Carrie Fancett Pagels' Review of Printed on My Heart by Laurie Alice Eakes

We are deviating from our normal format this week - Laurie Alice Eakes week here on Overcoming Through Time - With God's Help.  A brief interview and commentary will be up next Saturday. We begin the week with a review of Laurie Alice's contribution to a wonderful four novella compendium that recently released.

Highland Crossings
By: Laurie Alice Eakes, Pamela Griffin, Jennifer Hudson Taylor, and Gina Welborn
(Barbour Publishing, 2012)

Highland Crossing is a four-novella collection of Scottish immigrants, centered around an heirloom brooch.

1758 - Printed on My Heart, By Laurie Alice Eakes
Stacks of paper at Colonial Williamsburg

This is the second novella in the series.
Laurie Alice Eakes and Gina Welborn

The really fun part of reading this novella was that I took Laurie Alice around Colonial Williamsburg, with Gina Welborn, last year when she interviewed the printer there.

Laurie Alice is blind but the reader would never know that reading her work. She gives great details.

This novella is yet another example of this author’s ability to pack a shorter book (in this case a novella) with unbelievable details without sacrificing the integrity of the story.

And what a lovely romance! Laurie Alice has you loving poor Fiona and her hero Owain before you can say “I do”!!!

Laurie Alice's books can be found on Amazon, as well as CBD, and other book stores.

GIVEAWAY:  Leave a comment and your email to be entered in this week’s contest.  Drawing will be late Saturday.  Your choice of Laurie Alice Eakes' books, choice of format.

  6. Wow, I can't believe that it is only a year ago that those pictures were taken. It seems much longer. We had great weather at CW that day, too.

  7. MARIAN and DIANA I haven't really figured out too well how to save and organize pictures. It sure takes a lot of time, which I don't usually have.

  8. WENDY, this one is a novella in a collection of four. This book is a GREAT value. All the stories are well done and as I have said elsewhere there should be at least one ACFW Carol nomination out of this collection.

  12. Thank you all for stopping by. And thank you, Carrie, for featuring me this week. It is difficult to think my trip to VA was a year ago. It's been quite an eventful year.

    God has been faithful.

You can read excerpts from my books on my web site. I know excerpts help me to decide what to buy. Enjoy.

  13. MARISSA, she has won awards for her writing. Like Laurie Alice said, you might want to go by her web site - hover your cursor over her name in the blog post and the link will take you there.

  15. JSQUIRES, Yes indeedy, although Laurie Alice did have partial eyesight up to age nineteen she is blind. Which makes her writing all the more amazing.

  16. Thank you, Sue. So glad you liked Lady in the Mist. My most recent full-length novel release is Phoebe's story.

I've kind of been billed aas a Regency author, and the first book I ever tried to write when I was about ten, was a colonial. American REvolution to be precise. I even went to Boston and Philadelphia in 1976 and the tour guides let me behind the ropes to touch a lot of things my full sighted classmates didn't get to touch like the Liberty Bell. That was a special moment indullibly printed on my heart.

  19. SUE, I loved Lady in the Mist. It made it into my top ten list of 2011. The cover was fabulous, too! I have a Lady in the Mist coffee cup from Laurie Alice that I love so much she replaced it for me when the first one fell off the counter and cracked. And the hero in that story - hot flash city, lol!

  27. JULIE LESSMAN, I hobbled along behind Gina and Laurie Alice (and Nick!). They are faster than my usual 9-year-old colonial boy who accompanies me on my research trips over there. It is great that CW is SO close. Love it!
