A Match of Wits by Jen Turano |
Jen Turano delivers again in this witty book! Agatha Watson, having been sent West with a body guard (Spoiler alert: two body guards!) hasn't seen Zayne Beckett in two years. Although she had strong feelings for him, he was engaged to another woman. Agatha sends back articles to New York, for the newspaper but someone there is trying to kill her. She comes across a filthy mountain man, who turns out to be Zayne, with a serious leg injury that has left him with a limp. She determines to get him back home, and does.
Zayne was dumped by his fiancee. He doesn't want to go home, but when he and Agatha and the guards are attacked at his mine, he heads back East with his old friend, Agatha. As will the other Jen Turano novels there are enough shenanigans to keep the reader continuously turning those pages forward.
Very entertaining. A little different from the previous books in that there is much more dialogue and far less description of the various settings.
Bibliotherapy: Accept who you are, as God made you. Also, Zayne has succumbed to addictive behavior, which he overcomes. He has to cope with and learn to overcome a serious injury, also. This was nicely done.
Disclaimer: I read this as a NetGalley download and am under no requirement to post a positive review.
Giveaway: Choice of Jen Turano book and choice of format (ebook only or paperback if available through Book Depository for international.)

DeleteHope you have a fabulous week!

I would love to get a chance to read this book. I still haven't read anything by Jen Turano. Love the cover! I don't know if this is true to the story, but the heroine looks a little mischievous. :)
ReplyDeleteThe OWG angels loved Jen's work. And I finally got an opportunity, after foot surgery, to listen to and read a lot of books, including all of Jen's. You'd love her writing!
DeleteHi Jennifer!
DeleteI have to say, this particular heroine is, well, yes, she's more than a little mischievous - just how I like to write my heroines:)
Thank you for stopping by, and good luck with the giveaway!
All the best,
~ Jen ~
I would love to have a chance to read this book. I really enjoy trying new authors. I have seen and heard a lot about your writing and the reviews that I have read has wanted me to go and purchase the book. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to enter this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLaura, the OWG bloggers pointed me in Jen's direction after my friend, Lisa Norato, recommended Jen to us. They are both fabulous writers! You are welcome!
DeleteThank you, Laura! Good luck with the giveaway - and if you have an e-reader, there is a free prequel novella out there - Gentleman of Her Dreams - it's short, but a complete story, and will give you a taste of my writing style, which, I've been told, is a little....quirky....
DeleteHope you have a great week!
All the best,
~ Jen ~

Even if I don't win I plan on reading this book.
ReplyDeleteI definitely would, Fran. It's a great book and I'd read all of Jen's books, if I were you! Blessings!
DeleteI've read all of Jen's books except this one (it's on my want to read list). Her characters are so much fun! I usually chuckle my way through each book. My book club is discussing A Change of Fortune at our meeting Saturday so I look forward to see what the others thought of it. I would love to win a copy of A Match of Wits.
ReplyDeleteLove being left with such a happy feeling after reading Jen's books, Pam! That is neat about your Book Club reading!! Thanks for coming by!

DeleteBecky, that is what is different about my reviews. I was a psychologist for 25 years and bibliotherapy is something I try to include in each review. Thanks for coming by!
DeleteCarrie, I really like that. I think it is very valuable. :-)
DeleteI will be following.
Becky
Kate, I think this is part of that first series but she's starting another--but I may be confused. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great fun read! Sometimes those are just needed! Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm burnt out on the high tension historical romances right now, Nancy, so I agree! And you are welcome!
DeleteI would love to read this. Sounds like a great read!

Once I started reading the first one I had to read all the rest, Summer. That is one of the benefits of waiting to read a new author. Glad Lisa Norato came to us at OWG and told us about Jen. Blessings!
DeleteLooks like a fun book. Would love to win a copy to enjoy and share.
ReplyDeleteYes, all of Jen's books are really fun to read but they are also meaty. Will enter your name for the drawing! Blessings!
DeleteThis sounds and looks like a super fun book to read

ReplyDeleteAck! I hate the no editing your comment option. lol
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I absolutely loved this book! I am big on dry humor and enjoying life's ups and downs. This book was a very enjoyable read. Great review!
I wish it allowed edits, too, Susan! I love Jen's sense of humor, too! Great seeing you here! Hugs!
DeleteUh oh, your link is broken, Marisa. Can you send it to me again, privately. Thanks for you kind comments. Oh, you have to read all her other books, too, they are so good! Thanks for coming by!
ReplyDeleteLove an entertaining novel with shenanigans, romance, and a cast of great characters! ;) Thanks for the great review Carrie, this one is high on my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteTY, Noela! I always love your reviews!! Thanks for stopping by. You've got to read this, Noela--you'll love it! Hugs!!!
DeleteI have been absolutely loving this series and am really looking forward to reading Zayne & Agatha's story!! Love those two! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! :)
The worst part is for the series to end, Aerykah. I'm betting we can get her to write some more about these characters if we bug Jen enough! You are welcome!
DeleteThanks for the wonderful review, Carrie!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of Jen's books but love books full of flawed characters, unusual story lines and humor - which I'm told Jen's books have. "A Match of Wits" has a beautiful cover also!! Thanks for the opportunity to become acquainted with Jen Turano's writing!!
