Exotic Suspense!
Windigo Twilight is a gripping, exotic suspense-filled tale that takes place on a mysterious island across the horizon from Lake Superior. A weathered mansion, massive pine trees along the cliff's edge, the sound of the surf crashing below, and rumors of the evil Windigo spirits all lend to the mystique of this dark, cryptic isle.
Rebecca Baxter believes her parents' death due to an explosion on their boat is no accident, especially due to the fact that her estranged relatives would profit handsomely from their deaths. Changing her name to Becca Lynn she secures a position as a research assistant to writer, Max Duncan, on a practically deserted island in the middle of Lake Superior. Becca has not been to Windigo Manor since she was a small child, and is certain none of the remaining family members there will recognize her as she ferrets out information concerning her parents' death. Max Duncan is a handsome, brooding widower for whom Becca begins to feel a deep attraction in spite of herself. When eerie incidents begin to take place, Becca begins to wonder if she has been recognized. When someone frightens her in the woods dressed up as Windigo and her life becomes threatened, Becca unearths secrets she never wanted to find out. Someone wants her out of the way---permanently. And no one in Windigo Manor is to be trusted...including Max Duncan.
Colleen Coble wrote this riveting novel under her maiden name of Rhoads in 2005, and had it republished in 2015. Full of exotic descriptive imagery, the reader will feel as though they are on a tropical island in the Caribbean or Tahiti instead of the United States. Filled with heart racing excitement and melodramatic tension that will send shivers up your spine -- there is never a dull moment in this whodunit! Throw in some romance and a spiritual thread throughout and you have a typical Colleen Coble novel--breathtaking!

DeleteThis looks like a great book. But then, I haven't read anything by Colleen Coble that I didn't like.
ReplyDeletesusanmsj at msn dot com
Me neither, SUSAN! She's a fabulous author. I tend to enjoy her contemporary suspense better than historical b/c of the settings however. You'll enjoy this setting!
DeleteWow I am a die hard print book reader, but I will make an exception to get a chance to win, read, and review this! :D The only place I've heard of a Windigo was on the movie the Lone Ranger! LOL! It really grabbed my attention when I saw it here! :D
ReplyDeleteMany Blessings, Amada (pronounced: a.m.a.th.a)
P.S Excellent review Diana! Hugs, A.
AMADA, my sweet friend. It's so great to see you again! I had never heard of Windigo, so you're one up on me! lol I got so lost in this one I didn't realize it wasn't a paperback. haha Lotsa luck to you!
DeleteThank you Diana! :) I was floored when I saw it, because I though it was something completely made up for the movie and the movie alone! Maybe Colleen's seen The Lone Ranger movie! LOL! Oh that sounds good I love when you get so into a book you don't care what format it's in! :D
DeleteLOL, AMADA! It does sound familiar the more I think about it. Maybe that is where I first saw it, too. But this Windigo is scarreeee...IF one believes in ghosts! Which I don't. haha
DeleteCertainly caught my attention thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat was my intention, MARY! lol I hope you enjoy the book when you get the chance to read it! :)
DeleteI don't know why my first post is always not posted but I am being persistent because this sounds like an excellent contest. I love everything about the review, the title, the cover, the author, the sound of the title, the suspense, the mansion, etc. I could go on and on. I sure would love to win this book. Thanks for the contest.

I stumbled upon it by accident on Amazon, SUSAN! Am so glad I did! Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteBeautiful review, Diana, thank you!! I love the Great Lakes, romance, excitement, tension and spiritual threads - the word "exotic" entices me to try this spell-binder, even though suspense isn't my favorite genre. I've read nothing but wonderful comments about Colleen's writing and feel sure "WINDIGO TWILIGHT" is no exception. Beautiful cover and enchanting title, also!!
ReplyDeleteShared post!!
BONNIE, I believe Colleen's book will make a new suspense fan out of you yet! lol I don't care for all of it (like the real graphic stuff), but some authors' suspense books just get to me & I have a hard time putting them down until I find out whodunit! TY, Bonnie, for your always kind words and for sharing!
