Review by Noela Nancarrow of Tamera Alexander's "Rekindled"

Rekindled
Rekindled

Captivating!

This is a story that completely captivated me in every way – with my heart, mind and emotions! I have never felt so stirred the entire way through a book before. And then upon reading the last page, I literally sat there completely stunned at the way some books have the ability to so thoroughly engage you in their story!

Larson Jennings having fallen in love with the beautiful Kathryn, marries her and brings her from a more privileged lifestyle to his ranch and modest homestead in Colorado. The couple loves each other deeply but Larson is besieged with feelings of inadequacy in providing for his wife as he strives to make his struggling ranch successful. He also has difficulties with completely trusting his wife, having been raised by his mother in a brothel. Kathryn feels unfulfilled and yearns for more, especially from her emotionally scarred husband. These heartbreaking issues affected their relationship and created considerable unhappiness.

This story takes you on each of their personal journeys towards the self-discovery of a new awareness of themselves and each other. This process begins while Larson is on his way to Denver and suffers a terrible tragedy where he very nearly loses his life. Some months later he returns unrecognizable and faces a testing of his newly strengthened faith as he sees his wife pregnant and assumes that she has moved on from him after only five months. Meanwhile Kathryn faces the apparent loss of her beloved husband and battles with keeping their land, their dream, and Larson’s legacy… alive, while frequently facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles and set-backs. New scars are formed over old scars, yet with the new injuries and fresh pain, a renewed faith, trust, and love emerges.

Keep your tissues handy while sharing in this often heartbreaking, but ultimately heart-warming, story. A story so compelling, it will be almost impossible to put down. Share in Larson and Kathryn’s hope, love, and faith REKINDLED and restored from a fragile and fractured foundation.  A truly memorable story!

  5. Loved your review, NOELA. I have been reading Tamera's books since she first started writing -- love them. However, I read this one so long ago, I have no clue what my favorite scene was. I can't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning! But I do remember I loved it!

  6. Oh sounds like your a veteran then DIANA! I have an older one and To Whisper Her Name to go and I'll be up to date. Always good to know there's great books waiting! Lol, guess it doesn't matter what you had for breakky, as long as you remembered you enjoyed it! :)
My favourite scene would probably have to be when they were re-united!

  7. WOW!! NOELA what a great review. I haven't read this one...YET!! :) Hopefully I'll remedy that in the near future. One more to add to my overflowing TBR stack.

  8. This sounds good, but I am not one who loves a tear jerker story normally. I don't want to cry and cry, lol! I get puffy eyes and I get bummed out by books that do that. So how much crying is there? This is available on audible.com so I likely WILL order it. I have loved all of them so far.

  9. Ohh so glad you enjoyed the review TERESA!! :) Like I said to JESS up above, this one is worthy to be pushed up far as it can go lol!

  10. CARRIE, rest easy lol, while there will probably be some tears it's not all that bad! I read a book once, without saying any names lol, that made me cry straight for 3 chapters!! :)

I read this book when it first came out after waiting for my library hold to come up. I worked at a middle school and rode the city bus after years of commuting around the "beltline" of the city. Took longer than driving and I had to leave a lot earlier, but rewards! Got may hours of reading done and there were times when some boys behind me would say, "Miss, isn't this your stop?" when I was on the way home! I would like to reread Rekindled. Kathleen

  46. Like Tamera Alexander's Author Page on FB. TL. I have not read Rekindled yet. I read "Revealed" (Book 2 of the Fountain Creek Chronicles) first and loved it! It might sound strange but I felt like I would almost be betraying Matthew Taylor (the man who worked at Katherine and Larson's ranch)! I agree with the recommendation on Tamera's website that if one plans to read all of the books in a series, it's a good idea to read them in order. :) After reading your review I want to go back and read Rekindled. Thanks for sharing it!
