(Revised!) Audiobooks of the Year List by Carrie Fancett Pagels

Whispers In The Reading Room AND The Painter's Daughter, TIED for Audiobook of the Year 2015 -- Stellar stories combined with wonderful narration. I had quite the conundrum because I had listened to Julie's book in 2015 and chose it for Audiobook of 2015 BUT then I listened to Shelley's book in January, but it released in 2015 and after much prayer I decided they were both tied.  That being said, the audiobooks that I include on my list are of such HIGH quality that it truly was hard to put them in order -- so next year I might not!!!
Audiobooks of the Year

Bibliotherapy Audiobook of the Year (Includes strong bibliotherapy elements as well as a wonderful book and narration.)
Until the Dawn by Elizabeth Camden

Most Romantic Audiobook

The Lost Heiress by Roseanna M. White
The Lost Heiress (Ladies of the Manor, Book #1)

Best Final Audiobook in a Series

A Refuge at Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky

Highly Memorable Audiobook of the Year

Pattern for Romance by Carla Olson Gade

Contemporary Audiobook of the Year

A Healing Heart by Angela Breidenbach

Favorite Series on Audiobook 2015: Tracie Peterson's Bride's of Seattle (I am finishing the third book now.) All released in 2015 on audiobook.

(I accidentally left off Melanie Dickerson's and Kristi Ann Hunter's audiobooks in my original post  - these are both beautifully done audiobooks. I highly recommend and hope to post reviews of both very soon!!!)

My Backlist audiobook Series of the Year is by Jane Perrine: Tales from Butternut Creek! All wonderful!!! These released in 2012 and 2013 and are Women's Fiction with strong romantic

NOTE: I will have some books, available in audiobook, that I read rather than listened to, that are on my NEXT list, which release within the week! So if you are an author I love and weren't on here but have an audiobook, watch for those I read rather than listened to!

GIVEAWAY: Audiobook certificate for a book OR winner's choice of format.  Answer these questions: How many of these books were on your favorites list and which format do you prefer your books in - audiobook, Kindle, or paperback?  (Watch for my upcoming Kindle/paperback list of favorite books of the year, coming soon!)

  1. I have several of these books on my reading list and have now added the rest.

I still prefer to read a hard copy.

  3. I can't believe that I haven't read any of these titles yet, although there are a few that aren't in my genre preference. I will be starting The Lost Heiress soon and just received a paperback of Julie Klassen's, The Painter's Daughter, in the mail, yesterday. The Painter's Daughter is a MUST READ for me.

I like reading books on my kindle and as softcover's. Digital books are one of the best inventions ever and it prevents the physical hoarding of books. Which would be an issue for me if not for my Kindle. :) I only listen to audiobooks when I am in the car on trips longer than 30 minutes. I tend to read faster than most audiobook readers and increasing the tempo makes them sound like a chipmunk. Although, I need to get in the habit of having an audiobook ready when I am cleaning or working outside. I hear that is very effective in making the time go by.

  4. I have The Painter's Daughter ready to read on my Kindle. I have read the 3 books by Tracie Peterson. I am very anxious to read Until the Dawn. I prefer Kindle reading as it is easier on arthritic wrists! Am an avid reader; 5 already this year.

    1. Totally agree Jackie about Kindle way better for arthritic wrists than a paperback!!! I think I have had 3 or 4 audiobooks so far this year but I went through a book drought.

  5. A great list, CARRIE! There were so many wonderful novels in 2015, and many I just didn't get the chance to read that I would have liked to for one reason or another. :( But I have read all of the authors you mentioned above save a couple, and they are extraordinary! Thanks for sharing your faves with us!

I so love my Kindle, but there are some books I prefer reading in paperback b/c I love looking at their lovely covers sitting on my table!

  6. I think it's awesome you have this list of favorite audiobooks Carrie, for those who like or need to listen than read! And for this reader, I'm looking forward to reading all those books when I get a chance!! Except for The Lost Heiress... Read that already and absolutely loved it.

  8. I'm a bit of an oddball. I got the Kindle editions of 'The Lost Heiress' and 'The Painter's Daughter' through Netgalley- but I also got the audible audiobooks so I could listen to them at work when cleaning, when I could not read.

With most titles I have to have e-books as I am outside the US, and most publishers wont sent paperback review copies (for reasons I entirely understand).

    1. Me, too! I'll ask for NetGalley to send me the PDF version but then IF I can get something on audiobook in a reasonable amount of time I'll get that. But I don't normally combine the reading like you do. Once in a while I will! I've done that with some books I couldn't listen to (like in the car with my family). Thanks for coming by!

  9. I read The Lost Heiress (agree with the most romantic!) and A Refuge at Highland Hall. Both made my Top 10 2015 list. I'm a big fan of Shelley's Amish fiction and was excited to hear she branched out into suspense. That's one book I would love to read, especially in audio form. I usually get PBs but I have a lot of Kindle books because sometimes it is the quickest way to get a book, or it's free. :)

    1. Anne, I bet you would love this book on audiobook. I may even listen to Shelley's Whispers in the Reading Room again as it was that good plus it is in my same time frame as one of my series and it puts me back in story world rather quickly, like going to Chicago from my story world in Michigan!

    2. I would like to start listening to more audio books. That way, I can multi-task. :)

  10. Love your list Carrie! The Painter's Daughter is still one I need to get but definitely on my TBR priority list. Read Tracie's series, Whispers in the Reading Room and Until the Dawn. All amazing. I have The Lost Heiress physically sitting pretty waiting to be picked up (very soon), but I'm sure I'll love it with all y'all's endorsements. I'll be adding the rest ofyour list to my TBR list for sure.

Personally prefer physical copies than digital ones. I love the feel and smell of books. For audiobooks, I've only tried two and though I did enjoyed it, I find that I can't seem to concentrate on the story as I would've a book. My next goal to attempt is to get the audiobook and a copy of the book and read along and see how I feel about it.

Thanks for sharing your list with us and the giveaway. I look forward to your fave reading list. Annie

  13. I prefer paperback books, but I love my Kindle, too. I haven't tried audio books simply because I think I would get too distracted and have to constantly go back and listen to what I missed.

  14. Thanks for the great book list, Carrie - some of the books I have, others are on my TBR list. Just wish I had more hours in the day - so I could read more books, lol!! My fave format is paperback or hardback, and probably always will be - however, Kindle is handy when I am waiting at the doctor's office, etc.. Although my mind tends to wander with audiobooks, I do have to concentrate on them - so they aren't helpful while working. However - they are good for road trips.

I prefer paperback as I don't commute anymore, which is when I used to listen to my audiobooks, daily

  24. Hi Carrie, I listened to The Painter's Daughter, and I read the Lost Heiress. I like to read paperback and listen to audio books. Right now I'm listening to Jane Eyre. Charlotte Bronte has such a beautiful way with words!

  25. I haven't read any of these books yet. I'm so behind! I prefer hardback/paperback format for normal "around the house" reading. I prefer my Kindle for when I'm leaving the house for appointments and also for when I go out of town. I love audiobooks in the car and also when I am walking outside or on the treadmill. Right now, I am catching up on some older hard copies, which is why I haven't read any of the newest books.
