January 5th is my birthday. I am happy to celebrate another year of life granted by God and I thank Him for His blessings! This past year has been filled with so many blessings, and this blog has been one of them. I am so grateful for Diana Flowers, Senior Reviewer, and contributor who is amazing! We have had a number of friends post with us on Fridays, some very regularly sending us reviews, such as Marian Baay whose birthday we celebrated yesterday! And I am glad to welcome Teresa Mathews as a contributor, too!
We are all very happy to be able to read the wonderful books that Christian authors have had published this past year! They are like are like gifts in between birthdays!!!
GIVEAWAYS: Party bags will be going home with some of our commenters.
happy birthday, carrie.

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!!! I am SO glad to have gotten to know you this past year in the blogging world :) You are a sweet♥, Carrie! And that is a bee-u-ti-ful cake! I want a BIG piece since Diana informed me yesterday that there are NO calories ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Carrie. Wow, it is only 5:28 a.m. here in Indiana and when I saw that cake at the top of this blog I immediately started to drool!! I'm a sweet lover what can I say!
ReplyDeleteYou and Diana and other contributors have done a fantastic job keeping us informed on all the good books out there! Keep it up! You both have also been there for many of us while we have gone through trying times. Your prayers have been a blessing. I hope you both have felt our prayers when you have mentioned needing them. God is so good to bring such wonderful friends into our life!
God Bless!

Happy Birthday! May God bless everyday of your life. Your blog is an inspiration for my blog. Thank you! Again, Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, dear Carrie! You deserve the very best and I hope you get it today!
ReplyDeleteThis past year with Carrie on OTT has been wonderful; blessed with good friends, good books, and the presence of the Lord! What more could anyone ask for, except another year of the same!
Who wants to cut the cake for Carrie? Not I!! It's too gorgeous to cut into--think I'll just look at it for awhile.
Diana, Since you didn't want to cut the cake yet I ate some cherry cordial m&m's instead :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Carrie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Carrie. Gorgeous cake! Love you.
ReplyDeleteDina
My prayer for you is that you will have a year filled with joy and good health.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Birthday to you, Carrie
Janet
Happy Birthday dear Carrie! I hope this new year of life will bring you lots of blessings!
ReplyDeleteYou brought another beautiful cake. Almost too good to cut. I think I'll take a piece...
Happy Birthday Carrie! You're 12 days older than me. ;) Do something fun today and eat an extra piece of cake for me.
ReplyDeleteWelcome. KAREN , coffee?
ReplyDeleteANNE, yes there are 0 calories! How about your candy that I see you are passing around? Thanks! Tea?
ReplyDeleteLORI, so GLAD to see you over here and a nice birthday gift for me would be for you to get "the call" today. I would jump up and down!!!
ReplyDeleteDINA, thanks for coming to the party - you always make it so much fun! Love you right back!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Carrie, beautiful cake!

JANET, my roomie/CACW/CQ/Tidewater etc etc friend, so glad you are here! Thanks and I LOVED the Jackie Lawson card!!! Lemonade?
ReplyDeleteMARIAN, I want to put those adorable Dutch cupcake picks to use either today or tomorrow. Clark is going to help make Mommy a birthday cake. I don't care if it doesn't look like this one. I am putting yours on my Noritake china!
ReplyDeletePEGG, and the funny thing is that growing up in MI at the same time, we likely had very similar educational backgrounds. I do have some cow's milk or goat's milk today, any preference for your coffee or do you like it black?
ReplyDeleteJUDY - that is the point of OTT-WGH so I am glad you have felt that ministering from our Lord through our blog. DIANA and I prayed over this blog. In particular, when she came on board we both felt led that our focus on the interview testimonies of overcoming and the books with a deeper message were key to our blog ministry. And yes I have felt those blessings and prayers going up on our behalf. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteKATIE, I have juice and lemonade, too! Praying God blesses you at your young age and draws you in the direction He has planned for you!
ReplyDeleteDIANA, I do not have any sister-in-laws to go out with but my critique partner, Kim D. Taylor, and I are going out to lunch. My agent, Joyce Hart, was happy with how the first three chapters looked for this new manuscript so now it is full steam ahead on the edits! Happy birthday to me - I am going to do a little editing this morning and later today. It is a gift to myself!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Carrie! May God bless you with many more healthy, happy days. I can tell from reading all these posts that you have been a positive influence on a lot of people. You are an encouragement to me, and I appreciate it so much.
Carrie, I hope this is your best day ever! You're such a giver and your blog is such a bright spot, made even brighter with Diana and Teresa and others. So thankful you're here! Praying for you today and always,
ReplyDeleteLaura
Ah, a fondant cake, yes, look at it in all its glory, but I hated cutting them. I was the official cake cutter when I worked wedding banquets at a snazzy hotel. I could never make them look nice on the plate.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Carrie, even if it looks like a mess on your plate, it'll taste good I'm sure. Online cakes have no calories so that's a plus. Wait! I bet I'm much better at cutting an online fondant than a physical one. So I'll go ahead and carve it up if you want. :)
Happy Birthday Carrie, I hope this will be the best birthday you've ever had. I am so grateful the Lord caused our paths to cross. May He bless you beyond measure. :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you the happiest day and year, Carrie! You are such a dear, and special friend. Sending lots of hugs your way!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove & Blessings,
Carla
Happy, Happy Birthday! Who made your scrumptious looking cake???
ReplyDeleteLinda
Have a wonderful birthday, Carrie! I wish you nothing but the best in every day of your life.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Carrie!! I saw the announcement on HisWriters but didn't think to drop by here until Carla mentioned it. =) I hope you're having a GREAT day--and pass me some of that awesome-looking cake!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMELISSA - I made a fondant cake once and you are so RIGHT!!! Thanks SO much for cutting and serving this while I was out to lunch with Kim this afternoon. God bless you. And you really do look like my beautiful daughter. But you actually showed up, lol!
ReplyDeleteSUSAN, your book was a great gift to me. I know you and LAURA only wrote them for me lol. I will have sweet tea for both of you colonial Southern ladies!!! CARLA & LAURA - together those things sound like light therapy. Positive influence and bright spot, lol. That is something used to treat S.A.D. I know what you meant though!
ReplyDeleteOOPSIES that was SUSAN + LAURA = seasonal affective disorder light therapy treatment. CARLA is hug therapy, my absolute favoritest!!!Thanks CARLA for your wishes!
ReplyDeleteTERESA, We are so looking forward to having you join us in this blog ministry. Would you like some hot tea? Green or black tea?
ReplyDeleteLINDA, I hope you are not trying to get me in trouble, lol. I, um, borrowed the cake. It is truly beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteMAGS! Thanks for coming by my old roomie! Thanks for the blessing! Would you like some ice cream with that cake?
ReplyDeleteROSEANNA!!! I am glad CARLA gave that gentle prod in CACW, my fav group. I love HisWriters, too, but the colonial gals are an amazing group. I thank God for you all every day. Oh, and I wonder if JULIE L is still looking for a copy of your book. She needs to come by and see if it is in a goody bag lol!!! How many lumps of sugar, Roseanna? Looking for my silver sugar tongs right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, I require two lumps of sugar . . . and occasionally three. ;-) Many thanks to Melissa for cutting those complicated cakes! Fondant definitely looks way better in its uncut form, and thank heavens there's buttercream underneath for eating. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo clue if our gal Julie has Annapolis yet, LOL. Someone should drop her a little note . . .
Wonder if sweetie boy is gonna make my cake or not. This borrowed one is running out, thank goodness - I love having guests, especially virtual ones who are so very tidy, too!!! Thinking the next one up is chocolate. ROSEANNA, Miss Julie did not have one as of a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteOMIGOSH!!! I had NO idea it was one of my favorite people's birthday today until a little birdie (BLESS YOU, ROSEANNA!!) dropped a hint. I would have been SICK if I'd miss wishing you the best birthday ever, Carrie, because YOU have been such a blessing in my life. Authors meet an awful lot of people in this business, including other authors, bloggers and reader friends, but few impact them as much as you have impacted me. You have blessed me with your support, your wise counsel and your precious friendship, so my prayers and well wishes are with you today, you sweet thing, and may this be just the beginning of your best year yet!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and more hugs,
Julie
P.S. No, Roseanna, I have not gotten your book yet, but as God is my witness, it will be the next book I buy on Amazon unless I win it here today (prayers going up!!). You already know I love your work, so I knew the minute I read the blurb on this one, I was a goner. :)
And I have not ONE but TWO reviews of A Heart Revealed, lol, JULIE!!! They are both up in draft form waiting for posting. Kim and Teresa both got theirs to me within the past few days!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much JULIE for your blessings. My wise counsel sometimes includes the words "SAY NO!!!" LOL.
You will love Roseanna's book. And if you stick with paperback you will love the gorgeous cover, too!
Happy Happy Birthday Julie!!!!!!!!! I would have been here sooner, but had a Dr. appt. I have had so much fun with you this year, books, talking on FB and getting to help vote on your pictures!!!!!! you are just too fun!!!!!!! and that cake on top of this page.....oh yum........you tempt me! you touch people, you've touched my heart...thank you.....
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, dear Carrie! Your cake is divine! Many blessings to you today and may 2012 be an entire year worth celebrating!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy and Blessed Birthday Ms. Carrie! = ) Beautiful cake. Did you make it?
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm coming late to the party! The cake looks delicious. Happy Birthday Carrie!! Thank you for encouraging me to join this lovely group, and I pray the Lord rains down His blessings on you during the next year!! You are a true gem of a lady!

ReplyDeleteCarrie thank you ever so much for the tea! May I drop a few ice cubes in? Even in the winter us southerners love our iced tea! :) Oh my, this is such a grand party!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Carrie! That is a gorgeous cake; I am always awed by people who can decorate cakes like this. My cakes taste good but they sure don't look special! I hope you've had a lovely birthday.
ReplyDeletepmk56[at]sbcglobal[dot]net
CARLA we are looking forward to having you on OTT-WGH very soon! Coffee with your chocolate cupcake?
ReplyDeleteTAHIRI, LOURDES, and JEN - no that cake was borrowed. But our chocolate cupcakes are done. My son Clark made them and my husband Jeffrey frosted them with vanilla frosting!
ReplyDeleteMARYLU!!! So nice to see another Colonial Quiller over here! Carla offered to host a party for me on CQ but I felt a little shy about that. So instead we are over here on Overcoming Through Time = With God's Help. Diana had a birthday last week, Marian yesterday, and my crit partner Sarah has a birthday on Saturday so quite a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteLORI, ROBIN, and ASHLEY, I have diamond shaped cupcakes and tea ready. not as pretty as the cake but more tasty!
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet boy! Chocolate cupcakes are the best!!!
ReplyDeleteLORNA!!! Thanks so much for your blessing! That means a lot to me!!!
ReplyDeleteLYNN, I love that blessing! JEN, thanks for coming by! VIRGINIA, it is my birthday today but Julie was so sweet and posted it on her page. But thanks for coming by.
ReplyDeleteMELISSA and FAYE, I love having our faithful blog followers visiting with me for my birthday!
ReplyDeleteELAINE, another CQ contributor, yay!!! We so love having you on with us. Thanks for coming by. Tea?
ReplyDeleteANNE Payne, we all love you!!! We love your blog, too!!! You are such a blessing to all of us here at Overcoming Through Time! Hey, any of those candies left?
ReplyDeleteTERESA, yes, if you would help with the ice cubes in the tea that would be great! There is an entire tray in the kitchen. You are such a great helper! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePAULA and PAM, so good to see you both! My girlfriend Christy Zumbrun did not make this cake but she could have. She is amazing - has taken all kinds of classes on cake making. Our cupcakes were from a mix this time. But they taste good - would you like to try them?
ReplyDeleteNot sure why this comment got dropped but I got this notice in my email:

SUSAN STITCH, Not sure why that did not post, but you would probably like the Colonial Quills blog then and our authors. http://colonialquills.blogspot.com is the group blog for Colonial American Christian Writers. We have 15 of the 24 who post to Colonial Quills. Thanks JULIE, too, for sending SUSAN by!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! That cake is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeletemarissamehresman(at)aol(dot)com
I cannot take credit for it, unfortunately, MARISSA!
ReplyDeleteHey girl! So, what do you want for your birthday??????
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! We share the day, as I got married on January 5 just 27 years ago! :)
ReplyDeleteHope your day was a blessed one!
SARAH, I really wanted a request for the full MS for Soul's Journey - Escape from Versailles. Go to my FB wall and look where I posted about the "request" I got. I LOVE what my multi-published award winning friend sent to me, posing as a publishing professional. TOO FUNNY!!! Had an awesome day! Wish you could have been here!
ReplyDeleteSHERRINDA, my due date was Dec 21st so my poor mom delivered me 15 days after the due date. And I came breech. She is with the Lord now. One thing I miss again this year is our wonderful phone calls, esp. the one on my birthday. She is up there on the streets of gold. I AM wearing a gold shirt today, though, lol!
ReplyDeleteELAINE Cooper is one of the people who will get a goody bag. She is our 130th Follower, Diana!!! Thanks for coming by and thanks for the Follow, Elaine!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Elaine! Enjoy! Carrie, it seems like yesterday Joan won for being our 70th follower, and now we've almost doubled that! I LOVE our followers; they are simply the best!
ReplyDeleteWell, did hubs get you a rock for the other hand? lol! I hope your day has been as special as you are! I loved your full MS request by the way! Wish I would have thought of it. Too cute! :)
Happy Belated Birthday (almost midnight here on the east coast)
ReplyDeleteCarrie I am sooo sorry all day today I thought it was Julie's birthday because she had it on her fb, I'm sorry I didn't read it right. Happy Birthday....forgive me!!!!! please put it down to old age...MINE.....
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I would Ice Cream with that cake!!!
ReplyDeleteI just saw Julie Lessman's link to this blog on Facebook. Never been here before and I know I'm so late, but just wanted to say Happy Birthday!!!! Today was my birthday, too! Hope your day was very blessed!
ReplyDeleteI still have candy left :)
ReplyDeleteNatalie, happy birthday to you too! Hope you had a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I learned you forgot to put the Dutch picks in the cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to put them in my snacks too, but I couldn't find them. I had some left, because they didn't fit all in that envelope with the other stuff I sent to you. So I planned to use them for my birthday!
So we both didn't have the picks on our birthday.
That's also special, I think :))
Yum, breakfast of ANNE's candy and a poptart (an impulse purchase!) I put my picks in the cupcakes that are left MARIAN and I need to take a picture of them!!! They are so cute! MAGGIE, I hope you liked that ice cream - it was milk-free!
ReplyDeleteNo, DIANA, I am still gaga over my new ring in celebration of our upcoming 25th anniversary and he says he is embarrassed by how much I like it. He is so funny. So when he wrote that FB post I told him to say something nice about my ring! The pink roses he got me are fabulous and smell SOOOO good!
ReplyDeleteVIRGINIA and NATALIE, friend of Julie are awesome people! She is an amazing writer and wonderful person, such a sweet soul! How could anyone not love her to pieces? Thanks for coming by. Come back if you like to read about authors Overcoming Through Time With God's Help and their books!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Julie, I did have a goody bag for her, with (surprise!) a copy of LFY in Annapolis Maryland by Roseanna White!!! And I am about to do a random.org choice for a winner of one of Julie's books!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Carrie, my new friend. I hope the year ahead brings you many blessings. Have a great day and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful day, Carrie. I'm a little slow these days. Joyce
ReplyDeleteThanks LISA! I am SO GLAD you have joined us at Colonial American Christian Writers!!! And we are so excited about your book coming out. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteJOYCE! I pray you are feeling better. I bet CARLA is taking good care of you!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your picture of the cup cakes with Dutch picks in it :)
ReplyDeleteOr did you already eat them all? LOL
MARIAN, I took a picture of one and am planning on posting it on my critique partner's birthday post tomorrow here on Overcoming Through Time! May do a little cluster of them on a plate and take another picture!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm bringing in the tail end of this party, but better late then never, eh? A Birthday party, how fun!! And, Carrie, Happy (belated) Birthday! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks KATIE!!! Now I have to go back through the entire past week and make sure I take care of all the fun giveaways, too!!!
ReplyDelete
