Redemption by Teresa Mathews

Redemption

She walked into the Church, her head bowed low
She was beaten down, stomped upon with no place else to go.

Men had taken advantage of a young beautiful innocent girl
Lured with dreams of forever love, from one to another she whirled.

Far from a lovely girl anymore she’d lived a sin-filled life,
Sin had taken its toll on her, a life so filled with strife.

She so wanted someone to love her, never to cower in fear again,
She wanted to feel that someone cared; she needed that one close friend.

She’d heard about this man named Jesus from someone in her past
But she’d lived her life without a care, and to her end she’d come at last.

That day she hear His voice, heard him calling out her name.
She heard him call her precious, heard him say “let me take your shame”

She ran to him with tears streaming down, into His outstretched arms
He told her “to me you are priceless and never again will you come to harm”.

PRICELESS?? How could this ever be?
This girl that lived a shameful life, thinking of no one, only me?

He told her “that no longer matters; it’s all been wiped away”
He said “for now my love, my darling, with me you always stay“.

“I’ll take you to my Palace and there you’ll be my Bride
You’ll always be my PRICELESS one forever at my side.”

Last week I was having a conversation with Diana about a sermon my brother, Steve Sharpe, preached a few weeks ago at our church. It was a beautiful sermon on how much God loves us and that we are priceless to him. Sometimes pastors are quick to preach “the do nots” and “the you can’ts” and “the you better not or God is gonna getcha”. Yes, it is true we have to repent of our sins but the Bible also teaches us that God loves us in spite of ourselves.

Ephesians 2:4-8 tells; “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

After thinking about this sermon, I was impressed to write this poem. I hope it touches someone and helps them realize that no matter where they are or where they have been in life; there is someone who loves them and is just waiting for them to run to Him. He will forgive their sins and will love them forever and He is just waiting to prove
YOU ARE PRICELESS TO HIM!

Ladies and gents, you are all priceless in the King's eyes, and don't ever let anyone make you feel as though you aren't!

  2. Thanks Diana, that was a sermon I don't think anyone will ever forget. July 23rd was 2 years since his accident, and I was talking with him last week about it and how I went in to see him while he was in a coma. I remember standing there talking to him and telling him "I know God is telling you wonderful things to say to us when you wake up!" WOW! What a true statement that was! GOD IS SO GOOD!

  4. Powerful and beautiful poem, Teresa! Sorry about the computer gremlins getting in there. But when we are sharing what God has put on our heart, His enemy can't stand it--especially when it could bring healing!

  17. Man may not forgive your sin, nor forget, or say, "Oh, I'd never do that..." But Our Jesus says, "Come unto Me alllllll ye who are heavy-laden and you will find rest for your soul." He loves us with an everlasting love. We are His.
