Happy Father's Day Dad
You worked hard
to keep us clothed and fed
You taught us
the right way by the life you led.
You read your
Bible and soaked up every word
You listened to
the Pastor and believed what you heard.
You shaped me
into what I am today,
Because of your
willingness to fast and pray.
You truly were a
man of God in doing what was right,
Your life was
like a beacon shining out God's light.
I can still hear
your voice singing slightly off key,
"You Are My
Sunshine" to the other kids and me.
I still can hear
your laughter as you would tell a joke
I still hold
dear the poems that you wrote.
You were the
greatest dad there could ever be,
And I am forever
grateful that you were there for me.

My dad was a wonderful man of God. When we were kids if any of us got sick, he would come and pray for us and before he could say amen, we were feeling 100% better.
When he read his Bible he believed every word. Some of his favorite scriptures were found in the third chapter of Malachi starting with verse 8; Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Daddy loved to quote this scripture and then add his interpretation; "If you shovel it out, God will shovel it in and His shovel is a whole lot bigger than ours." It was very simple to him, if God said it, that was the end of the discussion. What a mighty man of God, what a heritage our family has.

Thank you daddy for showing me by example how to live for the Lord.

DeleteYour dad sounds like a special man, Teresa! I've enjoyed the stories about him that you have shared over the years. I imagine he and Carlton are enjoying being in God's presence and I'm sure the Lord told them both, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Hugs!
ReplyDeleteCARRIE I believe you are right, they are having the time of their life.
