How Does She Do It? Beverly Lewis on Tour & Giveaway

How does she do it? Last year, I'd read a blog post that described how Beverly did her tours (I think maybe her agent posted it) and I was floored. They said Beverly Lewis had several book signings a day across multiple cities and states! WHAT?!!! I can barely manage a single book signing, one location, for a couple of hours! I figured she must have supernatural assistance from the Holy Spirit to manage this. I still do think that. Because -- guess what -- she had another tour this year that came through my area.

So when I checked out the new tour schedule, I asked my friend, Anne Payne, "How does she do it?" Because I just couldn't imagine.  We went to see Beverly Lewis at the Newport News Lifeway store. You can check out the schedule here: Click here.
Authors Carrie Fancett Pagels and Beverly Lewis

NINETEEN events across Virginia and North Carolina in ONE WEEK!!! When I got my chance to speak with Beverly, who was very kind and is even prettier in person, I didn't ask her about how she got her stamina. I feel pretty certain God alone, along with the Holy Spirit, and Jesus, keep her going.

God put a lovely Personal Assistant alongside her, who helped Beverly with the event. She even took our picture, left.  She took pictures for readers throughout the event. What a blessing!

The novel being promoted is The Ebb Tide. You still have a chance to catch Beverly on this booksigning tour, which will be going on through Good Friday, with the last event in Cary, North Carolina. You can purchase a copy of The Ebb Tide at Lifeway stores, at Barnes & Noble, Christian Book Distributors, at independent Christian bookstores, and online at Amazon. The Ebb Tide is available in multiple formats, including audiobook, as well as paperback, hardcover, large print, and ebook.

The Ebb Tide by Beverly Lewis
A new reader friend I met in the (long!) line, held my book for me -- see right. These book signing events are an encouragement to readers who love Beverly's books. And since what she writes, is God-honoring, should I be surprised that she can keep that schedule? Yes, I still am -- and I still think its amazing that she can do that. It's a God thing for sure!

Giveaway: For a chance to win a SIGNED copy of The Ebb Tide by Beverly Lewis answer this question: When has God given you supernatural energy or stamina to accomplish what He has planned for you to do?

  1. CARRIE, I was so excited when I saw the picture of you taken with Mrs. Lewis. What an amazing lady she must be. That was wonderful that you and Anne got to meet her!

I don't think I have to tell you anything about what GOD has gotten me through and how He has continued to bless me every day, as you and all our friends on OWG have been there with me. GOD has been so good to me I will never be able to praise Him enough! :-)

  6. I can't think of one particular event that God has given me supernatural powers or stamina to get through. Because he's beside me through everything all my days. And believe me there's been many days I'm not sure how I got through them. But I sure would love to win this book. Thank you for your generosity.

What has God helped carry me through? Hmm...like others said, there have been a lot. One would be the way he carried me through my surgeries & treatments for breast cancer 22+ years ago--which just reminded me--thru all the craziness of helping my husband through his spine issues and surgery last Tue. (Yes, that is probably the most recent time he has carried us through) I just realized I forgot my mammogram appt on Fri! Add one more thing to that Monday 'To Do List'--reschedule mammogram. Oopsie!
I would love to win this book! to everyone at OWG!

  8. Carrie, I am so thrilled you got to meet Beverly Lewis. She seems like such a peaceful, genteel lady, and I can't imagine her scurrying to so many places in such a short amount of time. Especially after writing the long, detailed books that she writes. She looks so refreshed! Beverly Lewis certainly doesn't need to publicize her books so she must love what she does -- meeting and talking with her many fans. Please don't enter me as I have a copy on its way to my humble abode. :)

  13. A couple of summers ago, I had been asked to do VBS for 4 & 5 year olds (first time VBS teacher). It meant getting lessons together and crafts figured out and put together for 25-30 kids. I was not just handed a packet of materials and told, "here, teach this." My mom had dementia and I had just gotten a call that she needed a 24 hr care giver as she had started to leave the facility she was in. So until we could find another place for her, I needed to be with her as much as possible and get her settled into a new place. And we were getting ready to leave on vacation the afternoon VBS was done. It was probably the most stressful 2 weeks of my life. But God gave me strength to get thru it and also my lovely daughter came along side and helped me so much. I'm sure there were a number of other times God has given me strength but that is the most memorable of late! I can't wait to read Beverly's new book! Love her books!

  14. God gave me strength and grace to do my Dad's eulogy when he passed away. God filled our family home with love and faith that others felt while visiting us during those final weeks, which dad's minister mentioned during his Memorial Service. Psalms 121 was one of the promises our mother claimed and definitely saw her through. Proverbs 3:5-6 and Isaish 41:10 are some of my favorite promises along with the Joy of the Lord is my strength when I'm weary. God bless you. I've read so many of Beverly Lewis' books and they are filled with God's love and greatness.

  16. You two look so cute in that picture!!

I'm not sure that I've been given incredible stamina. At the time, I just kept going because it was what needed to be done. Two years ago, my husband almost died in a work accident. He was in the hospital for three months. I would get up every morning, get our daughter off to school, and go to the hospital afterwards. Then I'd leave the hospital in the afternoon, pick up our daughter from school, and go back to the hospital until a half hour before bedtime. Eventually, that got to be too much, so I would only take our daughter to see her dad every other night. We'd still spend weekends together, though. Our daughter was such a trooper through it all. She spent a lot of time watching TV, building Lego sets with her dad, or reading.

One thing I can say for sure is that the power of prayer is real. I received a priesthood blessing while my husband was in surgery that first night. We also had thousands of people praying for us. At the time, everyone couldn't believe how calm I was about the situation. I can honestly say that it wasn't my doing. God definitely sent His Comforter to be with us.

    1. KAREN, isn't that presence of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, an amazing thing during those horrible times? I had the same thing happen when my mother was dying and then died. I felt the prayer covering of those lifting us up and I felt the strong presence of Peace from the Holy Spirit. And I felt so amazed, so awed, that God would do that for me. And it made me trust Him even more.

  24. Just recently because we purchased a house and moved into said house 3 weeks ago! My energy level was at an all-time high, lol! It was only God who could sustain me as I tend to tire easily these days. But now that we're finally settling in, I think I'm finally coming off that high :-) I'm enjoying the new house, getting back into my routine and catching up with my online life again. Feels good!

Beverly Lewis was the first author I discovered when I went looking for Christian books. I've read just about all her earlier books where I "met" the Amish lifestyle and lovely characters. From there, I discovered many more Amish writers. Beverly holds a special place in my heart, though, as she was my first author :-) I would love to live close enough to go to a book signing of hers, but alas I live WAY over on the West coast (Oregon). *Sigh* Maybe one day, one can dream 'eh?

Thanks for the giveaway chance! I've just seen this circulating on the web and am excited for the new novel!

  25. He was with me when I took care of my mom. I had a very violent childhood . My parents always told me I was ugly, stupid, would never amount to anything and they did not love me. But when my mom became ill, God showed me how to forgive and to be there for my mom until she passed. He reminded me of the scripture to honor thy mother and father. Reading has always been my escape for me and I remember picking up one of Beverly's books one day. Her story swept me away and lulled me with sweet words. I became a huge fan that day.

  26. When my dad was very ill and mom wasn't doing well either 50 miles from where I live and my husbands health was gradually worse I spent a lot of time going back and forth and trying to keep two households going. It was a rough two years, then my hubby's health got even worse but my parents health improved somewhat. It was about a year before my husband passed away. He is still giving me enough strength to get through each day. fishingjan(at)aol(dot)com

  27. We are looking for a new church home and live in a very liberal area. We were fearful of not finding a good Bible based church. We have been blessed to find MANY churches with solid Biblical foundations. Now it's up to use to find the one that He would have us to join. Right now we are attending a large church, which is something we didn't think would work for us. We've been there for 2 months now and just got back from a dynamic music presentation with with a solid message. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity. Merry Christmas!
