Noela reviews SO RARE A GIFT by Amber Lynn Perry

So Rare a Gift

5 Stars *****

The privileged reader of ‘So Rare a Gift’ will find themselves swept up in this unforgettable tale of valor and zeal, secrets and lies, and deadly revenge. A romance intensely heartfelt and tender amongst the angst, somehow softens the birth pangs of a young America as tensions and skirmishes escalate prior to the War of Independence. But the conflict is all too close to home and heart in this stunning novel.

Fleeing another loveless marriage that’s to be forced upon her, Anna Rone escapes to America with plans to seek out the truth behind her beloved brother’s death. Trouble follows her from England however, and Anna finds it necessary to marry a man she’s known for but a few days, that she may find security in this new land. For someone who’d vowed to marry only for love next time, she enters into this union fearful but hanging onto the glimmer of hope her new husband is truly a kind man.

Captain Henry Donaldson is hunted by the British army for helping the colonists. One man in particular is especially intent on his demise and will go to any lengths to see that happen. Henry’s patriot friends in Sandwich recommend he marry to blend in further to the community, and so with the agreement of Anna, the lovely but mysterious woman he rescued recently, he weds her. Keeping his past a secret from Anna and everyone except his closest friends, he goes by the name of William. Having been deeply betrayed by a woman he once loved, he silently vows to keep his heart protected. With so many secrets already between them, will they ever find the love and trust they desire? Or will their troubled pasts catch up to them, destroying what might have been?

Plentiful in beautiful prose from beginning to end, the ink in author Amber Lynn Perry’s pen surely has been dipped in ingenuity—gifting the reader with exquisite writing and a sublime reading experience. ‘So Rare a Gift’ is a gift indeed—thrilling, passionate, exceptionally written, and with a timely message of not bowing to our fears. Highly recommended!

  18. Fab review, NOELA!!! Really. Your reviews just get better and better. You have an extraordinary gift with words. I adore all the covers in this series. I'm not putting my name in the hat because it's an ebook. I have too many of those already and find that I don't read them like I would a 'real' book in my hands.

    1. Good news, Anne... It will be coming out in paperback soon I believe! I have way too many on my Kindle too, but I'm a bit of a hoarder of books I fear. ;) Anne, thanks so much for your kind words. I give all thanks to God though as He helps so much!! Bless you!!

    2. Hello, Anne!!! How much fun! I *LOVE* to see you here! Yes, it will be in paperback. It's been taking *a lot* longer than I'd wanted (such a bummer!!) but it will be available soon, and when it is I promise to let everyone know! Thank you SO much!! Have a wonderful day! <3

  19. I hated history where we JUST learned dates, and what happened, etc.! You could say it wasn't very mind-grabbing. I picked up a similar to this book about the civil war and I was drawn in that I wanted to check out some of the facts presented in the book. I am sorry to say I haven't read a book by Amber Perry but I would love to read this one!

    1. Louise, I know exactly what you mean!! I've learnt so much more than I ever did in school by reading historical fiction, because I also do the same as you! :) I truly hope you get to read this book, actually even this series by Amber, because it's history content about the Revolution War is absolutely fascinating! And the stories, sublime!

    2. Louise!! Bless you for stopping by and for your insightful comment! Yes, I know what you mean--if history isn't presented well it can be boring! I do hope to bring America's incredible history to life in these stories (along with rich romance!!) so that readers will perhaps learn something they didn't know before. I hope you'll be able to give these books a try some day! Many, many thanks!!

  20. NOELA, I enjoyed your exquisite review! Historical fiction has a way of making history come alive. So much better than reading from a textbook or listening to a teacher.

Amber's Daughters of His Kingdom series sounds incredible. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for the chance.
