Tribute to Mama by Teresa S. Mathews

Mama for all the things you did for me when I was just a child;
I’d really like to tell you thanks and to see your pretty smile.

I would love to show you a million ways just how much I care,
one more hug, one more kiss and or just some time to share.

Mama, if only I could see your face, my joy would be complete,
or hear you call my name in prayer, that, would be so sweet.

How did the years go by so fast, how did they slip away?
How did we not have forever, our goodbyes to say?

Now you’re up in Heaven living without a care;
seeing all your loved ones and talking to Jesus there.

Thank you, Mama for telling me about God’s salvation plan,
so when it comes my time to go I’ll meet you in that land.

Mama I sure do love you and I just wanted you to know,
I will carry you in my heart, no matter where I go.

I lost my sweet mom in October 27, 2016, it was right at the time I had found out I had breast cancer. I am so grateful for the fact that mom and dad had taught me about Jesus so I knew I had a refuge to run to when it felt as though my life was falling apart. It had only been a little over 15 months since I lost the love of my life, (Carlton) to cancer.

With my faith in God I was able to come out on the other side, then November 4, 2017 my precious mother-in-law was called home suddenly. That was another blow, since she had always been my other mom. I felt as though she was the only other person that knew the depth of grieve I felt when Carlton passed.

Today I am feeling the loss of two great women of God, who truly lived the Proverbs 31 life, Flossie Sharpe and Shelby Mathews.

Proverbs 31:10-31

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Mother's Day 2017 Haiku by Clark J. Pagels

My son, Clark J. Pagels, 15, wrote me this haiku for Mother's Day. Of course, I love it! I'm sharing it as Clark's guest post for today! Isn't this the sweetest thing ever?

Wishing you all a fantastic Mother's Day! Wishing peace for those who are suffering, like my older sister, who have lost children and may happy memories comfort all of you!

Yesterday, God gave me a very nice Mother's Day gift -- I am a finalist in the prestigious Holt Medallion Awards for my Romance Novella, "The Steeplechase," which is set here where we live!

God bless our readers and God bring healing to our current bloggers, Teresa Mathews and Bonnie Roof, and to our former bloggers Diana Flowers, Noela Nancarrow, and Marian Baay!

Happy Mother's Day

Mom's Love Letter

Finding out I was going to have you filled my heart with joy,
At that moment I didn't care if you were a girl or a boy.

I just knew that you were a precious gift from God above,
and that you were someone with whom I had fallen in love.

My love for you began to grow at that very moment in time,
From then on you were the thoughts that filled my mind.

Thoughts of how glad I would be to hold you in my arms;
To see your beautiful face and be awestruck by your charms.

Thoughts of the wonderful things you would say and do.
From that day on all my thoughts revolved around you.

It's been many years now since that wonderful day;
The day that you were born and you stole my heart away.

I have cherished every moment I have watched you grow
Every year I've loved you more than you will ever know.

You've always been the love of my life and the apple of my eye
and my heart will always follow after you until the day I die.

        Love, Mom

For our sweet viewers that no longer have their moms with them I want to share another poem that I wrote for Carrie and Diana last year.

A Message from Mom

My sweet child I wanted you to know
even though I'm not with you anymore I still love you so.

I know that you miss me and would love to have me near,
but Heaven is such a beautiful place and I just love it here.

I have forgotten all my worries, and I don't have a care.
Everything has been joyful and I haven't shed a tear.

Honey I must tell you I'm now feeling right as rain,
there's no more sickness here and no more pain.

Since I got here I have seen so many wonderful, marvelous things,
I've seen beautiful flowers bloom and heard the heavenly choir sing.

I've worshiped at the throne of the Almighty and seen Jesus too;
I've walked the golden streets and had angels in view.

I've rested by the river of life, and chatted with old friends,
I've even been at the gate to welcome new ones in.

My sweet daughter I love you and I'm waiting for the day,
when you will be up here with me forever to stay.

Until that time comes please keep holding on to Jesus' hand,
and He will see you safely through and bring you to this glorious land.

Hugs and Kisses,
Mom

Mothers Overcoming with God's Help by Carrie Fancett Pagels

My Mother's Day Roses!

Carla Stewart shared in her interview the many difficulties she has faced within her family. As mothers, we always want the best for our children, just as God wants the best for us. But we have free will. So it doesn't always work out that way. We make bad choices. Our kids make lousy choices sometimes. And we grieve the one who created us to begin with.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, 2012, may all the mothers who read this be blessed and may God help each and every one to overcome the obstacles to mothering that have been put in her way!

HERE is a gift from Teresa Mathews for your Mother's Day:

A Mother’s Prayer

Dear Lord help me to be
a Mother that is led by Thee.

One that never has a care
Even when I could, pull out my hair

One that loves my kids, never ending
Even when for lego’s it seems I’m always spending

Picking up toys, washing all the clothes
Help me Lord before my mind goes.

Cooking food and mopping the floor
Here I go again to the store.

Mom! Mom! I need new clothes
Oh well that’s the way the money goes!

Lord if only I could have a minute alone
I promise I would not talk on the phone.

Mom! Mom! He hit me on the head!
Help me Lord why couldn’t I have stayed in bed????

Children screaming at each other
What was the reason I wanted to be a Mother?

Mommy I love you, Can I have a kiss?
These are the times I’m going to miss.

My little boys are growing up way too fast,
Lord help me to show them the right path.

Listening to your voice telling them the way
Lord help my boys to follow you everyday.

Let them give you all of their heart
And from your way let them never part.

Thank you Lord for allowing me to be
A mother that is led by Thee.
