Riveting Regency Romance!
In this endearing sequel, The House In Grosvenor Square, Linore R. Burkard reintroduces all the delightful characters we so fell in love with in Before the Season Ends! Set in Regency London, it is a time of coming out balls, lords and ladies, magnificent gowns, beautifully architectured mansions with finely manicured grounds, and of course...romance in the air!
*Spoiler alert if one hasn't read Before the Season Ends* Our heroine, the lovely and compassionate, Miss Ariana Forsythe, has captured the heart of Mr. Phillip Mornay, the wealthiest and most sought after bachelor in town. In Ariana, Phillip finds an unpretentious young lady, as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out, and has fallen in love with her AND her God, quite in spite of himself.
In the two weeks before they are to be joined in holy matrimony, dastardly happenings begin to occur, putting a blight on the couple's newfound happiness. Expensive objects begin to disappear from Mr. Mornay's house, Grosvenor Square, and someone tries to abduct Ariana on her way home one evening. What insidious, sinister force has reared its ugly head against Ariana and her betrothed?...and why? Will they finally make it to the altar or will darkness prevail against them?
I was blessed to be able to read these two books back to back, and what a wonderful journey it was! Ms. Burkard's extensive knowledge of the regency era; the customs, architectural designs, the aristocrat's "lingo", clothing designs, etc., is astounding! With an exciting storyline full of twists and turns, and a beautiful, spiritual thread throughout, this novel is a must read! Very impressive, Linore Burkard!

Thank you, Carrie, for pic, and to Linore for writing such great books for us all to delight in!
ReplyDeletePick me! Pick me! I absolutely went crazy when I read Linore's first book, Before the Season Ends, because I am a die-hard Regency lover!!! Finally, there was a new author on the scene writing what I was passionate about reading :) I ate her books up like candy but I don't own any of my own copies. Oh, wonderful review Diana! Didn't mean to leave that out. I just got so excited ;)
ReplyDeleteGREAT REVIEW DIANA! Anne you poor baby I so wish you really liked Linore's books! ~joking~ LOL! That comment was so cute~ :)
ReplyDeleteAnne, You HAVE to read this one! It picks right up where Before the Season Ends leaves off!

ReplyDeleteTeresa, isn't ANNE a cutie? Just wish she would show a little more excitement and enthusiasm!
ReplyDelete~LOL~
LOL! I got a kick out of her "sweet" (yes pun intended) comment about eating Linore's book up like candy! :)
ReplyDeleteDiana, I have read them ALL!!! Checked them out from the library :) I can't possibly spend the money on all the books I would like to have. That's why I was ecstatic when I discovered TBCN last year and then contests to win books!!! Of course, that has led to meeting some very sweet people and that's almost as good as having a book :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, ANNE, wonderful people and books, what more could one ask for?
ReplyDeleteANNE should be THRILLEd that Regency has now caught on and they are coming out with lots more. My CPer Sarah E. Ladd got a contract with Thomas Nelson to write three Regencies and the first one is great!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read it, CARRIE! Not everyone can write regency, and keep it interesting. Linore does just a great job at it!
ReplyDeleteGreat review Diana! Are you going to read book 3 too?
ReplyDeleteSounds like another great read! I guess if I won I would have to pick the first in the series and then keep an eye out for this one.
ReplyDeletePatty
MARIAN, you guys are such blessings! Diana is an awesome reviewer and she really makes you want to read the books!
ReplyDeletePATTY - Diana knows how to pick them, too!!!
Thank you, Marian! I'd like to, but have several that I need to get done for reviews. You know how that goes...so many good books, so little time. sigh...
ReplyDeletePatty, good luck in the giveaway! If you pick the first one you may be able to get the second one on sale if you have a Kindle!
ReplyDeletePlease sign me up. If I win I will have to get the first one though because I don't have it yet. :)

SALENA, I threw your name in the hat! This can be read as a stand alone, but it does continue where the first one left off, and you would miss out on alot of good stuff. The second one will probably be on sale on Kindle if you keep your eyes peeled. It has been b4. Thanks for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I am SO glad to hear that most wonderful news about more Regency's coming out! I try and read any I can get my hands on :) Thanks for the head's up. I know you'll be giving a shout out later on so I'll keep my eyes and ears open!
ReplyDeleteSalena, You definitely need to read the first one, Before the Season Ends! It really does set the stage for other two :)
ReplyDeleteANNE, thank you for sharing that info with Salena! Also there is a third book to this series, which is the newest release. Do you have that one yet, ANNE? I forget the name, but I think Carrie is going to share her review on it later!
ReplyDeleteIt's called The Country House Courtship, and it's Book Three in this series. I haven't had the pleasure of reading it yet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't started the first book just yet so I had to skip the middle part of the review but from what I read it sounds like this book is as good as the first. I'm so glad I've got the first two books already so I can read them back to back!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless

Wonderful, LIZ! Maybe you will win the third one in the series as well, and can read all 3 back to back!
ReplyDeleteI loved "Before the Season Ends" and would enjoy reading the sequel. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy!

BRANDI, it's so nice to see you here on OTT! Good luck in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLINORE, thank you so much for being with us this week and for being such a gracious and lovely guest. And keep writing such wonderful books that take us away from it all!
ReplyDelete~Blessings~
Just had to come by to say I LOVE Linore's books AND Linore the person!! I think the thing that shocked me more than anything was meeting Linore at ACFW and realizing how shy she is. She seems so confident and bold in her online interviews, that I was stunned to see this quieter, gentler side of her in person and just wanted to flat-out hug her, which I think I did, the poor thing!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for highlighting this wonderful author, Diana and Carrie!
Hugs,
Julie
JULIE, for some people it's so much easier to talk online than it is in person! My neighbor is so shy when he sees me outside, but he will get on Fb and talk a blue-streak with me. I find it so amusing! I hope we get a chance to meet someday...I will gladly take one of those hugs, JULIE!
ReplyDeleteLinore is such a great talent, and a real sweet lady. Thanks for stopping by, Julie; always a joyous pleasure when you do!
lovely ~
