Until the Dawn by Elizabeth Camden - Audiobook Review by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Until the Dawn by Elizabeth Camden
Stellar Listen!

Until the Dawn by Elizabeth Camden

Sophie van Riijn is an unpaid volunteer, contributing data to the new national Weather Bureau. The problem is she's utilizing private property on a high area in her town by the Hudson River. And that is not okay! Especially when the owners return.  Also, she's been baking goodies which are sold to tourists who come to visit gorgeous Dierenpark (whose owners have been absent for decades), on the hilltop by the river/

Architect Quentin Vandermark believes he's destined to die soon from a recurring bone infection in her leg. He wants his anxious son to be protected and surrounds him with body guards. He's returned with his grandfather to Dierenpark destroy the fabulous property, which Mr. Vandermark believes is cursed.

Sophie's beautiful spirit and hope in Christ draw atheist Quentin toward the Lord. But of course, he will have to make his own choice for Christ.  Although initially at odds with one another, Sophie reaches Quentin and helps him see he may have a future.  When devastating secrets are revealed, will Sophie see Dierenpark destroyed, her haven, her place of beauty?

This was an excellent listen and I highly recommend this book, which will be on my Best of 2015 Audiobooks! Elizabeth Camden's talent shines throughout this novel.

  1. What an awesome book review, CARRIE! I wanted to read this one (especially b/c I'm Dutch) and a lot of Dutch names are in this one, but I have too much on my plate right now. Hoping to later!

    1. I think you would love this book, Angel Girl Diana, because of all the Dutch history in it! It has a lot of colonial era stuff to love, too, as backstory!

    1. I think I prefer the other cover that Elizabeth showed on her blog, Tina. http://elizabethcamden.com/2015/08/19/alternate-covers-for-until-the-dawn/ Hmmmm, now that I looked again, I'd say this cover IS more eye-catching although the other cover definitely captures the flavor of the story better. That's funny how you have to consider what will pull a reader in to want to buy the book rather than a cover that truly reflects the story. I've been told by my cover designers that they are going for the "flavor" and the cover doesn't have to totally match the storyline.
