Prayer Warriors Matter -- Ann Lacy Ellison

Ann Lacy Ellison
I love Prayer Warriors. They're the people you can count on to intervene for you when things get tough.  You feel better simply knowing they are there. You know that even if they are the only person who knows about your situation and is praying, that they are intent upon lifting you and your concerns up to the Lord.
Ann Lacy Ellison had long been one of my readers and was a member of my Pagels Pals reader group. But Ann was best known to me as a true Prayer Warrior. When I was at Community Group, before I'd learned she had quickly gone into Hospice care, we were asked who we thought of when we considered people of prayer. And Ann was the first person I thought of. Soon after, I learned she was in end stages of cancer.

You can read Ann's obituary here. I'm glad the family included that Ann was an active supporter of authors. I can tell you that her Prayer Warrior ministry to writers will be sorely missed. Already is. But we'll get to see her in heaven one day. Ann was a sweetheart and a blessing to so many.

Question: Do you have a prayer ministry yourself? I'm giving away a box of books this week to one of my readers who loves to pray for authors and who loves to read. Leave a comment before to enter.

  1. May God bless and comfort her family.
We should all have some sort of prayer ministry. Whether we pray on the spot for others or keep a journal of prayer requests to continually go back to, we should all be prayer warriors. What is my prayer ministry? I always pray on the spot for requests. I am a volunteer for the Guideposts Prayer Team.....on the spot and written prayers online. Most importantly, I keep in constant communication with God....He will open my eyes to the prayer needs of those around me, ie.. someone I see as I am driving down the street, someone I see in a store, etc. Every child of God should have some sort of prayer ministry. Hugs and God bless.

God bless and may the family find comfort in the loss of a loved family member.

I have a strong faith and believe in the power of prayer. I started a bible study and prayer group with a few ladies ten years ago. We have always held all in need of prayer in our hearts.

    God Bless!

  4. I definitely believe in the biblical admonition to pray without ceasing. I have specific prayer time but I like to pray in response to everyday thoughts and activities. I pray for several dear authors that I've read, whom I've met, that I keep in touch with via email or other social media. If I hear or see an ambulance I pause and pray for the injured and the doctors and other personnel who are caring for them. I feel totally dependent on prayer throughout my days. God is so good! I praise Him for so many "God blessings" each day!
I pray peace and comfort for Ann's family and friends.
    Blessings

  5. My hubby teases me that my friends only call when they need prayer. Without it we are powerless. I’m sorry for the loss of your dear prayer warrior friend. Love and hugs 🤗

  6. I’m so sorry for your loss Carrie. My deepest sympathies to Ann’s family. I pray they find peace and comfort.

I’m a pray on the spot type of person. Because if I took the time to grab my journal and write the request down I’d never get anything done. As I scroll through FB each day I see many of my friends asking for prayers. Plus there’s my church friends who ask for prayers. So I just pray as the request comes to me. Also another reason I pray on the spot instead of writing it down to pray for later is that by then the issue may have been solved.

Have a blessed week Carrie and know that I pray for you and think about you often. You are a blessing to me.

  9. May Ann’s family and friends know the comfort of the Father during this sad time and may they recognize the hope we have of once again being reunited with our loved ones.
I don’t have a specific prayer ministry. I am an on the spot kind of pray-er. When I hear about something to pray for I pray then and sometimes write a reminder to myself to continue in prayer about the matter. And I definitely LOVE to read!

  10. May Ann’s family know the peace and comfort of knowing that as a believer she is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. I did not have the privilege to know her either virtually (online) or in person, but I certainly wish that I had. True Prayer Warriors are a great comfort to all of us. I think I have at least one in my life. And I do love to read!

  11. Prayer ministry is a vital part of sharing God's love to others. Whether we pray in private or in a group, God hears our prayers. I never met Ann in person but enjoyed chatting with her via Facebook. She will be missed.

  12. Prayers for comfort and peace to her family. I know she will be missed by many people.
I do believe in the power of prayer and have seen miracles happen because of prayer. I have several people that are prayer warriors. I can count on them to stop everything and pray. I also pray as much as I can. It's an important part of my life.

  13. Ann is already greatly missed even by other reviewers/readers like myself. I never met her personally, but was in several FB groups with her and her faith was very evident. I have no doubt that she prayed for every prayer request mentioned. Sometimes you don't know how even a comment you make on FB can be an encouragement to someone, but thise comments can have a big impact. Ann was an encouragement and blessing to many.
I wish I could be a strong prayer warrior like she was.

  14. I don't consider myself in a prayer ministry or even a prayer warrior, but it is the one thing I can do no matter how small an insignificant it sometimes feels. As a person who has been on many street teams and book launch teams over the last few years I do pray for the authors I support. I also pray for authors, and others, when I see their requests go by on my Facebook wall. I know I don't pray as much as I should, I don't think anyone really does, but it is always the first place I turn.

I was so sorry to hear of Ann's passing, especially after I heard of how much a prayer warrior she was. A blessing, I'm sure, to the many people who knew and loved her. I just hope that some day I may be as much of a blessing to someone as she was to so many....

    Blessings!

  15. Prayer is so important to our relationship with the Lord and bringing requests on behalf of others. I’m very sad to hear of Ann’s passing, but she has left a legacy of love, joy and friendship with so many. Praying for comfort and peace her family during this time. Thankful for her heart and her love to all readers who she called as friends. We are all blessed because of her!!

  16. Prayers for comfort and peace for Ann's family. I never met Ann in person but we were friends on facebook...we were in many groups together and chatted often there. She will be greatly missed...already is.

I pray "on the spot" whenever I see a prayer request and I have a prayer jar I keep prayers in. I pray for the authors whose books I read/review, whether for a specific request or as the Lord brings them to mind and in between. Prayer ministry is an important aspect of sharing the love God has for each of us and He answers every prayer...maybe not in the way we may expect but He answers them all. I have 6 dear sisters-in-Christ that are wonderful prayer warriors. We call ourselves The Band of Sisters and pray for each other, our needs/requests and anything or anyone that is brought to our attention.

    Blessings, Tina

  17. Prayer is a great part of my life. I also love to read. I have gotten to know many authors, mostly through Facebook, and do pray often for them. I also like to write to them when their books have influenced me. Blessings and prayers.

  18. Prayer is so important, like a phone call to God, who will always lend an ear and know exactly what your thoughts are before you even express them. All the best wishes for Ann and her family. I pray that the Lord will comfort them and give them peace.

  19. I am a Huge believer in prayer. I pray for those I know and for those I don't know. I pray prayers of thanksgiving for the beauty that surrounds me. I even pray for being able to see in color as everything could have been in black and white. I talk to God often and I am so thankful that every step I take in this life, he is by my side.

  20. I know you'll miss Ann's presence in your life, Carrie. I've heard you speak of her often. I know a few prayer warriors like Ann was and yes, they are blessings! I have certain folks (some authors included) that I pray for regularly and I also belong to a prayer group at church that prays for each family (by name) in our congregation on a regular basis. Prayer is one of the most important ministries in the body of the Church.

  21. I'm so sorry for all of you ladies's loss. I know many who knew her and loved her. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I am not part of a prayer ministry but do try to keep authors and so many others in our family prayers. We teach our kids to think of others that way and prayer does matter.

    1. Sounds like a prayer ministry to me, Susan. If you're earnestly praying for others and teach your kids to do the same, that's a prayer ministry. God bless you.

  22. I never met Ann Lacy Ellison except through FB and authors' street teams. She was a great supporter of Christian Fiction and prayer warrior. I have a list of authors and others I pray for. When pray is requested on FB or other means, I send a prayer up at that time. So thankful we can breathe a prayer any time and God hears us. Thank you for this lovely post, Carrie. You are included in my prayers. God bless.
