After a Fashion by Jen Turano |
A Class of Their Own Book 1
By Jen Turano
Bethany House Publishers
My friend, Lisa Norato, asked me to take a look at then-new author Jen Turano's books a few years back but I didn't at first, because I was swamped with my own writing. Then the reviewers on the Overcoming with God blog raved about her stories. So I started reading them once I had the opportunity. Now I'm hooked!
So I waited with bated breath for this novel to release on NetGalley so I could read it! (Thank you NetGalley for making the story available and thank you to Bethany House for doing so!) I am under no compulsion to post a positive review.
A wonderful author, with her zingy stories and characters, Jen is my go-to author for spunky and unusual heroines. Strong spiritual threads and her heroes are all different, which I like--there is no cookie-cutter hero in her writing.
Isn't this a DREAMY cover?! I received a paperback copy from the publisher and the embossed raised elements on the cover and spine really make it even more appealing than you can tell from the lovely photograph!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
GIVEAWAY: We have THREE copies to give away this week! Leave a comment on ANY of the posts or ALL this week for a chance to win a copy, including Bonnie's lovely post on gratitude! (International winners, ebook or paperbook through Book Depository.)
CARRIE, if Jen has your seal of approval (not to mention the other OWG girls), I KNOW I must try one of her books! Can you believe I have never read nary a one? As you stated you were too busy with your writing, I usually have several books I'm reading for review purposes and have been too busy as well. Must rectify that soon. Thx, Carrie, for your review!

ReplyDeleteLove spunky, too, and never thought I could write one until Josephine Christy got ahold of me, Pam! One of the highest compliments I have received is an endorsement from Jen, who I consider the Queen of Spunky Heroines!

Oh, what are you waiting for, Jenny??? Start reading and reviewing those Jen Turano books! Blessings!
DeleteHello carrie. Thanks for another good review. I too love the cover. The beautiful lady looks like she might have been sneaking a peek of the Hero and got caught by him. Think? So many good books to read. Don't see how you all read so many and do everything you have to do. GOD bless my OWG girls. Also want to thank all of you have been praying for my brother with cancer and me. Really rough right now, but now he's better off. He is with GOD and the rest of our family except my older brother and me. Maxie > mac262(at)me(dot)com <
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss, Maxie. It is a privilege to pray with and for you. I agree with you about the cover. I read more when I'm laid up, like right now, so that's how--and by God's grace! Love and hugs to you!
DeleteJust posted a comment but it's not showing up. Not sure if you have to approve it first, but just in case, I'd like to enter the contest for Jen Turano's book. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Jen Turano's writing and have read all of the books prior to this one. I'm looking forward to reading this one when I can get my hands on it. Her sense of humor and her ability to create flawed, relatable characters and engaging, yet believable, story lines make her a winner in my book. :) Would love to win this book.
DeleteGreat interview! Shelia Hall sheliarha64@yahoo.com
