Happily Ever After?

Masterful storyteller, Melanie Dickerson, has crafted another magical, enchanting novel that sweeps the reader away on a journey into the whimsical land of knights, castles, lovely maidens, and wicked stepsisters!

Since her father's death, the lovely maiden, Gisela, dreams of happier childhood memories when the Duke used to visit with his handsome son, Valten. Now she is forced to live in servitude to her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, daydreaming of the young knight in Hagenheim Castle. Her only happiness is her horses, which her cruel stepmother constantly threatens to get rid of if she disobeys. When Gisela sneaks off to the knights' tournament at Hagenheim, she catches the eye of Valten, and is invited to attend the ball during the festivities. There she is faced with a danger much worse than her stepmother's ire…one that threatens to destroy her life and hope of happiness—forever.

As I mentioned earlier, Melanie Dickerson is a master storyteller, who has the power to draw the reader in from page one and keep them mesmerized until the final climactic conclusion! Filled with an exciting storyline guaranteed to keep you flipping those pages well into the night, endearing main characters and some very nasty secondary ones, this novel is sure to bring out the "fairytale princess daydreams" in all of you ladies! As for you menfolk, there are plenty of tournaments, jousting, fighting, and "guy" stuff to keep you happy as well! An action-packed, beautifully written romance with a spiritual thread throughout, Melanie Dickerson has done it once again!!

    2. As a kid I used to pretend I was a superhero! Ha! I also dreamed of adventure, of being a missionary in a foreign country, or searching for hidden treasure. But as I got older, I also dreamed of ROMANCE! And I always loved the romantic fairy tales. The ones that weren't romantic, like Little Red Riding Hood? Not so much.

I think I was both a child - love to catch grasshoppers and have pinecone battles with others! Yes, they really hurt lol. The best position of course was high up in the pine tree. :) And then on the other hand, I loved daydreaming and fairytales!!

Definitely an intriguing review! I'd love to read this "once-upon-a-time" delight.

In answer to your question, I have always loved oral tradition, whether in the form of faerie tales, folktales, legends, personal stories, and myths, as well as good literature such as Tom and Huck's tales. Perhaps that's why I am a professional storyteller. ;-)

  26. For some reason I don't seem to fit either category well. I became a Dr. Doolittle fan when I started reading the books in second grade. I started reading the Little Women series and the Little House on the Prairie series. My mother and I did have tea parties and pretended that we were having tea with the Queen of England. She paid an outrageous price at that time to take me to the theater to see the documentary of Queen Elizabeth's Coronation. I guess I fall more on the princess side of the fence. 34. We were poor too Diana. Don't really remember having any books when I was young. Of course might just not having the memory. But our gifts were very sparse on Christmas, sometimes coming from other people. But had 7 older siblings and we were one big happy family, with lots to occupy our time, with loving parents and GOD in our home even before I was born. Sometimes now I think less would be better. I think it is appreciated more. I don't remember much about books until later. Was probably older than some when I loved and read Uncle Tom's Cabin, Huckleberry Finn, Nancy Drew books, etc. Most of my childhood movies was playing mother with my dolls, inside or outside. And, loved paperdolls cut out of Sears and Roebuck catalogues. Would play with them for hours. My brother next to me by 3 1/2 ye=rs. older was good to play with me . Even girl stuff. Even dresses up in mom's dresses and stuffed the top and played my neighbor. (Had a lot of fun telling about this when we were older.) But, sometimes he would be the preacher and we would sit in daddy's wagon and drive to church, then preach. Guess was part tomboy too for loved climbing in a large old tree at my gramma's home with this brother and stay there for hours. And, back when I was growing up kids played outside, so we got lots of excercise. I think much better for us than all of this tech stuff. I always loved my dolls up to dating time, when alone in my bedroom. Guess I always dreamed of being a mother and GOD granted that dream with 4 great kids. Now I have 19 great-grandchildren. Diana, hope you didn't make the mud pies in your mom's dress and shoes. LOL I married at one week after 16th birthday so didn't have wait long for my dream. 54. Ha ha, I always daydreamed of being a disguised princess, having fun with my prince fiance, who would naturally think I was ugly until I took off my disguise. ;-) Great review, Diana! gwen[dot]gage[at]gmail[dot]com

  56. I grew up running around outside with the dogs, but I would only want to watch movies or read about princesses in fairy tales. In every make-believe game I played with my friends, I would always be the damsel in distress who needed rescuing :) Thanks for the great review!

  60. I was (and still am!) one of those girls that wanted to be a princess with her prince but as more of a tomboy princess--one who loves wearing beautiful gowns but can hold her own among a group of men (definitely not a traditional Regency era princess). This book sounds very good--just the kind of book I love to read!

    1. A princess with brogans on her feet, hidden under that beautiful gown, eh, MALLORI? Nothing wrong with that! LOL

  61. Wow, This is the first I have seen of this book. I love the cover! And the story sounds wonderful! I have never been the princess type, none of my family ever was. We are more of the tomboy type. My four year old niece is spending the night with us, and she thinks she is a princess, but she's the tomboy type princess too! She's so adorable and we love her so much, but she is funny sometimes with her tomboy ways.
Would love to win this book!!
