Susan Reinhardt Interview

Susan Reinhardt

Susan J. Reinhardt is the author of her debut novel, The Moses Conspiracy.

Susan, welcome to Overcoming With God.  We appreciate your willingness to share your testimony of overcoming with our readers.

Would you tell us about the most difficult thing in your life you have had to overcome, with God’s help?
The concept for The Moses Conspiracy was birthed shortly before my husband was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the Philadelphia gene. Virtually all work stopped on the book during this time as we fought to save his life. After a 14-month battle, he passed away.

A season of grief, an incredible amount of challenges with the house and business, and my own health challenges followed. 2006-2008 were the most difficult years of my life.

As things settled down, I remembered the original vision and my husband's prayers and enthusiasm for the project. I knew I couldn't walk away, and picked up the threads of the story. It took a total of six years to write, re-write, get the book into publishable condition, and find someone who believed in the story.

(CFP: Susan, I am so sorry for your loss.  What a terrific fight he must have made. May your book honor his memory.)

Disability friendliness: Is this release available in audio format or do you have any other works available on audio?  Do your e-books have audio capability? Do you have any in large print?
At this time, The Moses Conspiracy is in e-book format. However, it will be out in print within the next few months. Helping Hands Press is also planning to do an audio version. I believe the print size can be adjusted on some e-readers. As far as e-books with audio capability, I was unaware of this technology until now.

Does this book have any topics useful for bibliotherapy, or therapeutic influence through reading about a disorder or situation?
None of my characters have a particular disorder, but I think a bibliotherapy is a great idea. It's something that may apply to the third book in the trilogy.

Thank you Susan for agreeing to answer these questions.  Have a blessed day and keep on writing!!

You can purchase the Moses Conspiracy on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo.

  10. Hi Veronica -

Thank you. The scripture in Jeremiah about a future and a hope is on my Facebook Timeline. God has given me a future and a purpose with writing and supportive family and friends.

Hi Mary - I appreciate your encouragement.

Hi Kay - GriefShare helped me so much right after he passed away. While I'd experienced the loss of grandparents and a parent, this was totally different.

Hi Juanita - Many people don't realize the things we take for granted. Not only do you lose loving companionship, but also the one who shares the responsibilities of the household.

Hi Barbara - Thank you. Finishing and seeing The Moses Conspiracy published has brought much closure. The second book in the trilogy will be out within a few months.

Hi Noela - Thanks for the welcome. I've enjoyed getting to know Carrie through Helping Hands Press, as well as some of her friends.

Yes, Facebook can be a challenge! I'm glad my post helped you.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  13. A little bit late welcome to you, Susan. Officially I'm on a little blog break, but it seems like I can't stay away. ;)
Glad to hear that you finished the project your husband so believed in. The story line sounds great. When I find time I will squeeze it in.

  14. Dear Susan,
What a testimony to the glory of God! My heart is touched deeply with many emotions for what you have gone through, just utterly beyond words, really. I am thankful to the Lord and you for completing the project and sharing it with us, and many other people besides. I believe that your husband being in God's Presence knows the projects completion and I pray that you continue to be comforted, strengthened and energized for the work He has prepared for you now. You are an amazing woman, and I am blessed to have read a little about you here.

  15. Hi Shirley - I'm sorry to hear about your son. Leukemia is an awful disease. I pray they find a cure someday, so families don't have to go through what we did.

Hi Joy - Thank you for your kindness. I hope you enjoy the book.

Hi Marian - It's nice to see so many of the folks I've gotten to know on the HHP Thirsty Thursdays.

Hi Carrie - It's amazing you've been able to keep up with the blog with shingles. My grandfather had it many years ago, so I know how painful they are. I appreciate your hospitality here on OWG.

Hi Lisa - Thank you. I'm not so amazing, but I serve an amazing God. :)

    Blessings,
    Susan

  17. Susan, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to go through all that you did, with the loss of your husband, but I'm glad, God was able to help you finish The Moses Project, & I KNOW your husband is proudly looking down upon you--you have made him proud! I look forward to reading this book and the ones that will follow. Please take care, and keep writing so we can all be blessed by your writing! I would be honored to win one of your books!

  18. Hi Julie - Thanks for your kind words. Previous to losing my husband, I'd lost a parent and grandparents. Nothing quite prepared me for this. I'm thankful the Lord surrounded me with supportive family and friends. GriefShare also provided a way to process the pain. They're a great organization.

Hi Vicki - The Lord walked with me through this whole process. It's a matter of taking one step at a time in the right direction - towards Him and the future.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)
