It used to be difficult for me to talk about my childhood, but I came to realize that there was a reason for it -- I can not only empathize with others who are going through or have gone through similar things, but I can offer encouragement either personally or through characters in my novels. I can't tell you how many times I have been reading a book and was struck by the thought "someone else felt this same feeling; I'm not alone." That's what I want my readers to experience.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8713519582170578996.post-70533341822516412162012-01-02T10:11:50.458-05:002012-01-02T10:11:50.458-05:00Susan, you and I have alot more in common than liv...Susan, you and I have alot more in common than living in the same town, I see. I am also the adult child of an alcoholic, but didn't have the outlets that I'm so glad you had. My outlet was school, and while the other kids seemed to hate it, and loved school vacations, it was my getaway. My dad seldom let us do anything, so we were stuck at home, and were abused in about every way you can think of. But God in His grace saved me, and I am the person I am today (although I strive to be a better one) because of His goodness. I talked to my unsaved brother the other night long-distance and sadly he is such a mess. Please pray for him...at least he isn't on drugs, but he just can't find deliverance, for he is looking for the wrong source.

Now on to brighter things! I told Carrie when I read The Chamomile that you were the smartest lady and there wasn't anything you didn't know about the Colonial era! I was so impressed with that! I knew Carrie would love all that Colonial talk and I was right! LOL! Thank you Susan and Carrie, for the interesting interview.Diana Flowershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17127629740742628849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8713519582170578996.post-82420982276593039042012-01-02T10:10:43.786-05:002012-01-02T10:10:43.786-05:00Susan's book is one I plan to search through a...Susan's book is one I plan to search through again for all those little nuggets.
