God Reached Down from Heaven with the Best Gift of All
A sacred season is about to unfold for three women whose hearts belong to God.
Elizabeth is barren, yet her trust in God remains fertile. Mary is betrothed in marriage, yet she is willing to bear God’s Son. Anna is a widow full of years, yet she waits patiently, prayerfully for the Messiah to appear in the temple courts.
Following in their footsteps, you too can prepare for the Savior to enter your heart, your mind, and your life in a vibrant, new way. Best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs explores the biblical stories of Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna, unwrapping each verse with tender care and introducing you afresh to The Women of Christmas.

I can say that the Lord has brought me through some tough times and having a sabatical would be nice when the Lord Revives my Spirit and helps me get things to where I want them to be and where he wants them to be.

DeleteCARRIE thanks for sharing this beautiful book with us today! How great was it to meet Liz Curtis Higgs!! This time of year is always too busy but it should never be too busy for a refreshing from the Lord. I pray that I will remember our Heavenly Father's sacrifice in sending us His only Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for my sins! Remembering God loved me that much makes me want to draw closer to Him.
ReplyDeleteYou really sense the Holy Spirit in Liz's life--as though there is a mantel of His holiness settled on her. She's really anointed, Teresa! I feel the same as you do. His love draws me closer.
DeleteSounds like an uplifting book--thanks for sharing with us and offering a chance to win this book.

I believe it will be really inspiring, Vicki!
DeleteGreat post, Carrie!
ReplyDeleteThere is no one like Liz, OR her books! It is because of her that I am, now, such a big Christian fiction fan - having, previously, read mostly non-fiction. I am blessed to live near her, & have the opportunity to hear her speak (&, to speak to her), locally, now & then. I heard her speak, in the church she attends, in Oct., & at Women of Faith, in Nov.. Never get tired of hearing, & viewing, her enthusiasm, humor, literary talent, & love for her Lord, & sisters-in-Christ!
I strive for the spiritual enthusiasm Liz has, & pray that I honor Christ, & the sacrifice He made for me - not only at Christmas, but each, & every day - by fulfilling His plan for my life.

She's an amazing lady, Bonnie! I've not gotten to hear Liz speak other than to talk with her and listening to her on audiobook but she has a great voice and is filled with the Spirit, so I imagine she's great, like you say!
DeleteI love to hear Liz speak! Of course, I've only seen her on video but she has such a great way of telling Bible stories, and seems like such a sweet lady. Love that photo of the two of you. Beautiful brides of Christ!!! Love & hugs, my sweet friend, Carrie ~ Anne
ReplyDeleteOh, I should watch her videos! Oh, that is so sweet, Anne! Hugs!
DeleteFor me is to have a Christmas time peace and always remember why Christmas is more important than presents.
ReplyDeleteIt should be that way, LeAnn--that is wonderful you keep the holiday holy!
Delete~*OWG*~ Our area has been covered with winter's beautiful snow. Thoughts and wonders of driving 10-1/2 hours, in good weather, to our daughter's family further North. My husband was unable to get the car up to our hilltop after running an errand earlier today... but, the Lord has already been to our tomorrows and comes alongside to be with us every moment. I have been praying for those stuck on the interstates through the night. At this Christmastide may all be safe and cared for as only He can. ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm, Kathleen!! Hugs!!

ReplyDeleteI am a OWG follower! - Since I've become disabled because of this medical error, it causes serious health complications. My Mom is my caregiver and as we tell the family we take it one day at a time. I never know what the next morning will bring but severe pain. I want to draw closer to the Lord. He knows what's happening and will give me the strength and determination to make it that day. I'm always reminded of his birth and then go through the pain for our salvation. What a price He paid. Thank you for the opportunity to enter this giveaway.

Yes, as we think of His pain for us it makes ours not seem so bad, doesn't it. He died for us. Wow.
DeleteCarrie, Thank you for featuring Liz. Like so many others this is a very challenging year for me. I am praying that God will give me His peace and emotional strength . that even if I am alone that He is with me. that I can get through the Christmas season without doing all the trappings of gifts and it will be all right. My heart knows all this but I need the peace of it in my emotions. Thank you and Merry Christmas

ReplyDeleteI have been praying for God to help me put down something that I have wanted for a long time, but doors have never opened for. It is hard to let go of this, but I have been leaning on Him and he is giving me some peace. I follow OWG.

Hello Carrie. Good review. This reminded I had heard of Liz some years back and wrote info down about her. I was going to talk to the girls who tend our Ladies Ministry about having her as our speaker sometime. Don't know how much people like this get for speaking to groups just thought she sounded like a good one. Anyway, just recently found the note I had written. I'm the Champion of losing things. I need GOD's help in getting me back to spending more time in His word. Spend way too much on my computer these days because I enjoy it so much. I am ok with being alone a lot, but always get to spend time with family on that day. I've lost too many family members to let it effect my enjoying this special Holliday of our Saviors birth. None of them would want me not to enjoy life. Must say it is the time I miss my Joe most. He loved Christmas, even when we weren't living near any of the kids. He would help me put the tree up and lights on, then lay on the couch watching me decorate. I can still see him there at times it seems, with our little Chihuahua, Tinkerbelle. I always have my Nativity scene, and have small ones over the room and lots on my tree. Also have a daughter who shares Jesus' birthday. I love, love, love these OWG gals and have to follow them every day. Please put my name in for Liz's book. Thanks! Maxie mac262(at)me(dot)com
ReplyDeleteMay the spirit and meaning of Christmas so permeate our hearts and remain with us that we become a renewed person in Christ for all our days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this lovely post about Liz's book CARRIE! It really does have a gorgeous cover and it sounds like a book I'd love to read over this crazy busy Christmas season. I'm looking forward to going to my church's spectacular Christmas production next weekend and to enjoy and rejoice in this celebration of the Christmas message to our community!
