Running here, running there
Got to spread that Christmas Cheer.
Looking here, looking there
Looking for gifts everywhere.
Searching high, searching low
Got to spend that Christmas dough.
What’s that noise? What’s that sound?
Let me stop and look around.
Could it be a baby’s cry?
The one adored by angel’s from on high?
Wait a minute, let me see.
Is this what Christmas is supposed to be?
Remembering the babe from ago.
Come on now, is it really so?
This is the meaning of Christmas joy?
This little tiny baby boy?
No it just can’t be true,
Remembering Jesus just won’t do.
Santa Claus and reindeer sounds,
No better Christmas story goes ‘round.
Wait, what’s that noise? What’s that sound?
I don’t have time to stop and look around.
Someone’s crying once again,
Someone’s dying for our sin.
No longer a baby little and sweet
Now a man with nails in His hands and feet.
Forgive them Lord, I hear Him cry.
For all their sins I was born to die.
Please help us make people see
The real meaning of the “CHRIST-mas tree“.
Not something beautiful with all those lights.
Just an old rugged cross, O what a sight!
Forgive us Jesus for forgetting You are the Reason
For this wonderful Christmas Season.
“FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE” JOHN 3:16

Wow, what a beautiful poem TERESA! I got the HG bumps!! Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you MARIAN. I'm glad it touched you. With all the commercialism that surrounds Christmas nowadays I wanted to point out the true and real meaning of Christmas. :)
DeleteTERESA... this has to be one of my favourite poems of yours!! So very well put, it really touched my heart and I pray it will touch many, many others too!
ReplyDeleteNOELA I am so glad it touched you and I sure hope it will touch a lot of other people. It is so easy at Christmas to get caught up with all the buying of gifts that we tend to forget the most important gift of all...GOD'S SON, JESUS!
DeleteAwesome, Teresa!!! I was wondering there for a minute but you pulled through ;)
ReplyDeleteANNE thank you! YES! I pulled through...was beginning to seriously wonder if I would or not! :D
DeleteSo beautifully expressed, Teresa, thanks so much for sharing! Let us never forget what Christ has done for us, let us rejoice in the true spirit of Christmas, and let us always be thankful this time of year because of who Christ is for us and not what we have/don't have. I am counting my blessings and thanking God for this blog and all of you among other things this year *smile*
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Teresa and thank you for your wonderful poems :)
Hugs and blessings, Kara
THANK YOU KARA, it's always great to see you stop by. Your words always touch my heart. I am just so grateful that I have been able to share my poems and that someone likes them! lol No seriously, I have been writing poems since a young girl, but I've never really shared them except the ocassional one in the Church Bulletin or my family.
DeleteWhat a wonderful poem and such a creative way to celebrate our Savior's birth and purpose in coming to redeem us!
ReplyDeleteThank you CARLA, those sweet words mean a lot coming for a great writer such as yourself! :)
DeleteUm, speaking of the commercial aspect of Christmas -- guess what I've been doing today? Not running here nor running there, but wrapping presents after I have run here and there for 2 weeks! I'm thankful for church at Christmas time and the Christmas Eve get together we have at my sis in law's every year. They help keep me grounded and remind me of the true reason for the season. We eat and then sing carols on Christmas Eve with the whole family.
ReplyDeleteI love your wonderful poem, TERESA, and your reminder that we should be so thankful for that little babe who grew up and gave HIS life that we might have eternal life! He is no longer in that manger, but sits at the right hand of the Father!
DIANA I havent even joined in this year with the shopping, well at least not much except a few things off the internet. LOL But you know that reason. :)
DeleteLovely poem, Teresa! I had no idea you were so gifted! Thanks so much for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteThank you FAYE, glad I could share this poem with everyone. So glad you liked it. :)
DeleteCouldn't be better timing for this, Diana. Thank you for drawing us back to the manger and to the cross today. I pray that our lost and hurting world will find the real reason He came--reconciliation and hope. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathleen, glad you enjoyed my poem. Thanks for coming by. :)
DeleteTERESA!!! I'm with Noela -- this is my FAVORITE of all your beautiful poems!!! You have such a gift with saying so much with so few words -- that is the mark of a true writer, in my opinion. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
AAWWEE...JULIE you are so sweet. I don't know about me being a writer but who am I to argue with THE JULIE LESSMAN??!! LOL I'm just glad you enjoyed it! :)
DeleteI just love this Teresa. Wish I could share it with all of my friends! It is beautiful, and so true. The attention is usually on the gifts. No taking time to just remember what it really means. ( My step-daughter writes a new Poem about Christ every Christmas. It IS her card. She has been doing this for years. She is so talented. I wish she would get them published into a book. ) I wish a" Very Merry CHRISTmas" to each of you girls. I love this site! Maxie
ReplyDeleteMAXIE thank you, it's always great to see you on here. Why not share the link with your friends and they can join us too. :) Hope you have a very Merry CHRISTmas too!

ReplyDeleteMay God Bless and keep you for the New Years to come our way.
What a wonderful poem! Teresa, you are so talented and I just wish everyone could read this one and know what the real meaning of Christmas really is. And I do appreciate how you explained that shadow that hovers over the manger. Cuddling baby is so sweet but cruel crucifiction was the end result for Jesus because of me!! Thank you again and Happy birthday Diana! What a gift to you. Blessings! Darlene
