Introducing our newest OWG Angel...Bonnie Roof. We've enjoyed having Bonnie as one of our faithful OWG Followers and commenters for a long time! And we'd asked Bonnie a while back if she might considered joining us on the blog. We got a very polite denial. Then we began praying about it faithfully and asked Bonnie to do the same. And before we knew it, the Holy Spirit had convinced her to come on board with us. YAY Holy Spirit!!!
Not only are we celebrating Bonnie joining us on OWG,
we are celebrating her upcoming birthday. Bonnie is a Christmas baby. She's a Kentucky-born lady and shares a birthday with our precious Savior!
We want to WELCOME Bonnie to the OWG blog and celebrate her first birthday with us! Pull up a chair, have some hot cocoa and cake, and help yourselves to the trays of yummy candies we have out, too! Do you have a birthday on or near Christmas yourself? Tell us what you do to celebrate!
GIVEAWAY: A box of books by some of our favorite authors will go to one of our party attendees! WELCOME BONNIE and welcome to our guests!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY OF YOUR BIRTH!!! Welcome to OWG and I hope you have a wonderful celebration this year. My daughter's b-day is two days after Christmas and she good-naturedly moans about too many presents at one time. :) I'll just have a seat and enjoy this hot cocoa and candies!
ReplyDeleteThank you, SUSAN!! I never worried about getting too many presents at one time, but did miss having a separate celebration for my birthday - when I was young. Now - it is no longer a "big deal" and I am able to prioritize and put things into perspective, LOL!!
DeleteWelcome, Bonnie!!! We are SO glad to have you with us!!! Great big hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to be a part of the OWG team, CARRIE!! I have loved the blog and felt God's love through you and the other "angels" since I started following it - guess I needed those prayers and push from the Holy Spirit to convince me that I could do this and do it in a way that would honor Him and all of you!! Hugs back!!
DeleteHappy and Blessed Birthday Bonnie! Hope your day overflows with His Presence! My Daddy's birthday is December 26. He's been celebrating in Heaven since 2012. The party is lovely and the desserts are divine! :)
ReplyDeleteAren't the cake and flowers beautiful, CARYL?? Thank you for coming!! My grandmother's birthday is December 22nd and she has been celebrating in heaven for a number of years, also.
DeleteMy birthday is in the spring, but I do have a sister with a December birthday. We have to be careful not to forget her b-day in all of the holiday chaos!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Bonnie, and welcome!
PATTY - yes, usually too much holiday chaos, as you say, to devote the time in planning a birthday celebration in December that you would in other months. My mother used to say she was going to start celebrating my birthday in June, but guess it was easy to forget by the time June rolled around every year - as it never happened. However, it probably wouldn't have really felt like a true birthday celebration in June and I'm honored to say my birthday is the same day as the day Christ's birth is celebrated. Thank you for your kind words!!
DeleteOH. MY. GOODNESS!!! A joyous day for me, indeed -- one of my TOP FAVORITE people in the whole wide world is joining one of my TOP FAVORITE blogs with some of my TOP FAVORITE people in the world too!! All my faves in one place -- I just may camp out here!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, Bonnie, it is SO appropriate that you are a Christmas baby (or close enough) because you are truly a gift to those who know and love you!!
You are always in my prayers, girlfriend, but especially on the 26th, now one of my TOP FAVORITE dates in the world as well. ;)
Love you, my sweet friend!
And I wish you and all my buds from OWG -- Carrie, Diana, Teresa, Noela ... and now YOU ... the happiest and holiest of holiday seasons!!
Love you all!!
Julie
JULIE, you just happen to be one of our top favorite authors and ppl ever! In case you didn't know! haha We are indeed blessed to have Bonnie with us and I just know the Lord will use her in a mighty way and bless her for her obedience, too!
DeleteMay you have a blessed, healthy, Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year! Love you, JULIE!!!
JULIE, your sweet comments always bring tears to my eyes because you are absolutely one of the people at the very top of my list of favorite people in the world. God has blessed me greatly with your precious friendship, prayers, writing and godly inspiration (both personally and in your writing). And I probably speak for everyone when I say that we would love to have you "camp out" on the OWG blog - you always bring joy wherever you go!! Love you back!! Thank you - SO appreciate you!!
DeleteBONNIE, we welcome you to OWG with open arms! We grew to love you as a viewer and now as we know you a bit better, we feel even more blessed that you decided to join the blog with us. Not only b/c of your dear sweet ways, but we appreciate the wisdom, encouragement, and compassion that we strive for on this blog -- and THAT you definitely have! Early Happy Birthday, too, my dear friend!
ReplyDeleteDIANA - no one is any more blessed than me to be sharing this blog with some of the sweetest, most giving, inspiring and Christ-filled ladies I know!! I've reaped encouragement, felt your compassion and been blessed by the prayers of each of you. We've each faced huge health issues this year and along with knowing God has been in control of it all, we've each stood by one another as partners in prayer and sisters-in-Christ - thank each of you for that and thank you for your sweet comments!!
DeleteHappy Birthday from Kentucky Bonnie! I hope you have a very blessed day!
ReplyDeleteHi, NANCY - thank you so much!! Blessings to you, as well!! Are you, by any chance, living in the Louisville area - as I do?? If so - we'll have to meet each other for coffee/tea one day soon!!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Miss Bonnie!! I pray that you not only have a very special birthday but also a Christmas filled with joy, love and Blessings! I'm so glad we have become friends and my life has been enriched just by knowing you. Have a blast here on OWG!
ReplyDeleteLove & Hugs,
Wanda
Ditto, WANDA!! I'm blessed to have you as a friend, also - and your quiet gentle, giving spirit has spoken volumes to me. Keeping you in my prayers and hoping to meet you the next time I'm down your way!! Love and hugs to you, also, dear friend!! Thank you for your kindness and thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteHappy Birthday Bonnie! Hope you have a blessed day. I know about the combining of your birthday and Christmas. My birthday is in early January. My wonderful mother made sure there was a difference in the celebrations.
ReplyDeleteSmall world, my mother's birthday is in January also, CONNIE - the 12th. I'm so glad you have a separate celebration for your birthday, also glad you stopped by today. Thank you for your birthday greeting and blessing, hoping your day was blessed - as well!!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Bonnie!! Hope you enjoy your special day during this special season! :)
ReplyDeleteSavanna
I'm SO blessed you took the time to stop by, dear SAVANNA!! It IS a special season, isn't it - the most important ever, actually. How would we make it without the Christ Child?? Thank you for reminding us!!
DeleteBonnie, I pray your birthday is fantastically amazing and full of blessings!
ReplyDeleteEMILY - thank you for your birthday prayer and blessing!! It WILL be an amazing day of blessings as God has already blessed me in so many ways. MY prayer is that you feel just as blessed!!
DeleteHappy, blessed Christmas birthday Bonnie!!!!! What a wonderful day to have a birthday! I'm curious, was it hard celebrating your birthday, or did you receive extra gifts?
ReplyDeleteI have to wait six months for my birthday. :(
I am so happy you joined with these lovely ladies! I'm
SO happy to see you here, Regina!! I was blessed with a wonderful family so shouldn't say it was hard celebrating my birthday, but being an average kid growing up in the USA - yes, I did feel disappointment in not having my birthday singled out for a special celebration. Candles were usually put on whatever cake/dessert we were having and I DID usually get a 2nd gift, more expensive one, or extra money - since it was a double celebration, but somehow it didn't feel the same as getting gifts for Christmas and birthday on separate occasions, rather, more like something tacked on to the main event. I only remember one special birthday party - just for me - my sweet 16th, until my sister-in-law made me feel special last year when we had a family get-together that was ALL about me. She cooked my fave foods, everyone sang "Happy Birthday" numerous times during the day, there were gifts, birthday decor and lots of fun and laughter. I really appreciated the effort she made even though I had long ago gotten over the disappointment of not having birthday parties. At my age - I'm thankful and blessed to be alive!! Thank you for welcoming me to OWG!!
DeleteHappy Birthday Bonnie. No one has any excuse for ever forgetting your birthday.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you're SO right, MARY!! Least of all, my mother - I was born at home on a snowy day in a country farmhouse, the steep ice-covered roads were hazardous and my father risked his life more than once - out on the roads trying to locate the doctor, who arrived just as I was being born. That's one Christmas dinner my family missed, the doctor stopping by my grandmother's house on his way home with the news and explanation for my parent's "no show", LOL. Thank you!!
DeleteWhat a fun party! (yes I'm back, I need another cup of cocoa and some more cookies) I did assure my daughter that some day she wouldn't mind that her birthday is by Christmas, but if it really bothered her we could celebrate her half birthday. She wasn't too thrilled on that. I am glad that you have overcome that and know how to enjoy this time of year! Again I wish you a fantastic day and year and also cannot wait to see you blogging on here! (back to eating cookies)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, SUSAN!! Still plenty of goodies left so help yourself!! My family suggested celebrating my birthday in June several times, for some reason - it never materialized, but it probably wouldn't have seemed like my birthday anyway, LOL!! Will be looking forward to your return for my next post!!
DeleteHappy Birthday to You & Merry Christmas !!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday isn't on Christmas Day but I am a "Turkey Baby".
Welcome to the OWG Blog.
Janet E.
JANET - thank you for your birthday/Christmas greetings and the welcome, hoping to see you here for my future posts!! The "Turkey Baby" and the "Christmas Baby" - you can relate to celebrating your birthday on a holiday, LOL!!
DeleteWishing you just the most joyous of Birthday's ! !
ReplyDeleteAnd a very Merry Christmas...
The ladies here on OWG do know how to throw a party :)
I'm a month late for Christmas, January 27, & 2 weeks early for Valentines Day.. We enjoy a special dinner & dessert chosen by the birthday person to celebrate :)

DeleteHappy Birthday Bonnie and welcome to OWG! I can appreciate growing up with a holiday birthday. I am a New Year's eve baby. While I now appreciate the tax deduction I gave my parents, when I was little it was not as easy.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and enjoy your special day!

ReplyDeleteI'll pass on the cake and cookies, but would love a cup of hot cocoa.
Merry Christmas to all of you wonderful ladies of OWG!!
SO happy you could stop by, CINDI!! Love your comment about the celebration of Christ's birth - I'm sure my birth gave special significance of the Christ Child's birth to my parents and family!! Wish I didn't love those sweets so much, but would love to share a cup of hot cocoa with you - there's even whipped cream, cherries and chocolate sprinkles, if you want (I'm an all or nothing person, LOL)!! Thanks for your warm welcome and greetings!!
DeleteWishing you the happiest of birthdays Bonnie as you celebrate the Lord's birth as well as His gift of your birthday to your family and friends!! And a huge welcome as well! She is a wonderful lady and has always loved celebrating her birthday with Jesus. So we have our Christmas then have her party. or vice-versa. What a blessing Bonnie to have you join this group of such special ladies.

We also celebrate Jesus birth too.
oh.hello.hiya@gmail.com.
Again happy Birthday to you friend.
Oh and my Birthday is jan 12th. And I don't do much. This year I will be working on my birthday. Not sure what else I will be doing but what ever it is It will be good.
Deleteoh.hello.hiya@gmail.com
Bonnie, I forgot to say my Ellen has always received more gifts than anyone else, because that's when more relatives are around so they give her a Birthday gift. Where with the other kid's birthdays the other relatives, than just our family weren't around so they didn't get the extra gifts our Christmas girl did. Again welcome. Maxie
