeleteSee? The medication still has me wonky :)
