Affirmations of God's Annointing: By Carrie Fancett Pagels

WORDS
Are
Powerful

Have you asked God to anoint you for your ministry in writing? Or any of your ministries.  Or any thing He has called YOU to do. Let’s say He has and you struggle with remembering that call.

Here are a few affirmations (words of encouragement for yourself--spoken aloud) for you to try:
God has anointed my writing (or whatever it is: mothering, business, marriage.)
He has anointed:
My blogs
Marriage
Children

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
He has called me to do things He will enable me to do.
I can speak words that God has called me to say and I can do it with His power.
He has given me work that will bring glory to Him.
I will encourage others and lift them up daily.
He has called me according to His purpose for my life.
Power, ability, efficiency, and might have been given to me through the Holy Spirit because of the anointing he has given me.
Words are powerful—my words can help change others’ lives for the better and draw them closer to God.
I speak and write in accordance to God’s will.
I can speak blessings into the lives of others and myself.
When I pray about something, I leave it with God and trust Him to take care of the matter.
My words are in agreement with my prayers.

Joyce Meyer has a new book about the power of words and is speaking on this topic. Her television show focused on her new book the week of Sept 10.

God had already been speaking to me, too, about the power of my words on my own walk.  In psychology we use affirmations to overcome negative self-talk. I pray that these affirmations, intended for Christians, will be helpful to your daily walk with God and in the resulting rewards you will reap for the Kingdom!

You will notice that many of my affirmations above include paraphrases of scripture.  Do you have any particular scriptures that speak to your heart, and if so, do you speak them aloud to yourself as a reminder?  Care to share?

Okay, I had to add this from Teresa Mathews, after her comment gave me Holy Ghost bumps:
This is a "reminder of the power of God's anointing in our lives. Isaiah 10:27 tells us "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." God's anointing will tear down any yoke of bondage in our life if we allow Him to do it!

And we also need to be mindful of the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21a "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." What a great reminder to watch what we say. I am up there with everyone else that mumbles and complains, but I am going to try to do better with what I confess with my mouth. I want my words to be a blessing to others and to myself. "

Thank you Teresa!

Giveaway:  We are giving away three copies of Laura Frantz's new release (or any of her books) in paperback or ebook this week. (Ebook only for international winners.) Leave your email address with your comment.

  1. I don't usually speak scripture aloud to myself, however, I'd think this is a good time to start. Sometimes, when we hear God's calling, we still may get discouraged when we're following His will because our ministries might not be taking off as much as we'd like. However, we need to remember that we're doing the Lord's work and God appreciates and loves us for the efforts we're putting forth to further his Kingdom.

  2. Thanks for you wise words, CECELIA! Hearing affirmations of God's promises can be really powerful. Try it this week and let me know what happens!

  3. You're so right CARRIE, there is SO much power in speaking out God's Word. And it's very faith-building as well. Thanks for the reminder, it's definitely something I need to do more of!

  4. Thank you, Carrie, for a beautiful post. We can travel through life with a positive outlook or a negative one. The circumstances haven't changed. It's the way we respond to events that's different.

  5. Great post, Carrie!
Romans 8:38-39 has helped me through many trials!

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  6. I know this is supposed to be a serious post, but most of my prayers about my words are along the lines of "Lord, don't let my tongue get me in trouble!" You know all those Scriptures about taming the tongue. I usually tell my sister that it is a bloody nub from biting it so hard :) I should practice more what Proverbs 17:28 says ~ Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.

  7. My favorites that I use continually are "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," and "By His stripes I was healed!" Wonderful post and a great reminder, Carrie! The Bible says our words can be a snare to us--likewise they can be used to bless us and others AND change lives!

  9. JANET, I am so glad you follow God's direction and are so encouraging to others!

  10. ANNE, that is what I have to say every time I leave the house!!! It seems where I live there are so many negative people. But then I pray that I can say something to encourage them. Doesn't always work--sometimes it is a rebuke someone needs to hear to get their behavior in check. But to be a conduit for God--that is something we should all strive for.

  11. DIANA, I am so grateful God brought us together. And it is so cool how He often speaks the same things to us at the same time. You are always such a great listener when I am bouncing ideas off of you--like for this post!

  12. CARRIE, I don't feel so bad now, knowing that you struggle with taming the tongue too ;) I really do try and watch what I say. There are times that you just KNOW God has put someone in your path and what you say better be from Him and not yourself. Those are totally cool moments!!!

  13. I am always speaking my life line verses out loud. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths.

I struggle with taming my tongue especially when I've been hurt. It seems I'm always repenting of this sin. I should learn to be slow to anger.

Thanks for this great post Carrie!

    Blessings!

  14. CARRIE thanks so much for this beautiful reminder of the power of God's anointing in our lives. Isaiah 10:27 tells us "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." 15. This is one of my favorite Bible verse's helps me alot knowing that God has it all under control and wants me to rest IN HIM .Matthew 11:28 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Would LOVE to win a copy Thank you ,Dana

  16. ANNE, Yes, I love those moments too--feels so cool. There is a reason why James is one of those books of the bible I've needed to read over and over. I have to say part of the issue for me is being from an area where many people said what they meant and meant what they said, which btw is pretty healthy. Direct and honest and hopefully not unkind.

  17. JUDY, yes I love that verse, too! And speaking it aloud makes it ring in my soul. Uh, yeah, about the frequent repentence--me, too! I am praying that God will keep improving me in this area and that I will cooperate. Thanks!

  18. TERESA, I want to copy part of your comment and add it to the post up there. Is that okay with you? I love that and I got Holy Ghost bumps from reading it!!!

  19. DANA, thank you! A good insight from your scripture verses is that many of us who get over-tired also find that is when we lose our control over our words. Blessings!

  20. there is indeed power in the spoken word. We forget that God created the whole visible world by his word, i.e. "let there be light. . ."
This is a valuable exercise I believe not only for strengthening the inner man, but also as a declaration to powers and principalities that the word tell us about. We call those things that are not as though they be, and exercise the authority He gives us over our domain.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks T!!! I did it!

KATHY, thank you--isn't it amazing that God did that? Yes, and we need to speak against the principalities of this world that would work against us to call His power into our life! Thank you!!!

  23. Romans 8:28 has become my life verse over the years: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose." When my grandpa passed away six years ago, God kept on speaking to me through this verse.
Lately God has been reminding me of Philippians 4:13- "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." It's a great reminder for this season in my life!
Thanks for the great giveaway! Laura's an amazing author!

I got the Holy Ghost bumps when I read TERESA'S comment, too, b/c I started to use that very same verse. wow! The one about death and life are in the power of the tongue...

  26. I have three main scriptures that I say to myself when I get a little stressed or nervous. I have a fear issue, so I need the Lord in my life more than ever! My scriptures are Psalm 27: 13-14, Deuteronomy 31:6 and 2 Timothy 1:7...of course then there's my absolute favorite one that I say when I can't understand what's happening around me. That would be 1 Peter 4: 12-13.

Thanks for the encouragement, Carrie! I'm not sure I know what my purpose in life is just yet...it's been a rough road for me. But I'm believing that God has soemthing for me! Thanks for the giveaway!

  31. Wow, LOOOOVE this post Carrie, wonderfully stated and sooooo important! I FELT my spirit come to life as I spoke those affirmations, thank you for this awesome reminder about our words that we need to cling to with the help of scripture! LOL to Anne's comments, so true :)

This scripture isn't really about spoken words, but it's on my computer and encourages me daily: Isaiah 43:1 summarized "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; You are mine."
Thanks also to Teresa for adding those delightful scriptures to this posting! Taming the tongue is a daily process, but what a joy it is to bring God the glory with our words!

Please don't enter me in the giveaway, just wanted to let you ladies know what a joy you are to your readers. Big time hugs and blessings!!

  32. KARA!!! That is exactly what we were going for! Our readers are a joy to us, too, and you have just blessed me!!! Okay, so I am gonna challenge you to speak that scripture aloud that you have on your computer but I want you to say it like this: I have nothing to fear-God has redeemed me. I am HIS!!! Big hugs back!!!

  33. SANDY, now take those verses and speak them in first person as an affirmation over your life! Blessings!

  34. I agree that it's so important what you say to yourself. I've been trying to convince my friend that she shouldn't be so negative and put herself down. I like the "If God is for us, who can be against us" and "God has not given us a spirit of fear." Thanks for the giveaway!

  35. Great verses, Veronica. And she can rephrase it to Since God is for me, who can stand against me. (of course meaning that it is God's will in what you are doing.) God has given me a spirit of peace and trust and power. We can speak His will into a situation.

  36. Carrie, I was good at quoteing scriptures and telling where they are for I had memorized so many. Now, I can remember most of what a lot of them say, but not be able to say where to find it. That is bad when you are talking to someone who doesn't know the Lord. My memory has gotten so bad, and I hate that. You girls have already quoted most of my favorites Phil. 4:13 where it says I can do all things through Christ which strenghthens me. I think of that one a lot now that are many things I can't do anymore. And, the Prov. 4;13 one about trusting in the Lord with all of you heart, soul, & mind. I also say some of the ones to myself a lot, telling us to not fear, after losing my husband. Have been reminding my oldest daughter of those since losing her husband (61) in Aug. for she was always scared at night, even when she was younger and he had to work the midnight shift. I have many times ask GOD to help me know I'm not alone, because He is with me. But, one I have never forgotten is John 3:16 I'd like to win one of Laura's books. Maxie ( mac262@me.com )

  37. One verse I find myself saying is found in Isaiah 41:10. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
I find this verse to be a real comfort in the nights when feel scared and alone.
