Five Stars *****

When the staid, but handsome, young Dr. Kelly arrives in town it is woefully apparent to Ruby that the poor man has no idea what he is in for, with a Colorado winter! And he certainly doesn't understand the wonderful function that skis can serve in getting around in such a snowy location. As far as her one true love--ski jumping--that is something she and he will never see eye-to-eye on. Or will they? Read this delightful novella to see!!!

The first six novellas in this collection are also now available for purchase and include stories from T.i. Lowe, Cynthia Hickey, Janice Thompson, Darlene Franklin, and Debbie Mayne as well as Niki Turner's wonderful story!

GIVEAWAY: An ebook copy to one of our readers, of The Skiing Suitor by Niki Turner! Answer this question: What is your favorite winter sport and why?

  2. Enjoyed your review Carrie. This sounds interesting.
As to your question about winter sports....I am not a sports fan or participate at all. But I do like to watch it snow curled up on the couch with hot herbal tea...or hot chocolate...and a good book.

  3. Hi Carrie, and Pam, and Tina!
Thank you, Carrie, for the lovely review!
I am not a winter sports fan, either. My parents have a old 8mm film reel circa 1973 of me standing in the middle of a trail with my tiny little cross country skis on, screaming my head off. I think I was about 3. Downhill skiing and ice skating didn't fare much better... :)
Pam, I'm going to have to try that Wii Fit! No wind in my face might just make it all better!
    Blessings!!!

  5. CARRIE, thank you for the lovely review! Since I live in South Texas, we don't get much winter. I usually watch college football, read and enjoy a cuppa herbal tea. NIKI, your book sounds wonderful! I can't wait to read it.

    1. In Virginia, we have snow at times, and the sport is managing to keep your walk shoveled and salted and not go falling because all the salt has sold out at the stores!

  8. Thanks for the review, Carrie - 'The Skiing Suitor sounds like such a cute story, can't wait to read all the stories in this collection!!

As for fave winter sport - it would surely have to be along the lines of Pam's Wii Fit, viewing either figure skating on TV with Diana, or the snow from a couch (along with that hot tea and a book) with Tina. I've been accident-prone since childhood and have enough "adventures" to fill a book, lol. A fave is having roller skates cut off me when as a pre-teen on an outing with a church group - someone ran into my friend (who was teaching me to skate) and I, knocking us both down and our skates locking together.

    1. Bonnie, you and I could compare stories! We were required to take downhill skiing for P.E. class in junior high. I was in the "remedial" group. My partner and I struggled into place for the chairlift, I stumbled, he tried to help me, chairlift came around and knocked me down, then clocked him in the back of the head.

    2. Yes, your story gave me a laugh, as it sounds a lot like some of mine, Niki. If we ever met each other - we'll have to chat & compare at length, I have numerous "goodies" like this one, lol!!

    3. I like your story, too, Niki! That's funny because I was picturing you as this awesome skier, like your heroine! Great book! Congrats! BONNIE, I never did try downhill skiing. Loved to sled though!

  9. Well Carrie, after reading your review of Niki's story I'm going to ski right off to Amazon to grab it! Figuratively of course... Haha, almost a pun! ;) In Australia, Footy is big during winter, and cricket in summer. Generally we don't have 'real' winter sports as there's not much snow here! And never any where I live. :( They do all look fun, though, and I love reading about them. ;)
