The really fun part of reading this novella was that
I took Laurie Alice around Colonial Williamsburg, with Gina Welborn, last year when she
interviewed the printer there.
Laurie Alice is blind but the reader would never
know that reading her work. She gives great details.

This novella is yet another example of this
author’s ability to pack a shorter book (in this case a novella) with unbelievable details
without sacrificing the integrity of the story.

Wow, I can't believe that it is only a year ago that those pictures were taken. It seems much longer. We had great weather at CW that day, too.

ReplyDeleteWENDY, this one is a novella in a collection of four. This book is a GREAT value. All the stories are well done and as I have said elsewhere there should be at least one ACFW Carol nomination out of this collection.

JSQUIRES, Yes indeedy, although Laurie Alice did have partial eyesight up to age nineteen she is blind. Which makes her writing all the more amazing.

ReplyDeleteI've kind of been billed aas a Regency author, and the first book I ever tried to write when I was about ten, was a colonial. American REvolution to be precise. I even went to Boston and Philadelphia in 1976 and the tour guides let me behind the ropes to touch a lot of things my full sighted classmates didn't get to touch like the Liberty Bell. That was a special moment indullibly printed on my heart.

ReplyDeleteSUE, I loved Lady in the Mist. It made it into my top ten list of 2011. The cover was fabulous, too! I have a Lady in the Mist coffee cup from Laurie Alice that I love so much she replaced it for me when the first one fell off the counter and cracked. And the hero in that story - hot flash city, lol!
