For Western Fiction Lovers!

Blurb: Is it possible to marry the wrong man? Rebecca Rice was looking forward to a quiet life and a full stomach by becoming mail-order bride to her shopkeeper intended, Mr. Fordham—until the justice of the peace calls him Thaddeus, not Theodore, proceeded by the title Deputy. Rebecca would never marry a lawman like her father, so an annulment seems in order—and fast, since Rebecca’s true intended is impatient to claim her as his own. But when the legalities take longer than expected, Rebecca wonders if Tad Fordham wasn't the right husband for her all along....

Carrie's Review: In a name mix-up, two cousins end up having their  mail-order bride swapped. Because of her background, Rebecca is horrified to learn that the man she accidentally married is a lawman. She knows all too well the problems that job can cause a family -- her father was a lawman when she was growing up.  Without her mother deceased and her older brother not in touch with her to help her, Rebecca had been corresponding with a mercantile owner.  This story shows a perfect example of why when people meet up in person, even if they have corresponded extensively, why "real life" meetings are so different than on paper!

This western-setting story brings in all the details that western fiction readers love! You won't be disappointed as you go on a wild ride with Rebecca to get to true love! I'm a Susie Dietze fangirl and I've loved all her stories so far! I suggest you read them all, too!!!

  4. Quiet life and full stomach - so basic - sad to say in that time period there weren't many opportunities for women to support themselves. Her plans/expectations definitely went awry, but I am thinking all worked out in an interesting fashion. I always enjoy historical books with a mail order bride theme! dixiedobie at yahoo dot com
