Felicia Bowen Bridges

Felicia Bowen Bridges is a contributing author for God’s Provision in Tough Times and for Then Along Came an Angel, Messengers of Deliverance. Both are available on Amazon.com. You can also follow Felicia on her blog at Psalms204.blogspot.com.

Felicia, welcome to Overcoming With God.  We appreciate your willingness to share your testimony of overcoming with our readers.

Would you tell us about the most difficult thing in your life you have had to overcome, with God’s help? Although God’s Provision in Tough Times deals with God’s provision during a financial crisis, this was by no means the greatest challenge I’ve overcome thanks to my Savior. Prior to our season of financial loss, the Lord saw me and my husband through the loss of three unborn children. Compared to the devastation of losing a child, our season of unemployment following Randy’s call to ministry was a walk in the park. God had already taught us the most important lesson which is at the core of the story I shared in God’s Provision – that is, that having a relationship with God is enough for us to find joy in life, even when we have nothing else.

Disability friendliness: Is this latest release available in audio format or do you have any other works available on audio? Do your e-books have audio capability? Do you have any in large print?  God’s Provision in Tough Times is available for Kindle.

In this latest work, do you have any topics useful for bibliotherapy, or therapeutic influence through reading about a disorder or situation?
This book is the ideal gift of encouragement for someone experiencing unemployment or financial distress. The true stories included in God’s Provision in Tough Times present a variety of situations that have a single thread in common – God’s overarching love and sovereignty regardless of our circumstances. The authors do not share feel-good platitudes about the power of positive thinking – instead, they share with transparency their personal struggles and the encouragement that they received. These struggles haven’t necessarily ended; however, each one has experienced the victory of seeing God work in the midst of the struggle, regardless of the eventual outcome.

Thank you Felicia for agreeing to answer these questions.  Have a blessed day and keep on writing!!

  4. Thank you for sharing and being with us this week on OWG, FELICIA! It's wonderful meeting you and reading your testimony. I, too, lost three unborn babies and know the heartbreak associated with that. But I also know the faithfulness of God, who fifteen yrs later gave me a dream of my three children in Heaven. I awakened from the dream with my skin tingling, and knew that I had visited somewhere that was not of this world for sure! I woke hubby up and tearfully, but happily said, "We have 3 kids already in Heaven and two more to help get there." I had 2 children before the miscarriages occurred. I never have grieved again over that loss.

    1. Diana, Thank you so much for your message and sharing about the dream God gave you. One of the tools God used to help me overcome that season of grief was a book called "I'll Hold You in Heaven" by Jack Hayford. Even though I thought that my babies were in heaven, reading this book provided the biblical grounds for that assurance and meant so much to me. I have frequently shared copies of this book with friends who've been through the loss of a baby or young child. One of the greatest blessings came as God showed me that while I might not know for certain about my other children's salvation until I get there, I could be sure that these children would be in heaven.

  5. I understand a little. One day I went from having a good job to being disabled because of a medical error that causes serious health complications. Depending on God were sometimes the only way I could get through it. Thank you, Felicia, for sharing.

    2. Praying for you too BARBARA! God is the only constant in our lives and as you say, placing our dependence on God is the best way to get through things. God bless you.

    3. Thank you Barbara for your encouragement. It is especially difficult to deal with trials that are caused by someone else - such an extra challenge to forgive those responsible when we still deal with the pain. You will be in my prayers and I know that God will continue to carry you through. Blessings, Felicia

  6. We learned to depend on God in a new way this past year. With no job and an eviction notice, we found a temporary place to live, a part time job, and a church that cared for and prayed for us. The Lord then provided a new job which my hubby and I can boh work at. As well, a place to live is included! His provision is incredible, and we thank Him for it.

    1. Betti, Your story should have been in that book! Maybe if Cynthia and LaTan do another one you could contribute! That was SO cool when you were the winner for the Blog Hop for our serial story "A Vow Fulfilled" and all of us who contributed to the story wanted to bless you! So glad to see what God is doing in your life!

  8. Welcome to OWG FELICIA, it's so wonderful to have you on here and to have you share with everyone! This book would make such an excellent gift for someone who's having financial problems and feeling despondent... it is stories like these that can really uplift and encourage others in their faith.

I've shared before with others how when we went through unemployment and could barely afford to eat, God gave us the most incredible miracle! But then there was also this one time I was trying to work it all out myself and write a shopping list for the week with barely any funds, when I finally gave up. I shed a few tears and looked up and admitted to God I couldn't do it. He was able to step in then, and within the next 10 minutes, a $100 grocery store card was popped into our letter-box.

I couldn't agree more with what you said about having a relationship with God - there is nothing that is more important or more rewarding!! God bless!

    1. Noela, thank you so much for your encouragement. I agree - this book is the perfect gift for that friend you know is struggling. In fact, I've purchased several to keep in my car and to give out as God provides the opportunity. I know for Cynthia and La-Tan and all of the contributing authors, our greatest desire is to encourage those who are in the place we once were with the news that God is faithful. Blessings, Felicia

  9. Thank you for the great review !!! I really want to read this book !!!! Sometimes, going through such tough times, it's hard to know where to turn.. That was my issue ~ where to turn... we lost everything but the house, and so darn close to losing that when my husband lost his job and was out of work for such a long time. we sold everything that we could, we didn't have anything else to sell and I didn't want to lose the family home, such a sad time....then like a light went off, and I went back to basics, dropped to my knees and prayed for some guidance. Just the feeling of relief was more than I expected so quick, but I did feel like the load was off of my shoulders....and knowing he was on my side was what I needed. you know, if you Let go and Let God...well, that was my saving grace... it was still a struggle and today we still work hard to be okay, but every morning, I know I'm not alone.. thank you !!!!!! 2. Rosemary, Thank you for your comment. You'll especially relate to my story, I think, as it sounds like we've walked in the same shoes. God is so good. I will keep you in my prayers; we, too, continue to struggle and yet have peace in knowing, from experience, that God will see us through. Blessings, Felicia

  12. I have also experienced many of the things discussed above--losing 2 babies, losing employment for my husband etc. and God has always come through just when it was 'needed'. Maybe not when we thought it should be, but always in time! We serve an awesome God!
Now, my son is in one of those places--please keep him in your prayers--biggest need is a job, but also some emotional stuff going on as well. I think you already did the drawing for this one, but if not, please add me to the pile.
