5 Stars *****

So Fair a Lady’ is a wonderfully rich, historical drama and romance set in 1773 during the few years before the American revolution. This harrowing journey into history that author Amber Perry so skillfully pens, is dripping with intrigue and suspense, and carries a thoroughly satisfying unpredictability from one page to the next!

Robert Campbell has long been a friend of the King’s soldiers, but when a dreadful disease took his life, Robert’s daughter Eliza took solace that he’d left her a personal letter to read. The words she thought would bring comfort however, increased her turmoil instead. Discovering her father was a spy and supporter of the Sons of Liberty has Eliza reeling and feeling very confused, but she is determined to follow through with her father’s advice, and search for the truth. And it is something she must keep from the dashing British officer, Captain Samuel Martin, who is deeply in love with her.

When the handsome press owner, Thomas Watson, suddenly finds himself a marked man by the Redcoats, and that the beautiful Eliza and her sister Kitty are also in grave danger, they flee together through the night. Thomas is intent on protecting the women, but can he safeguard his own heart as well as his life? Captain Samuel Martin is obsessed with Eliza and will stop at nothing to save his woman from her supposed kidnapper. Nor will he give up on his vow to make Thomas pay, not only for taking his beloved but also for his crimes against the Crown.

The reader will fully appreciate the vivid and dramatic depiction of the history within ‘So Fair a Lady’. The characters suited the era to perfection and all were effortlessly brought to life, including a favorite secondary character of mine - the suavely charming patriot Nathaniel Smith with his spirited sense of humor, heroics, and charisma! This engaging story also demonstrates that by embracing and sharing God’s truths-- we too can make a difference in the world. Thank you, Amber Perry, for this immensely memorable and enjoyable trek back in time. Highly recommended!

  10. What an enticing review, Noela!! You sure make a reader feel like this is a muct read book. I'll tell you, If you ladies don't stop writing such wonderful reviews and introducing me to so many wonderful new Christian authors, I will never get through my TBR list! Much less my dishes done :) Amber, I look forward to reading your story! Blessings from Texas!

    3. Thank you both! I certainly open my heart to receive those blessings! My precious husband has been doing almost all the cooking of late because I've been so busy on the computer. Our boys (the grandsons we're rearing are visiting other grandparents for the summer, so it's just he and I.) So I feel I must go load the dishwasher at the least :) And thank you, Amber for your kind words. I think the thing I love most about writing Christian fiction--after bringing God glory--is connecting with the other Christian writers. I absolutely love the community - y'all - and I pray the feeling is mutual - are like my family (I mean church family) sisters through Christ who I know will pray when I ask, who will celebrate success and encourage me when I get a rejection - - - as I try to do. Your premise is so interesting, Amber, and I can't wait to read So Fair A Lady. I LIKE that title. Don't we all want to be called 'So fair a lady'... Hugs from Texas!

    1. It really is a fantastic book MARY!!

Absolutely Mary. I was just reading that there are at least 20.9 people around the world that are in slavery. That's just shocking... it's a much bigger problem than most of us realize!

    2. Mary!!! I couldn't agree more about slavery today--it is so prevalent and too many people don't know anything about it. I am so grateful you are strong for that cause!

  15. A social issue I feel strongly about is adoption. I feel like there needs to be more pro-adoption public sentiment than pro-choice. It's so disturbing that on the Planned Parenthood website it implies that adoption will leave lifelong emotional scars while abortion will not.

I'd love to win a print copy of Amber's book- I read the e-book and just loved it!!!

    1. I know what you mean HEIDI, I have it on my Kindle too but it's the favorites I love to get in print as well! :-)
There should definitely be way more positive talk about the options of adoption to those who have unwanted pregnancies. I didn't know the Planned Parenthood implies that on their website. I'm really just shocked at that, and disgusted. How sad that they would discourage adoption just so that more kill their baby..

      Delete
    2. Heidi!! I TOTALLY agree with you!! I LOVE adoption as we have a lot of it in my family and I've seen how it can bless so many people. I too an literally sick to my stomach at PP for their terrible stand. It just sickens me!! Thanks again to you, Heidi for your lovely review of SFAL! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can get a paper copy!!! HUGS TO YOU, HEIDI!!

    2. LeAnne!! I COMPLETELY agree--our country needs to remember what it was founded on and the values and principles that made America great. Thank you for sharing that!! I have ALWAYS loved the Revolutionary era. I think it stems from the fact that I have ancestors that fought in the Revolution and in every major American war through history up to today. I love the passion and courage the people had--they were willing to get up everything for freedom and I admire that so much. What a FABULOUS question, LeAnne, I really appreciate that, thank you!!! Good luck in the drawing!

  24. Hello Noela. great review as expected. And hello Amber. Sounds like your book will be a success with the OWG loving it. That is a great endorsement for your book. I would love to win one. I believe there are many who want God back in America and for it to be back to following our Constitution. But, I do think way too many christians waited much too long to stand up for God just because of standing for their party, even when it is going against the Bible. God bless all of you.
Please pray for healing for me. Severe sprained wrist and severe giant size bruise with huge knot which hasn't gone down or faded for 10 days. Bad fall. Thanks. Maxie.
