Mothers Overcoming with God's Help by Carrie Fancett Pagels

My Mother's Day Roses!

Carla Stewart shared in her interview the many difficulties she has faced within her family. As mothers, we always want the best for our children, just as God wants the best for us. But we have free will. So it doesn't always work out that way. We make bad choices. Our kids make lousy choices sometimes. And we grieve the one who created us to begin with.

As we celebrate Mother's Day, 2012, may all the mothers who read this be blessed and may God help each and every one to overcome the obstacles to mothering that have been put in her way!

HERE is a gift from Teresa Mathews for your Mother's Day:

A Mother’s Prayer

Dear Lord help me to be
a Mother that is led by Thee.

One that never has a care
Even when I could, pull out my hair

One that loves my kids, never ending
Even when for lego’s it seems I’m always spending

Picking up toys, washing all the clothes
Help me Lord before my mind goes.

Cooking food and mopping the floor
Here I go again to the store.

Mom! Mom! I need new clothes
Oh well that’s the way the money goes!

Lord if only I could have a minute alone
I promise I would not talk on the phone.

Mom! Mom! He hit me on the head!
Help me Lord why couldn’t I have stayed in bed????

Children screaming at each other
What was the reason I wanted to be a Mother?

Mommy I love you, Can I have a kiss?
These are the times I’m going to miss.

My little boys are growing up way too fast,
Lord help me to show them the right path.

Listening to your voice telling them the way
Lord help my boys to follow you everyday.

Let them give you all of their heart
And from your way let them never part.

Thank you Lord for allowing me to be
A mother that is led by Thee.

  1. CARRIE, thanks for the great post and for sharing your lovely roses with us. WHEW! I'm so glad I made it through those teenage years with my kids. My son was a breeze, but my daughter was a whole different story! For years I blamed myself, which was foolish, b/c I raised both of my children basically the same, but it was her lousy choices that caused the problems not mine. Finally, my sis in law, Barb, got that through my head.

So Moms, don't blame yourselves if everything didn't quite go as you had planned for your kids, but rest in the fact that you did the very best you could in raising them with God's help! Have a blessed Mother's Day!

  2. CARRIE thanks for the beautiful roses and the words of wisdom. I still have my "bundles of joy" with me and I am a proud mama! My oldest son Daniel is graduating from MATHEWS ACADEMY next week! My "baby" Joshua has one more year to go! Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday they were both toddlers. :)

  4. WEELLLL!!! Let me tell you a funny story CARRIE, my first date was with a nice young man from church. Mother let us ride to the grocery store with her and she let us sit in the car. BUT she parked right up on the curb at the front door! BTW I was almost 19! LOL!!! So my teen years were not so bad!!! NEVER LEFT MOM'S SIGHT!!! LOL!!!

  5. I was perfect...well, except for that time I snuck out my bedroom window to meet Paul one night. I wasn't allowed to date 'til I was 17, and never on a school night. But I did that night. I could pretend I was Amish and I was in my rumspringe, but actually I was being a naughty teen, which was unusual for me. I always tried to be so perfect. Oh boy, was I ever nervous sneaking back through my bedroom window and heaved a sigh of relief when I slipped into bed without getting caught! lol!

  6. O GOODNESS DIANA! I couldn't do ANYTHING without MS FLOSSIE knowing about it! LOL! It was like she could read my mind. :) Had I took a trip out my window she would have been sitting on my bed when I got back in!!! :)

  12. What a lovely poem! Thank you for sharing it with us. Happy Mother's Day to all of you here.

My daughter is grown with children of her own & we weathered some storms during her teens but God has blessed me with such a loving, amazing daughter.

My mom is in heaven & I miss her every day, but I look forward to the day we will see one another again.

  15. It is my prayer daily to be the mother that God wants me to be!! I have teens, a tween, a pre-tween and a pre-schooler and there are days I wonder what God was thinking!? But, I KNOW that I am the best mom for them, so I just pray for His wisdom and strength.

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day... I did, my family spoiled me! :)
