Prepare To Be Changed!
In this delightful study of the book of Ruth, Liz Curtis Higgs sweeps us away on a fascinating journey back in time as the reader gets to know Ruth and Naomi in a whole new light. We will have an opportunity to walk with Ruth, experience her feelings, uncertainties, and acts of faith, and learn to apply them to our lives today.
As we take an intimate peek into the faith of Ruth and her Boaz, we will see and experience in a way as never before how God's plan unfolds in her life. He walks with her and listens to her very thoughts just as He does yours and you have "value, integrity, vibrancy, and worth" (thanks, Liz!). In spite of your past, God loves you fully and completely and has a wonderful plan for your life, just as He had for Ruth.
Read this gem of a book that is interlaced with Liz's delightful sense of humor and find out how God still wants to forgive your past, handle your present, and provide for your future. Girl, you still got it!
This book and other awesome books by Liz Curtis Higgs may be purchased through CBD, Amazon, Lifeway, and your local bookstores.
Question: Have you read any of Liz's other nonfiction books? If so, which one(s)?
Giveaway: We will be giving away two Liz Curtis Higgs' books this week. Leave a comment for a chance to win.

ReplyDeleteANGELA! You are in for a real treat then! Hoping you will get an opportunity ASAP to read one -- be it fiction or nonfiction.
DeleteEnjoyed the review DIANA! I love the story of Ruth and Boaz, there is so much truth and wisdom that can be gleaned from these stories and events that happened in Bible times. Sounds like a really good read... and no I haven't had the pleasure of reading anything by Liz Curtis Higgs... yet!
ReplyDeleteHer books are remarkable, NOELA! This is the first nonfiction novel of hers that I have read, but the fiction ones were total page turners. I hope you will get a chance to read one of her series soon! Thanks, gf!
DeleteThank you for this great review. I haven't had the opportunity to read any of Liz Curtis Higgs books yet. Our daughter told us her Sunday School class is using one of her books for their class and how much she enjoys it. Need to borrow some from the library. ReplyDeletegriperang at embarqmail dot com
ANGELA, welcome to OWG! Her fiction as well as her nonfiction are wonderful! Give her a try! Thanks by coming by!
DeleteThanks for this review, Diana! I became aware of Liz's nonfiction books when I was working as a psychologist--she had many that looked very good to use esp. with my older teen girl clients to use as a study. Some of the other therapists in the office had them, too. At that time I did not realize she was also a novelist.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool, CARRIE! I was the opposite -- read her fiction books not knowing she was a such a wonderful Bible teacher and that she wrote nonfiction. I'm sure many teen girls and others have benefited from them. :)
DeleteDIANA, isn't this nice having the reply function? So much easier to reply to people!
DeleteLove the reply thingy, CARRIE! And it's so much easier for peeps to SEE your reply back to them, It's great!
DeleteI have not yet read any of Liz's books but I would sure like to. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteBonnie (taskczar@thebelgiumco.com)
Hi, BONNIE! Welcome to Overcoming with God! I'm surprised to find that several on here have never read any of Liz's books. She is one of the "best of the best" so be sure to put her on your To Be Read list for 2013! Good luck!
DeleteI've never read one of Liz's NF books but I've had this one on my wish list. Please add me, thanks!
ReplyDeleteworthy2bpraised at gmail dot com
MERRY, it's always such a pleasure to see you here! Gotcha entered, gf!

ReplyDeletelikesmusic2@consolidated.net
We will have some reviews on that one beginning tomorrow, DEBBIE! Hope you enjoy it!

ReplyDeletePatty
pattymh2000(at)yahoo(dot)com
Good morning, PATTY! We will be sharing our thoughts on Liz's new book, A Wreath of Snow, the rest of the week so be sure and come back! Her fiction books are great, aren't they?
DeleteOkay, DIANA, you hooked me on this one and I will be the FIRST to admit that I almost have to be literally dragged by a ten-mule pack to even OPEN the pages of a nonfiction book, so no, I have not read any of Liz's nonfiction, much to my shame!! But your review (and the fact that it IS Liz Curtis Higgs, one of my ALL-TIME FAVES in fiction) compels me to do so, so sign me up!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway and GREAT review!!
Hugs,
Julie
JULIE, I'm hanging my head in shame here, too, b/c this is my first nonfiction by Liz. Nonfiction books have always been tough for me, b/c one has to take the time out and be able to concentrate, which isn't always easy to do around my house. But this one is written so delightfully, it will be hard to put down and it's easy to comprehend. Loved it! Gotcha signed up, gf! Thanks so much, JULIE!
DeleteWe have all of Liz's books in the Church Library. The non-fiction book of hers that I have read is "Rise and Shine". It is a devotional book with short stories we can all relate too. I would love to win a copy of "The Girl's Still Got It" to have for my very own.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

What a great library you all must have, JANET! Thank you for sharing about "Rise and Shine" with us! I had not heard of that one. Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteLIZ is an awesome communicator and storyteller! I've read Whence Came a Prince, and my daughter's read Here Burns My Candle and Mine Is the Night. We both love Liz's writing style and would thoroughly enjoy sharing this book about Ruth & Boaz.
ReplyDeleteYour review is fantastic, DIANA! I've not been on the internet too much. Coming down with the flu or something but I just had to pop in here and get my name in the hat :) Y'all have a great day...
ANNE, we will be praying for you over here. I'm so sorry you're sick. :( Thank you for taking the time to "pop in here" and see us! Liz IS an awesome author...you need to read that whole series in which Whence Came A Prince is just a part of. Oh, can't think of the series name, but it is fabulous!! Feel better, honey!
DeleteI have read almost all of her fiction books but I have never had the chance to read one of her non-fiction books. Ms. Liz is definitely one of top 5 favorite authors!!
ReplyDeletesamanthaakuiper(at)gmail(dot)com
The lady sure can write!!! I agree, SAMANTHA! Maybe you will have an opportunity to read this one soon! God bless~
DeleteYes Please!!! I would LOVE to win this or anything from Liz. I've always loved Ruth and her story. It is probably one of my favorite books from God's word. I usually don't branch out from Fiction, but "The Girl's Still got it" has made me want to! Thank you for this opportunity!

Pretty sure Liz is on a book tour over there for her novel!!! Isn't that cool? I knew this was going to be a tricky week for her but she was in NY at a conf last week and just as busy.
