A truly beautiful love story..

This incredibly charming story is dedicated to the courageous pioneers who helped settle and shape America, perhaps never realizing the great cost that would often be debited from their lives. ‘His Beloved Bride’ poignantly portrays the laudable bravery found in these folk, but then also shows the crushing heartbreak that’s just as much a part of this challenging time in history.

The likable, straight-talking, no-nonsense Phillip Dickerson needs a wife and child so he’s able to claim his inheritance. What with working so hard on his large land claim, he’s had no time to even think about courting. So when he overhears that Grace Hawthorne is widowed and alone with an infant and is lacking proper shelter, food, and fuel, Phillip naturally sees marriage as a solution to both their dilemmas. Can love grow out of practicality and if so, will it be robust enough to withstand tragedy?

I don’t know that I've ever smiled so often or for so long while reading before! Those smiles were provoked by the entertaining story-telling, the sigh-worthy devotion and love... Then moments later, I was in tears! Author Ruth Logan Herne has truly done a masterful job of evoking emotions for her characters. She also effortlessly inspires and uplifts the reader with this deeply beautiful and heart-warming tale, reminding us to always trust in God’s goodness and grace. Highly recommended!!

    2. Aw, thank you! Your kind and beautiful reviews came the same day that Dana Lynn messaged me that "Healing the Lawman's Heart" was given 4 1/2 Stars by Romantic Times, and these three things... your review, Carrie's review, and the RT review, made my day. I am blessed to work with wonderful editors, Melissa Endlich at Love Inspired, Becky Monds at Zondervan and Beth Jamison of Jamison Editing for His Beloved Bride. (The last one happens to be my daughter, so that's a double win!)... So your sweet words are also kudos to them for helping tweak, polish and fix the errors that come with the territory. You guys have totally blessed me! I'm GRINNING!!!! With my big teeth, LOL! :)

    3. Haha you make me laugh Ruthy, which is a great way to start off the day I say! I'm blessed that you have had such an awesome day, you so deserve it for your hard work and the blessings that you give others with your writing!! How wonderful too that your daughter Beth is an editor! My son helps me edit my reviews sometimes and so I call him 'my editor', but I'm thinking lately he needs to do a course or something... Never mind that he has a full-time job, lol. God bless you and your writing Ruthy and thank you again for being with us this week on OWG. We've thoroughly enjoyed having you!

  2. What a beautiful, touching review - Noella!! Thank you!!

I have both of the "With This Kiss" collections, however, have only had time to read one of the novella's - will have to make it a point to read "His Beloved Bride". Sounds like an awesome, emotional story!! I love stories of pioneers - admire their courage, and ruminate on how I might have fared if born during that era and setting. I enjoy stories, like Ruthy's, that, alternately, evoke smiles and tears within the same book.

  5. What a lovely review, NOELA! I was so touched by it as well as Ruth's comment above. I still want to read her Christmas book. Guess I'll try to fool my brain into thinking it's cool outside and have Christmas in July with that one!

    1. It's my birthday in July, which is sorta like Christmas in July for me... When the family is feeling generous that is LOL, so yeah go for it! Put the aircon on freezing and snuggle up with a hot chocolate and enjoy! But remember to read His Beloved Bride in the meantime... Definitely a not-to-be missed one! :) Thanks for your sweet words btw!

  6. I don't think my comment went through so I will try again. I often wonder why God didn't allow me to be born during a time like the early days of America. I do not care for the hustle and bustle of this world today. I am a simple person that enjoys diving into a different time in my mind and pretending sometimes that I lived back then. I would love to be able to read this series and do just that.....go back in time for a little while!

    1. Destry, I have that yearning too. My kids used to laugh at me for loving the simplicity of the Amish life, but piffle. What do kids know???/ :) So now I'm using that love of history, faith and simpler times to write historical fiction that pleases mind and soul... and makes you smile, too!

After reading one of your reviews I always feel lime I am right there a character in whatever book you have reviewed at the time. I very much enjoy reading stories of pioneers and women who show how strong they are when times are tough. I just finished A Light In The Wilderness by Jane Kirkpatrick, wow, what she went through ! Excellent book there !
