BIRTHDAY CARRIE

Today our beautiful Carrie is another year older. I know that is super hard to believe, because she always looks so beautiful and ageless with her perfect porcelain skin.
My life has been enriched beyond words since meeting Carrie and joining OWG as a contributor. Carrie has been my rock through the most difficult times of my life these past four years. It always seemed on the worse days, I would answer my phone and hear “Hi Teresa, it’s Carrie, can you talk?” What a joy, what a blessing, what a ray of sunshine! It always makes me smile to hear her voice and to know she thought of me and took the time out of her very busy schedule to call and check on me.
Now a confession; when I was first asked to join OWG, I was a little timid about the whole writing thing. English was not my favorite subject, oh, I loved the literature part but the whole sentence structure and diagrams were like reading a foreign language! (lol) I just knew that Carrie was taking a HUGE risk letting me join her amazing blog, funny, how things like that work themselves out. When GOD is leading you in a new direction it’s always best to listen and leave the problem solving to Him.
Carrie, thank you so much for listening to the Lord when He spoke to you about this crazy Southern girl. You have been and will continue to forever be my dear, sweet, amazing friend! Words cannot begin to express how much you mean to me and my sons, Daniel and Joshua and it’s not because of those decadent chocolate covered raisins you always send as a precious reminder of my beloved husband and their dad, Carlton. (lol)
Now that I have shared my feelings about our Angel Birthday Girl I would love for each and everyone of you to please share your most favorite “Carrie” story. Let’s make this birthday one for the record books!
Don’t be upset if our Birthday Girl isn’t up to responding to all your posts, most of you know she is going through a rough time with her broken ankle and taking care of her family. I ask that you please add her and her family to your daily prayers!

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Carrie. I have two stories about moments when your influence made an incalculable impact. The first was right after my mother passed away and my son was in the hospital. You gave me such peace and focus. You really truly are an angel. The next story happened this year when you gave me “the call” And informed me that I had my first traditional publishing contract!

ReplyDeleteTeresa asked for us to share a favorite "Carrie" story. I have many. The first time I "met" Carrie was at a Facebook party where I won one of her books! I was blessed to become a PAL. She further blessed me by asking if I would be interested in doing a guest review here on OWG. I've loved reading and reviewing the My Heart Belongs series. But the thing that stands out most is how she has been there for me. I had some very stressful events in 2017. I messaged Carrie, and she was there for me. I cannot express how much her comforting presence meant to me. Carrie has blessed me with some great surprises too. She is a special person.

I couldn't have said it any better myself as Carrie also took a chance with this greenhorn and gave her the opportunity of a lifetime to be on this fabulous blog! What a rich experience. I think my favorite Carrie story is when she came to visit us in SC and we (Carrie, Teresa, Susan Craft, and myself) were so loud and giggly the restaurant employees were wanting to kick us out! LOL! Ok, maybe we weren't THAT loud, but we sure had fun! Eating her 24? layer b-day cake at Fatz (that Teresa made) was a delicious memory, too! Hope to make many more memories in the future. ReplyDeleteI have so many wonderful memories of Carrie. I will share two: The first story goes back a ways when she got me started with beta reading. Carrie lit a flame inside me that burns brighter to this day. Because of Carrie, I love helping authors improve on their books. Now I'm Carrie's 'virtual assistant'.
My second memory is when we moved here to Virginia the end of April, Carrie and her hubby Jeff made us feel so welcome. I was nervous and excited! And as sue tells everyone, I'm not longer 'virtual' anymore! :)

Carrie, you are a delight to know and a very special lady. I am blessed to know you! You have blessed me in so many ways over the years and have encouraged me in my writing reviews for such gifted authors such as yourself. I would have never thought of being a Beta Reader, but you knew and had confidence in me and I have done several since then. You also believed in me in being one of the contributors as a Reader Reviewer on OWG’s sister blog, CQ. I have enjoyed that more than I can say. You not only encourage me but many others in their writing, whether it is in writing reviews or books. I so enjoyed having lunch with you at your most favorite restaurant, Bob Evans and think of you every time I pass it. Please be careful with that foot and don’t try to walk on it before you should and have a setback (hmm, the nurse in me coming out and a caring friend). Continued prayers for you and your family.
