Seaside Suspense!!
In Tidewater Inn, Colleen Coble has woven a captivating, suspense filled novel that takes place in the Outer Banks on Hope Beach---an island replete with fishing boats, charming houses, salty sea air, and the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore. Libby and her partner, Nicole, restore historical buildings in Virginia Beach, and Nicole finds herself on Hope Beach investigating the idea of restoring the downtown area. When she becomes a victim of a kidnapping, Libby races to the island to search for her friend, enlisting the aid of Alec Bourne, handsome captain of the Coast Guard.
Once there, Libby finds out not only that her deceased father has left her Tidewater Inn, but that she has half-siblings there as well...who are incensed that Libby (whom they previously didn't know even existed), is to inherit the inn. Danger and distrust lurk in every nook and cranny of the island as Libby becomes a prime suspect of Nicole's kidnapping, and someone seeks to drown her in the vast ocean waters.
Is Nicole still alive, and is someone trying to get rid of Libby to obtain Tidewater Inn? Is there any hope of Libby and her siblings ever reconciling?...and does Alec believe Libby had nothing to do with her friend's disappearance. Will Libby decide to sell Tidewater Inn since it would be too expensive to renovate?...and what of her growing feelings for Alec should she decide to do so?
Colleen Coble is simply a master storyteller. Her use of imagery in the seaside setting in this novel immediately drew me in; her storyline kept me there! Full of suspense, romance, compelling and lovable characters, and a spiritual thread throughout---this one will keep you flipping those pages 'til the climactic conclusion! Thank you for the exciting beach vacation I've needed for so long, Colleen Coble! :)

Diana, what a great review!! If I was a writer I would want someone to write this paragraph about me:

MARIAN, thank you, and Colleen does do a fantastic job of making one feel as though they are right there! I felt like I had gone on a suspense filled vacay!
ReplyDeleteDARLENE, this historical fiction lover was mesmerized by the historical feel of this novel, the old inn, the quaint town, etc. I don't even think she could get cell phone reception on the island, which is kinda cool. lol

This would have been a great book to read on your trip, JEN! Hoping for a win for you!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Colleen Coble, both as an author and as a person -- top drawer all the way!!! And I totally agree, Diana, that Colleen is a "master storyteller." Great review, my friend -- would LOVE to win a Colleen book!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
Another great review, Diana, of what sounds like an intriguing book. I love the setting, not far from me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJULIE, what a pleasure to see you! If you win, how do you pick just one? She has written so many! My favorites are this one of course, Anethema was my all time favorite Colleen book, and I loved Cry in the Night! The beautiful snow setting in Michigan was awesomely described all throughout Cry in the Night. Thank you, JULIE!
ReplyDeleteThank you, JANET! Colleen is a master of imagery and I could "see" that beautiful setting in the Outer Banks on Hope Beach perfectly!
ReplyDeleteDIANA, it is funny but because of being a member of ACFW for almost six years, and now the MidAtlantic Zone director, I immediately think of COLLEEN as our CEO and such a capable and kind person. A business woman. So that has always been my immediate reaction when I hear her name. So glad to find her books on audio!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review and a chance to win. Love the book cover!
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though she is so good at everything she does, CARRIE, and such a warm person. I have been reading her books for years and although everyone knows I'm a historical fiction fan, with Colleen's books it never has mattered to me whether they were historical or contemporary. And coming from this history lover that is saying a mouthful! Although.I.am.always.saying.a.mouthful. come to think of it. :)
ReplyDeleteKATHY, consider yourself entered in the giveaway! That is a great cover, I agree!
ReplyDeleteHello everyone! thanks for checking in here. it's been a crazy ten days or so and I'm so glad to be home. I had 11 radio interviews this morning but I'm catching my breath now. :)
ReplyDeleteCOLLEEN, have your ears been burning? We have been talking about you over here all week, but it's all good! 11 radio interviews? How does anyone do that? There's no place like home, and we are glad you are back and had a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteGOOD HEAVENS!!! If you or I did 11 interviews we'd be keeled over, right Diana?
ReplyDeleteSo glad COLLEEN is back safely and she made it through her interviews!
CARRIE, you are so right. I can't even imagine...I believe three would do me in! Maybe one! lol! But 11?? I need to get off wheat and gluten if it would give me COLLEEN'S energy!
ReplyDeleteit was a challenging morning, back to back interviews. :) But I like them. So I was fine with it!
ReplyDeleteNice review. Would like to try and win this book. I have read her Lightkeeper books and would love to read Tidewater Inn.
ReplyDeletemsbookwormlady@aol.com
Thank you, KAY! I am hoping that you will get the chance to read this one! Very different from her Lightkeeper books, but she is such a versatile author, she can write about anything anywhere!
