Welcome to our party to celebrate Debbie Lynne Costello's release of her wonderful new novel! As you can see, our knight has just ridden in, looking for his fair lady! Will he find her?
I think he has spied her! What is she wearing? Go to our Facebook party page to post a picture of your own attire for this event!
Make sure to leave a comment on this blog post, though, to enter for our drawings.
Medieval times were not for the faint of heart, and our heroine goes through many trials in the course of her story!
We're serving an apple tart all day long (see Tartys in Applis on Medieval Cookery website). To accompany it, I'm serving mulled apple cider. Also have an egg custard to go with it and crusty bread covered in honey butter.
Serve yourself or wait on the table wenches to bring you around your food. Remember there is no silverware (this is Medieval times, remember?) but we'll bring around some towels for you to clean up with. Meanwhile, have some hot mulled cider!

Isn't Lord Royce handsome? And Lady Brithwin is so lovely! Great cover!
Would you like to write an old-fashioned love letter?
We have just the thing for you--vellum sheets and a quill pen.
While parchment was made from cow hides (ew!) in medieval times, I thought we'd stick with the new-fangled stuff! And who
wouldn't want a hot pink quill pen? Seriously?
I feel pretty sure Lady Brithwin would have enjoyed this.
Since only the privileged, and usually not women, could read
or write in medieval times, I suspect Lady Brithwin would have
had to have snuck around to learn how to do so. She's a lady of
many talents and certainly not bound by convention--one of her
traits I really enjoyed!
Coming up for our evening menu - the cooks are busy in the back!!! |
A knight and his squire preparing for joust |
Ah, I see the jousting tournament is about to get underway!
Gauging by the crowds' reaction there seem to be some favorites already
Giveaway: A pair of silver equestrian earrings (Debbie Lynne owns a number of horses and of course horses feature prominently in the novel!) Another reader will win our parchment and quill set. Debbie Lynne is also giving away a copy of her new release! Meanwhile, make yourself a Medieval party hat (click here.)
Good morning, ladies! Debbie, I'm so happy for your book! And it's #3!
ReplyDeleteThe Apple tart and cider smells and looks delicious! Hot apple cider sounds good, it was a chilly ride! I think I will mingle for a bit then have someone show me to my chamber.
Congrats, DEBBIE LYNNE! We're so proud of you here at OWG!
DeleteTis a handsome brave knight in shining armor to be sure! REGINA, how nice to see you, my lady. What a lovely gown! Please come sit with me a bit whilst we drink a cup of hot apple cider and share the latest gossip, er, news that is. ;)
Ladies, it's so wonderful to be here! Thank you so much for celebrating with me on my release. Hot cider sounds delicious!
DeleteLady Regina, I'm so happy you could travel all the way from the Dakotas! Snowy and chilly here, too, and we are not used to this in Virginia! But with a handsome knight here I'm sure we'll all be distracted!
DeleteLady Diana, you look lovely! We're so happy to celebrate with Lady Debbie Lynne and Lady Brithwin, aren't we!!!
DeleteThank you, Lady Carrie! I love your gown as well, and that color brings out the lovely glow in your cheeks. Very happy, but I certainly hope Lady Brithwin doesn't mind if I steal some time with her knight. I just want to find out if he has an equally charming brother. Perhaps that's anther story. ;)
DeleteHello, Lady Diana. Yes, let us share some news. This apple cider is very delicious, it warms you right up! Yes, it was a long ride from the Dakotas. But I'm so happy to be here for Debbie!
DeleteCarrie, such a delightful party! Thank you!
Hello, Lady Diana. Yes, let us share some news. This apple cider is very delicious, it warms you right up! Yes, it was a long ride from the Dakotas. But I'm so happy to be here for Debbie!
DeleteCarrie, such a delightful party! Thank you!
Congratulations Lady Debbie Lynne on the release of Sword of Forgiveness! Lady Carrie, thank you for hosting another grand party. This morning I am caring for my neighbors two little ones. I will be back after lunch to join in the festivities. Ladies have a marvelous time!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming out so early, Carly! I requested a day off from keeping the grandkids so I could come to my grand release party! Its wonderful seeing you here!
DeleteEnjoy the little ones! BTW, it isn't hard to make a ladies hat for them if they are little girls! Just take a long piece of cardboard and roll it into a cone and secure it (I don't recommend staples!) You can also use flexible craft foam. Then place a pice of cloth or lace or preferably an old chiffon scarf works great and shove that through the top of the cone and tie a knot underneath so it doesn't pull out.
DeleteCongratulations on your book and it being so high on Amazon! The food smells delicious, I will have to go help myself. I don't think I can wait long enough to be served!
ReplyDeleteGood day to you, Becky! Thank you for coming by and celebrating with me and all these wonderful ladies! Surely it is time to break our fast!
DeleteThe scullery maids are keeping busy in the kitchen, Becky!
DeleteThis is the third time I am trying to leave a comment. I hope they don't all show up!
ReplyDeleteGood morning and Congratulations, Debbie Lynne, on your debut release! I haven't read a book set in this era in a long time. Sword of Forgiveness sounds like a great book. I look forward to reading it.
Ill have some of that bread slathered in honey butter, if you don't mind, along with a cup of hot mulled cider. It's gloomy and cool here today.
Oh no, Anne, I'm so sorry! I wonder if Blogger is having a fit? Yesterday, it tried to destroy the whole post! Glad you are here. The apple cider is really yummy! Going to go make some more!
DeleteAnne!!! Thank you for coming by! I'm so glad you persevered! It's good to have you here celebrating with us!
DeleteWell, random.org is making it worth your while, Anne, because you are one of our winners!
DeleteGood morning ladies! It is so good to see you again Lady Carrie and to meet you Lady Debbie Lynne. I so enjoy our gatherings. I love the beautiful gowns everyone is wearing and such a variety of steeds out in the pasture, so mine won't be lonely. It was a chilly ride here, a cup of that hot mulled cider will take the chill off as well as the warm fire. The crusty bread with honey butter smells heavenly. I see some friends over by the fire, I will visit with them awhile.
ReplyDelete~~
Congratulations on your book, Sword of Forgiveness Debbie Lynn. It sounds wonderful.
Blessings,Tina
This is a lovely book, Tina! It will be on my best of 2015! How do you like my sparkly pink conical hat? Is it too much?
DeleteIt is a lovely sparkly hat!
DeleteNice to meet you, Tina! I don't believe I've ever had such a wonderful tea..er...cider party thrown for me! Thank you so much for celebrating with me!
DeleteCarrie, I think your hat is divine!
Oh, Carrie, I adore your hat!
DeleteMany thanks, Lady Carrie for the invite. Tis a lovely day to be inside where is it warm and where friendship is warmer! Heartiest of congratulations Lady Debbie Lynn on the debut of your book, especially that is sits so high in the ratings.
ReplyDeleteI do believe I will go visit with the ladies close to the fire and have a little of the lovely cider. The tart looks wonderful and I will be sure and sample some before I take my leave. Truly is a wonderful day!
The apple tarts smell so good. Here's a nice plate of it with some custard, Betti! And a mug of cider. Yum! Even better is a read--so open the cover and read Lady Brithwin's story!!!
DeleteBetti! Thank you for coming! Carrie does put on quite a party does she not? I'm so blessed to have such wonderful friends, new and old to come celebrate this time with me!!
DeleteI enjoyed the book and a mug of cider sounds delish!
ReplyDeleteSuch a super book! Yes, a mug of cider coming up. We have some roast meat, turnips, carrots, and potatoes on the fire for later, Lady Deanna!
DeleteCongratulations Lady Debbie Lynne on the release of Sword of Forgiveness! So glad to get to be a part of your opening day celebration.. May it go to #1 :)
ReplyDeleteBless you, Deanna! Wouldn't that be a wonderful sight...#1! Thank you for being a reviewer and for helping me get the word out about SOF.
DeleteLady Debbie Lynne I want to tell you congratulations on the debut of Sword of Forgiveness. What a pleasure it was to lose myself in Lady Brithwin and Lord Royce's story. I can truthfully say it's been awhile since I have enjoyed a story as much as their enchanting tale! It took me to a place I didn't want to leave. :-)
ReplyDeleteTeresa! Thank you! What a lovely compliment. (I admit, I'm grinning ear to ear!!) It is such a wonderful feeling to know my book has truly been enjoyed. Thank you so much for sharing that with me and for coming by to celebrate with us!
DeleteOh I actually arrived on time for lunch! Mmmm, the apple tart and cider both sound splendid, I think I will sample them. Debbie, the book captivated me from the first page. I love in-depth medieval romances and yours was very detailed and suspenseful. I highly recommend it to anyone here who hasn't read it yet!! In fact, I might just sit here on a bench and re-read it while everyone else takes their lunch. Don't mind me. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and feel its worthy of a second read! Thank you for coming to the party and celebrating with me.
Delete(Chappy enters the room and is totally swept up in the times.)
ReplyDeleteHello everyone! Thanks so much for the invite to this wonderful party. Everyone looks so beautiful...and handsome. Congrats on your new release, Debbie! I absolutely love the cover...totally draws you in.
May I have some cider, please? I am parched.
Here you go, Lady Chappy! Thank you so much for taking time to come out on this chilly day! Lady Carrie has out done herself, hasn't she?
DeleteYes, she has! Of course I would expect nothing less than wonderful from Carrie.
DeleteYes, she has! Of course I would expect nothing less than wonderful from Carrie.
DeleteSorry, didn't mean to post the same thing twice.
DeleteCongrats on your book. I hope it does well for you. The book sounds great. Love the spread of food you are making me hungry. Good luck and God bless.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lady Tammy! Tis good to see you come by today and celebrate with us. Enjoy the food, Lady Carrie spent many an hour overseeing it.
DeleteCongratulations, Debbie Lynne. Beautiful party, Carrie. And what a sumptuous feast! A very joyous occasion. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, my dear friend, Kathleen, whom I could not have put this story out there without! Thank you for taking the time on your VERY busy schedule to drop in. It truly is a joyous occasion and I thank you dear lady for all your help with my story!

ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by, Susan! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the book! Carrie has outdone herself on the food. And everyone has shopped around to find lovely gowns and steeds that are to die for!
DeleteI would love some of that roast duck and the potatoes smell heavenly, Carrie dear. But as you so aptly put it, I wouldn't want to make a pig of myself either. Probably never again. Oh dear. :o
ReplyDeleteLady Diana! Thank you for coming by. Tis a lovely party here at OWG.
DeleteHello Ladies, you look lovely. I had a wonderful time with the little ones. So good to return to this wonderful celebration of Lady Debbie Lynne! The food smells divine. I hope I didn't miss too much of the party.
ReplyDeleteYou're timing is perfect Caryl! And I want to tell you, I loved your question on the other blog!
DeleteHas the jousting begun? I'm looking forward to seeing our knights in action.....
ReplyDeleteOh Jousting! I love that sport. Let me go find my arm band to give to my favorite!
DeleteI'm loving seeing the beautiful horses & knights.. the dresses are stunning!
ReplyDeleteHad lunch, I ready for some of that beautiful apple pie...
Speaking of horses, sorry I disappeared, I'm afraid my horses had to be taken care of for the evening and unfortunately they are at our farm which at the moment does not have a house on it!
DeleteDid someone say jousting? Show me the arena, I'm all for watching that! I just need to bring my cider with me.
ReplyDeleteThis way, Susan! Have you chosen your knight yet? I have a favorite but I'm not saying. And I'm sure Lady Brithwin is voting and cheering for Lord Royce!
DeleteRumor has it she is! However, he has a fine looking brother who needs to wear a ladies ribbon.
DeleteGood afternoon, Ladies! I just woke up from a delightful nap, feeling refreshed and ready to party on!
ReplyDeleteThe evening meal smells amazing!

DeleteSalutations and best wishes!! I'm so happy for you, Lady Debbie - watching Lady Brithwin's tale climb right up to the top of that Amazon castle!! I'm excited to see that so many friends could attend our party - I think I'll chat with some of them, by the fire, as I savor my apple cider and tart.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a lovely fire as the evening settles in. And thank you, Lady Bonnie. It has been quite an event that I'm so very thankful for! All of you ladies have made this dream come true.
DeleteNot in your contest
ReplyDeletePlease have a wonderful, terrific, God-blessed day
Thank you so much, Chris! You have a blessed evening.
DeleteCongratulations Lady Debbie Lynne! I am so excited for your book, and I cannot wait to read it myself. (I may have convinced a local monk to teach me to read and write. Shh. ;) lol) And Lady Carrie, thank you so much for this lovely party. The refreshments are very delicious. :) I am so terribly sorry that I am late; sadly my son required some extra attention this morning, but I am so very glad that I made it. :) And did I hear correctly that there is to be a jousting tournament?
ReplyDeleteKaren, yes indeed, you are correct. The jousting tournament is about to commence!
