When I was introduced
to Regina Jennings books two years ago I knew her characters and I were going to
become dear friends. So imagine my delight when I discovered this book would tell
the story of a brave young woman we met in Sixty Acres and a Bride; Anne
Tillerton.
Anne thought she could
put the past behind her when she took up the harsh life of a buffalo hunter. Never
again would Anne trust a man with her heart after being mistreated by her
father as a child and abused as a young woman by her now deceased husband.
Until that fateful day she ran into Nicholas
Lovelace from back home. Anne doesn't need this, all she wants to do is find that
silly cook Tessa and bring her back so she doesn't have to cook at the train
depot at Pushmataha.
While waiting for the train to Garber, Texas Nicholas Lovelace, spies a
woman dressed in the garb of a buffalo hunter and he knows there is only one
beautiful woman that dresses that way; Anne Tillerton. On the way back home the train is stopped by a
group of robbers. When Nick tries to come to the rescue of a young lady that is
being accosted by the robbers, he would have been shot had not the brave Ms.
Tillerton intervened and shot the toe out of the said robber's boot. Nick
happily realizes Anne still has dead aim!
When Anne finds Tessa she can't get the errant cook to agree to come
with her. Instead Tessa flees and leaves behind a surprise for Anne; her sweet baby
boy! What is a buffalo hunter supposed to do with a baby? Remembering that
after she saved Nick's life he told her if she ever needed anything all she had
to do was ask; Anne sets out to find Nick's office, surely he'll know what to
do! Anne shows up at with the baby in tow and what follows is a story that had
me going back and forth between laughing and gasping. Nick just wants to have a
life in politics; Anne just wants to go back to her buffalo hunting. Well we all
know you don't always get what you want but when God is in charge of the plans
you always get just what you need!
This book is Regina Jennings at her finest; it is packed with excitement
and romance and it truly blessed my heart to see how Anne came to terms with
her past and learned to trust her heavenly Father. If you haven't read one of
Regina's books then let this be your first and I promise you will want to rush
out and grab the other two in this fun series. Thanks Regina for this truly satisfying
read!
***Thanks to NetGalley and Bethany House for providing me a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.***

I also love the cover. It's very appealing!

DeleteHello my OWG girls. And, Regina. Great job Teresa. Diana haven't you ever read about Annie Oakley? She was a famous woman. I have done a lot of hunting but never a Buffalo. I have "Sixty Acres and a Bride" by Regina, but would love to get this one to go with it. It's lonely. :) Love the cover. I think we have all had that look on our face at some time, right? Please put my name in. May GOD bless each of you. I had a wonderful Mother's Day with twenty four of my family honoring me with their presence. Children, Grands, and Greats. and others that couldn't make it.
ReplyDeleteMaxie mac262(at)me(dot)com
MAXIE, what a wonderful Mother's Day you had! Awesome...24 family members! Yes, I heard about Annie Oakley when I was a little girl...but did she hunt buffalo? Now I'm going to have to google her....you've got my curiosity up!
DeleteInteresting reading. She worked with the Buffalo Bill show for many years b/c she was such a great markswoman, and she did hunt but not sure about hunting buffalo. She was married quite a few years and her husband passed away only 2 1/2 weeks after her. Nice looking lady....
DeleteThx, MAXIE! I had my history lesson today! ;)
Good call, Maxie. I did actually have Annie Oakley in mind when I thought about Anne. Thankfully, the real Annie didn't have as much trauma in her early life (at least as far as I'm aware), but they both found love in the end, didn't they?
DeleteWow. That review makes me want to read CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE. I'm one who hasn't yet read any of Regina Jennings's books.

DeleteGreat review!! The cover of this book, alone, makes me want to read it, but the review confirms my desire.
ReplyDeleteYa gotta love the boots with the dress. ♥ it.
cindialtman(at)gmail(dot)com
Absolutely agree CINDI!! I LOVE the boots with that dress... It really gives a great "picture" of the character Anne Tillerton.... AND it's a fabulous review too!! :) Take it from me also, the story is fantastic and lives up to both!
DeleteIt sounds really fun. I enjoyed the review. I haven't read her works yet, but would love to!
ReplyDeleteSonja dot Nishimoto at gmail dot com
Hi SONJA, it is most definitely a fun story but is also a very beautifully told story as well! I hope you to get to read Regina's books soon, I think you'd really love them!!

ReplyDeleteHi CARYL, answering on behalf of Teresa as she's away on vacation and doesn't have wifi readily available. Thanks for coming by, always lovely to see our new friend! I agree, Teresa did a top job with the review for this fantastic story, and the cover of the book is just exceptional! A perfect depiction of the character. :) Blessings and hugs back!
DeleteSounds like a great book--I have not yet read any of her books either. A win would be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVicki
I said this on Facebook but it bears repeating - I want to read it just because of the cover photo! Love, love, love the boots with that dress! Sounds wonderful - can't wait to read this one!
ReplyDeleteLoved Teresa's review of "Caught in the Middle"!! Thanks, Teresa!!
ReplyDeleteI've always known about Annie Oakley and her sharp marksmanship, but had never thought in terms of her hunting buffalo. I just received this book this week from a win on another blog, but would love to win a copy of another of Regina's books or another copy of "Caught in the Middle" for a good friend who is an avid reader and has many serious physical problems.
As with everyone else, the cover with the boots and the facial expression is what drew me to the book - it sounds like such an adventurous, romantic, humorous story with spiritual lessons to inspire and I'm looking forward to reading it!!
