Five Stars*****
Once again the magnificent Julie Lessman has brought to us a masterpiece of love, telling the story of the last O’Connor sons, Steven. Words cannot express the wonder of this story, as always when you open one of Julie’s books you are swept away to a magical land where dreams do come true. You may think you know what’s going to happen but the path to that conclusion is never straight forward and that’s the fun of reading her books.
Susannah Grace Kennedy has always been the sweet obedient daughter of a minister. But since her mom and then her dad passed away she is having a few anger issues with God. Susannah and her younger sister Glory have had to move in with their Mom’s sister, Eleanor who is dealing with hurts of her own. Susannah wants a new start so she changes her name to Annie at the urging of one of her new friends. Will Annie come to realize before it’s too late these girls are not her friends?
Annie’s Aunt Eleanor doesn’t want her going out at night but Annie doesn’t see the harm in it. So when she is sure she won’t be caught, out the window she goes, walking straight into trouble with a capital T. Thankfully she is rescued by none other than Steven O’Connor, prohibition agent. She thinks he the most handsome, thought consuming man she has ever met, he thinks she is just a kid. When Annie decides to prove to Steven she is not a kid by kissing him after he has seen her safely home, Steven seemingly turns it around on her to teach her a lesson, but who really learned the lesson?
Steven has been a changed man since the night he feels he caused his father’s almost fatal heart attack. After that night he broke up with the beautiful, irresistible Maggie Kennedy who seemed to be the root of the problem with his family. Steven thought he would never be able to get over Maggie until he rescues a sweet, innocent young girl by the name of Annie. Will Steven ever truly be free from his past to love someone like Annie? What happens when his past comes back to haunt him?
I loved catching up with the O’Connor family, Faith and Colin, Charity and Mitch, Elizabeth and Brady, Katie and Luke, Sean and Emma, and of course Marceline and Patrick, without them there would be no O’Connor’s! Julie has little tidbits of the lives of each of the children and now their children, woven in with Annie and Steven’s story. There are a lot of surprises that will have you shocked and gasping for a breath! I promise you will not want to put it down; you will be frantically flipping those pages until you can breath easy once again. If you have read all of Julie’s books so far, I want you to know this one is better than ever. I know you are probably thinking how can Julie get any better when her work is perfection? Let me put it this way; it has more SIZZLE than ever.
Julie thank you for a most enjoyable read and I am waiting with bated breath for the story of Marceline and Patrick to come out!

SIZZLE is right! :) What an exciting review, TERESA. Loved it when I first read it and loved it when I just reread it! Nice!!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed reading your review Teresa! It brought me right back into the O'Connor's home and the lives of all those lovable and entertaining people! Lol I need to remind myself they're characters, but they're all just so well-developed and unique people. I mean characters! Can hardly wait to experience the sizzle, sparks and surprises Julie! :)
ReplyDeleteTERESA, Did you read this book in a record amount of time?! Your review is so fast-paced, it exudes excitement :) Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteELYSSA I know you will everyone of Julie's books. Good Luck on a win!
ReplyDeleteDIANA thank you...it just about broke my heart to read that last page. :)
ReplyDeleteNOELA I know what you mean, it's like they become part of your family. :)
ReplyDeleteANNE I usually do with Julie's books but I must admit I savored it a little longer this time because it was the last. ~sigh~ Then again there's Marceline and Patrick's story coming. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW, TERESA AND DOUBLE WOW!!! Holy cow, you gals DO know how to write a heck of a REVIEW!!! Goodness, Teresa, you even have ME wanting to read the book, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU -- SO appreciate you reading and reviewing my books!!!

DANA ... and I would "LOVE" to have you read it too, so GOOD LUCK in this contest!
ReplyDeleteELYSSA ... LOL, you better, girlfriend, after OUR history together, right??? But don't wait too long -- I may be too old to enjoy it!! ;)
Hey, NOELA ... well, you'll have to "calm down" a wee bit first after reading Laura Frantz's MAGNIFICENT new novel Love's Reckoning, WHICH literally -- not joking here as I actually almost couldn't breathe at one part -- took my breath away. So once you've recovered from that book, pop a few tranquilizers and sit down with ALS because there may be one or two wee little surprises that just may snap you up in your seat. MAYBE ... ;)
ANNE, I totally agree -- almost reads like a novel itself, so GREAT job, Teresa!!
Hugs,
Julie

JULIE'S EXCERPTS
DEBRA!!! Man, you're just ALL over the place today, girl -- Seekerville (both blogs!!), FB, then here!! And you know what? Steven's story is actually is coming full circle from APMP, which is how I intended it to be. I wanted to end this saga with another Faith O'Connor-type heroine, so I created Annie and made Faith her mentor. Annie then becomes just like Faith in her passion for God in the center of her relationship with Steven, much to his angst ... at first!! ;) Hope you get a chance to read it and here's to a win!
Hugs,
Julie
SUE consider yourself entered...good luck on winning!

Do you realize just how AWFUL that would be loving you both as much as I do and NOT liking your work??? Instead, you two are two of my top fave authors along with top fave friends, so I am BLESSED!!! Thanks for coming by, girl. :)
Hugs,
Julie
EM (MY FAIR LADY -- LOVE that addy!!) ... here's hoping that all your hard work on these blog giveaways will pay off with a win!! GOOD LUCK!!

JACKIE!!! You're one of my "faves" too, darlin', and you know that. I'm pulling for you, my friend, so GOOD LUCK!!
Hugs,
Julie
I am reading this book and enjoying it immensely. One suggestion I have for Julie for when/if she writes the 3rd generation stories is to put a family tree in the front of the book. I can remember Patrick and Marcy's kids and who they are married to but sometimes forget their kids' names. This is a wonderful series; I hope it can continue.
ReplyDeletepmk56[at]sbcglobal[dot]net
LEAH!!! Me too -- "SO excited" for you to read it as well, so fingers crossed for a win and let's throw a few prayers in there too, okay? GOOD LUCK!!
ReplyDeleteJUDY, YES!!! And, Teresa, THANK YOU!! If you want to check out my very "passionate" style, head on over to the "Excerpts" tab of my website for a sample of my favorite romantic and spiritual scenes from each of my books. Here's the link and GOOD LUCK in the contest!
