Thank you to Diana who is a lovely historical romance reader from South Carolina. Diana is a beta reader and an influencer for several of my author friends. Welcome, Diana!
Fantastic read!!
The Lady in the Mist grabbed me from the first few pages. From the way the author describes the misty seaside setting to the description of the characters, it was so real that I felt as though I were watching a movie. This book is not about birthing babies, as much as it is about the history of our country, suspense, mystery, emotional turmoil, and of course, the chance of romance between two totally different men. I savored the book and read it slowly as I always do when reading a good book...and then it was a race to the finish to see how everything was going to play out! Thumbs up to Laurie Alice Eakes...we're going to be hearing a lot more of her in the days and years to come. I am ready for the next book in the series! You also can't beat the cover of the book as far as beauty and the power of attraction.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
Diana posted this review through Christian Book Distributors and graciously shared it with me.

"Not about birthing babies"... that's enough to snag my interest right there.

Hey, Pegg! Thanks for coming over! Since the book is The Midwife Series obviously there is that element in it, but what I meant by that remark is that there is just so much more to the book than that. Your comment tickled me, though, I have to say.:)
ReplyDeleteGood review! Thanks. Makes me want to read Lady in the Mist even more now.

Any book that begins with a seaside has my attention. I often look for this very thing in a review -- a story that takes place near the sea. Just my favorite place of all.
ReplyDeleteLaurie Alice tried to post a response but Blogger is not cooperating. She will try again later. Thank you all for your nice comments about Laurie Alice's latest book. We are looking forward to her arrival in Virginia in March!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Diana! I am about 1/3 done and really wish I was on the Virginia coast:) Hmmm...back to work...
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this.

Author here hopes you all will still get a copy even if you don't win. It's a special story to me on many levels and that others buy and like my baby still kind of amazes me.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not about birthing babies; it's about a midwife, not midwifery, though it has some babie births--two legged and four-legged.
I read a snippet of this book posted on line, and was hooked. Can't wait to read the "rest of the story." :)
ReplyDeleteOh, where did my comment go? ACK!!! Glad you got to post Laurie Alice. Good to see you here Lori B. Laura Frantz we must get you here to VA. sometime very soon. Coordinate it with one of your releases and we can do like we did for our very temporary Texan and have a book signing and a writers workshop. Plus CW!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to win this wonderful book. I have heard so many good comments about it. Can't wait!

Laurie Alice is an awesome author. I just can't say enough about her writing and all the research and knowledge that is behind each book.
ReplyDeleteIt would be very interesting to read about a midwife then! I am the daughter of a midwife...
