It's amazing that when I came on OWG with CARRIE and DIANA I gained a daughter from the Netherlands and a sister from Australia, and a BFF in CARRIE and DIANA was already my BFF from my church!! Have a wonderful shopping day for your birthday--I think I shall go do some shopping myself--in honor of your birthday! ;-) As to a yummy birthday cake--I'm with the person above who mentioned the tall chocolate cake from Costco--SO YUMMY! If I was ever home long enough, I could make & decorate a beautiful moist cake, as I used to teach cake decorating! My secret to a moist cake (as I always shared in my classes) is to lower the temp 25 degree's to slow down the baking. I always use cake mixes & the only thing I do differently is lower the temp, which I began doing because it gives you a flatter cake top (the outside bakes faster than the center, which is why the center tends to be higher--slowing down the baking helps this problem), but after getting MANY compliments on how moist my cakes were, I realized it must also hold the moisture inside. and yea, I have also baked wedding cakes too, including those for my children and wedding anniversary cakes for myself & my parents...

ReplyDeleteHI CARRIE thanks for the great party! I was going to add a picture when I was 16 and I had just learned to decorate cakes and I made myself TWO cakes and NO one showed up to share them with me. It was OK...I got to eat LOTS of cake!!! lol
DeleteLoved the green lipstick, reminded me of the mood rings from the 70's. We were going to Charleston for the day but Carlton had a bad dizzy spell so we decided to stick around town. Took Joshua shopping at Kohl's. Couldn't find anything for me except a pair of earrings off the clearance rack!! lol

Hey TERESA! Happy Birthday, you gorgeous girl :) Sorry it took me so long to get to the par-tay but I had to go birthday shopping for my oldest son. His bday is tomorrow. DeleteWhen we were a pastor's family...we were approached about a man in prison whose family lived in our area, about the church buying them Christmas presents. One of the deacons stood up and said...let ____________ worry about getting his family presents, he put himself in prison. I was shocked that someone would actually say that outloud, (and years later we are the family with a son in prison). That night when we got home our 4 kids, age 9 to 16 asked to talk to us. Money was tight (we only spent $25 for each kids gift)and they knew that I had put back $100.00 to fill their stockings. OH...they are all adopted and some remember their foster home experiences. They had decided they wanted us to use their stocking money to buy that family their gifts. Even now I'm getting goose bumps remembering. We pulled out the list the inmate kids had wrote of what they wanted...impossible gifts such as a game system & more. We prayed. The very next day a lady calls and her job was cleaning out apartments when folks left and was allowed to keep whatever was left. Guess What... there was a brand new game system WITH several games and she wanted to know if we needed it! That week, EVERYTHING on that list was fulfilled..because of prayer and our kids faith. Then we received a call from a family who invited us over and said...every year their family would pick another family to 'bless' and they had picked us! Guess how much they gave us? $100! Our family received such a huge blessing while others lost out...and our kids...had filled stockings!
