Teresa S. Mathews Reviews A Talent for Trouble

A Talent for Trouble by Jen Turano

Bethany House Publishers

Reviewed by Teresa S Mathews

5 Stars*****

Jen Turano has again created a story that will have you gasping, giggling or guffawing. This time around we are learning more of the dear Felicia Murdock, the sweet subdued young woman that was always being thrust in the middle of things by her overly anxious mother.

We catch up with Felicia as she has just returned from watching who she thought was the love of her life get married to someone else. Felicia thought SHE was the one that was supposed to marry Rev. Michael Frasier. After thinking long and hard about it she decided maybe she misunderstood what God was saying to her so she decides to undergo a complete change in the way she has been acting the past four years. Won't everyone be shocked when she shows off the curvaceous body she has been hiding in those outlandish dresses?

Grayson Sumner aka Lord Sefton has always thought there was more to Felicia than the very demure, quiet young lady that was hiding behind those horrible outfits with the hideous bows and ribbons. He has seen a glimpse of the spirited woman that is dying to escape those confines. Will he be able to keep up with her when Felicia does finally decide to let her out?

When her mother and her friends Agatha Watson and Eliza decide Felicia needs to be cheered up, they think Grayson should be the one to do it. What this scheme starts is a delightful turn of events that will have Felicia going from one troublesome thing to another. From giving her old dresses to some odd men that were going to wear them in a theater production, to helping an old man into a tavern where she decides she wants to sing for them, even though she knows she can't sing a lick! It was a good thing Grayson showed up because there were some very naughty men that were not going to let her leave. Felicia saw a side of Grayson that certainly made her heart beat fast when he was able to get her safely away from the men in the tavern. After that escapade Felicia was left with a lot of unanswered questions about Grayson's past.

There are a lot of secrets that Grayson harbors from his time in China. Some too horrible to think about much less share with a sweet girl like Felicia. If he does share them, will she ever be able to forgive him? When trouble from his past arises will he be able to keep Felicia safe?

Every time I see that Jen Turano has another book coming out I get very excited because I know I am going to have a wonderful time living out the adventures in it. I always close one of her books with a sigh of satisfaction knowing I have read a book from a very talented author. Thank you for a job well done and I can barely wait for our next exciting caper!

You can find this exciting book and others by Ms. Turano at AmazonCBDDeeperShopping and other bookstores.

    1. Thank you so much, JOY, for your kind words. I adore the Gilded Age as well, which you probably already knew since that is what I write:) Good luck with the drawing and I hope you have a great weekend!

      All the best,

  44. I have just discovered Jen's books and I'm now a fan for life! : ) I live in Ecuador and have to satisfy my need to read with ebooks. Jen's books are funny, exciting and suspenseful! I can't wait to find out what happens with Felicia and hopefully Agatha as well!

    1. Hi JAMIE! Great to see you here and thank you again for your delightful letter. And you will find out about Agatha in book four - A Match of Wits - but it doesn't come out until 2014:)

Good luck with the drawing and I hope you have a great weekend in Ecuador!

      All the best,

      ~ Jen ~
