Review of Lisa Norato's "The Promise Keeper"

The Promise Keeper by Lisa Norato

Lisa Norato’s "The Promise Keeper" is a lovely book that sweeps you away to 1825 to Duxbury, Massachusetts. You will feel as though you are there! Love Lisa’s author voice and her ability to craft memorable characters and a spell-binding story.

Sweet Iris Moon lives with her father, having lost her mother the previous year. She is said to greatly resemble her beautiful mother. The Light keeper intrigues her and Iris often goes up to the top of her house to the Captain's watch to observe the man who tries to keep the fires burning in the lighthouse. Mr. Mayne intrigues her and she sets out to visit Clark's island, where he lives. He tells her she already knows him but she doesn't remember him until later in the novel.

Determined to lead an isolated life, Johnny Mayne is drawn to Iris partially because she reminds him of her mother and because he knew her as a child. A terrible storm ends Johnny's plan to be alone in his lighthouse. Iris, housekeeper Hetty, and her father must care for him and draw him out.  There is a disabled young man, Peter, who plays into the story line as well.

Highly recommended! This is a novel to savor so take your time. The only disappointment you will have is when you are done reading the book and it is over.  Simply enchanting. This is one of my candidates for book of the year on the OWG blog.

Giveaway: This week we are giving away two copies of Lisa's novels, winners' choice of book. International winners ebook only.

Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of "Prize of My Heart" which, judging from the fabulous reviews, promises to be just as wonderful as "The Promise Keeper"!!

  7. Hello Carrie. Thanks for this good review. Very interesting story to me. Now if I can just win it. Please see that my name gets in the drawing. Now, I want to thank everyone who prayed for my Lori. They called her and offered her the job. Of course she said yes, and she goes to work on Monday morning. They are starting her a week earlier too. It pays a lot less than what she makes, so don't know how she will pay all of her bills. Like too many people who live right to the limit of what they make. :( Also, her boss who appealed to keep her from getting unemployment lost. This from a man who told her he would give her a good reference. Then told a bunch of lies. But, they believed her. Praise GOD.
    Love all of you. Maxie
